Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a damp mop cover for floor cleaning with a cover sheet, which has on one upper surface means for attachment to a holder and in the rest, in particular on the other, lower surface and on the edge, is at least partially occupied with fringed material.
Such textile covers are preferably used by professional building cleaners. The cover sheet is usually provided with pockets, with the help of which the textile cover can be stretched over a holder. There are numerous types of such damp mop covers on the market; however, the respective external shape is essentially irrelevant in the present context.
In order to ensure a high level of dirt and moisture absorption, the covers are advantageously made from natural fibers such as cotton. However, covers made of synthetic fibers are also in use. Although these generally last longer than uniformly shaped cotton covers, they have a lower dirt and moisture absorption capacity.
The degree of dirt and moisture absorption depends not only on the fiber material but also on the processing or packaging of the individual fringe. Covers with fringes consisting of open yarn ends have a better cleaning ability than covers with loop-shaped fringes. The latter slide more easily over the floor and also have the advantage of losing less fluff when wiping.
The invention has for its object to provide a textile cover in which the advantages, namely the high dirt and moisture absorption capacity of the natural fibers with the advantages, e.g. the longer durability, of synthetic fibers and at the same time the advantages of the open fringe and those of the loop-shaped fringe are combined while avoiding the respective disadvantages. The solution according to the invention for the damp mop cover of the type mentioned with a fringed cover sheet is that the cover sheet made of synthetic fibers and the fringe-like material at least partially consists of natural fibers and that the fringe-like material is combined from open yarn ends and loops.
According to the invention, the advantages of covers made of synthetic fibers are combined with the advantages of covers made of natural fibers in that the cover sheet is made according to the invention from synthetic fibers and the fringes consist partially or entirely of natural fibers.
According to a further invention, the middle area of the lower surface of the cover sheet is covered with loops and the edge area surrounding the middle area and possibly also its edge are covered with open yarn ends. If the loops are attached in the middle, e.g. in several rows, to the underside of the cover sheet and surrounded by fringed material with open yarn ends, a damp mop cover is available that has a relatively low friction in the area of greatest friction - namely in the middle of its underside and at the same time particularly suitable in the edge area for the absorption of residual dirt Has means. The new damp mop cover can therefore be handled with less force than a damp mop cover with only open fiber ends and still has good dirt and moisture absorption capacity. In addition, the tendency of the damp mop cover according to the invention to release fluff is reduced because the open fringes which tend to fluff are small in number and because the fringes which are particularly susceptible to fluff on the underside of the cover sheet consist of loops because of the increased friction.
- Fig. 1 einen Feuchtwischbezug gesehen von oben; und
- Fig. 2 einen Feuchtwischbezug gesehen von unten.
- 1 shows a damp mop cover seen from above. and
- Fig. 2 is a damp mop cover seen from below.
The cleaning properties of the cover according to the invention were determined as follows in comparison to conventional covers.
'Versuchsanordnung:
Arbeitsweise:
- Two covers were used for each test area and type. The test area was washed and pre-cleaned with a cover. With the second cover, the floor was dried and residual dirt was absorbed.
Testergebnis:Test result:
The test area was uniformly streak-free; Residual dirt was no longer visible.
Die Testfläche zeigte deutlich Restschmutz und Streifen. The test area clearly showed residual dirt and streaks.
- The cleaning result corresponded to
test result 1; that is, the test area was uniformly streak-free; Residual dirt was no longer visible.
The advantages of the wet wiping cover according to the invention also consist in the fact that wiping with the same good cleaning performance as with covers with open fringes is possible with considerably less effort. The resulting lower strain on the cleaning staff means that a larger area coverage can be expected.
