Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a time-setting device for a timepiece provided with an analog mechanical display composed at least of an hour hand and a minute hand, comprising a manually actuated crown rod and capable of being notched in at least two axial positions, an axially displaceable pinion and a mechanism slaving said pinion to the rod in at least two different relative positions according to the axial positions taken by the rod.
  • Such a device is well known from the state of the art. If one refers for example to patent CH 611 759 and to the figure presented, there is a mechanism comprising a rod 4 serving both to wind the watch and to set the time on the hands.
  • the time-setting function is ensured by an axially displaceable pinion which is constituted by the sliding pinion 8 which can slide on a square carried by the rod and thus come, according to the axial position of the rod, to mesh on the return of setting the time 25.
  • the pinion 8 is slaved to the rod 4 by the mechanism formed by the pull tab 1 and the lever 2. It can be seen that in this construction the diameter of the sliding pinion 8 is significantly larger than the diameter of the stem and that, consequently, said construction is ill-suited to a watch of very small thickness as is the fashion today.
  • the present invention provides a new construction provided with means which appear in the claims.
  • the device presented in Figures 1 and 2 is suitable for calibers of electronic watches without winder and equipped with at least one hour hand and one minute hand.
  • the time-setting rod 1 is rotatably mounted on the plate around the axis 2. It can take two axial positions when one acts on the crown (not shown) which is mounted on it. The first neutral position is illustrated in Figure 1 and the second, drawn, is illustrated in Figure 2.
  • the rod has in its extension a toothed pinion 3 whose diameter does not exceed that of the rod.
  • the pinion 3 is either driven on a shaft 4 secured to the rod or made in one piece with the rod.
  • the pinion 3 is provided with a conventional toothing 5.
  • the figures also show that the device comprises an axially displaceable pinion 6 rotatably mounted relative to an axis 7 arranged parallel to the axis 2 of the rod.
  • This pinion 6 plays the same role as that of a conventional sliding pinion as it has been described in connection with patent CH 611 759 except as regards the winding function which does not exist here. To simplify the language, however, we will continue to call it sliding gable while being well aware that this definition does not exactly correspond to the idea that we have of such a part.
  • the axes 2 and 7 are arranged relative to each other so that the toothing 5 of the pinion 3 meshes with the toothing 8 of the sliding pinion 6.
  • the figures also show that the sliding pinion 6 is controlled by the pinion 3 by a pull tab 9 and rocker 10 system so that in a position pulled from the rod relative to a neutral position pressed, the time setting of the watch is activated when the rod is rotated manually.
  • the sliding pinion 6 is integral with a shaft 11 itself rotatably mounted on the plate by means of bearings not shown.
  • the sliding pinion 6 could be freely mounted on a shaft secured to the plate.
  • the pull tab 9 is composed of a lug 12 and a nose 13.
  • the lug 12 is engaged in the groove 14 formed by the space formed between the rod 1 and the toothed pinion 3.
  • the pull tab is rotated about its pivot axis embodied here by the screw 15.
  • the nose 13 of the pull tab cooperates with an arm 16 of the rocker 10 which deforms elastically.
  • the rocker is kept fixed relative to the plate by means of a screw 27 located at the end of its arm 28.
  • a retaining pin 29 for its part defines a direction of angular and very precise movement of its other arm 16 At the end of the arm 16 and integral with it is a fork with two branches 17 and 18.
  • the branch 17 adjoins the side 19 of the sliding pinion and the branch 18 forming a ball joint is freely engaged in an opening 20 of a lever 21
  • the lever 21 has openings 22 into which pins 23 penetrate to guide the lever which can move parallel to the axis 2 of the rod 1 when the lever 21 is moved by the ball joint 18.
  • the lever 21 also has a part 24 which adjoins the side 25 of the sliding pinion.
  • the sliding pinion 6 is sandwiched between the branch 17 of the lever 10 and the part 24 of the lever 21 and can move axially along its axis 7 depending on the position of the lever.
  • the figures also show that the part 24 includes a reference 26 which permanently meshes with the sliding pinion. Reference 26 can. mesh on a gear train here having another reference 30 and a timer wheel 31 pivoted on the plate.
  • Figure 1 shows the position of the mechanism according to the invention when the time-setting rod is in the neutral position depressed.
  • the nose 13 of the zipper rests against the inclined plane 32 of the rocker 10.
  • the lever 21 has moved to the left of the figure driven by the ball joint 18.
  • the sliding pinion 6 is pushed to the left by the part 24 of the lever and the return 26 secured to the lever does not mesh in the gear train 30, 31. If the rod 1 is actuated in rotation, nothing will happen.
  • Figure 2 shows the position of the same mechanism when the time setting rod is in the pulled position relative to the depressed position.
  • the nose 13 of the pull tab spreads the arm 16 of the rocker 10 to the right to lock onto the inclined plane 33.
  • the arm 17 of the fork pushes the sliding pinion 6 as does the lever 21 to the right and the reference 26 engages with the gear train 30, 31. If the rod 1 is actuated in rotation, the hands of the watch will start to rotate to be set to the time.
  • the arm 16 of the rocker ends not by the ball joint 18, but by a branch similar to that shown in 17.
  • a fork with equal branches, one of which carries the reference 26, said branches embracing the pinion 6 on its sides 19 and 25.
  • the lever 21 the role of which will be explained below, could be linked to the rocker by means of an articulation or could also be made of 'one piece with the rocker.
  • the pull tab 9 cooperates directly with the lever 21.
  • the pull tab When the pull tab is rotated ,. his nose acts on the lever.
  • the lever 21 which carries a fork with two branches which embraces the sliding pinion 6 to allow its axial displacement.
  • the rocker 10 acts as a simple return spring on lever 21.
  • the lever 21 is used to control the stop and the stop. In its extension, not shown, it acts, on the one hand, on an electrical contact which serves to interrupt the electrical supply to the motor.
  • the lever controls, on the other hand, a mechanical brake which acts for example on the second wheel to avoid damaging the engine which, otherwise, would turn at accelerated speed during the mechanical time setting.
