Abstract

The wet mop (1) for cleaning floor surfaces consists of a bearing structure (2), preferably made of textiles, having holder insertion pockets (3), which are sewn on at the longitudinal ends on the upper side, and having material (4, 6), attached to the underside, for picking up dirt and moisture, and tassels, arranged peripherally at the front. The mop is to be improved to the effect that it has a low weight and, at the same time, a high degree of absorbency and liquid-storage capacity with a high capability of picking up dirt at the same time. <??>This is achieved in that sponge or non-woven material with a high degree of liquid absorbency is applied as the material on the underside in the form of several laminar strips (4) which are arranged adjacently in rows and form channels which are open at the bottom, the strips (4) each being attached to the bearing structure (2) in some regions. <IMAGE>

Description

The invention is directed to a damp mop cover for floor care, consisting of a preferably textile support structure with holder insert pockets sewn on top at the longitudinal ends and with material attached on the underside for absorbing dirt and moisture as well as fringes arranged around the edges.

Such a damp mop cover is known from DE-GM 8220574. Here, fringe-like material in the form of a loop is attached to the underside of the textile carrier structure. The fringed material can consist of fibers of animal or vegetable origin as well as synthetic material and mixtures of these materials. When used in floor care, the fringes described above are now intended to absorb the dirt and moisture which has been brought to the floor by a liquid cleaning agent used. Such damp mop covers, however, have a relatively high weight and are limited in their moisture absorption capacity.

For the use of such damp mop covers, especially in commercial building cleaning, it is desirable to achieve a high performance, ie the floor area to be cleaned per unit time, that the damp mop covers are on the one hand as light as possible, ie have a low weight, and on the other hand have a high dirt and moisture absorption capacity.

To create damp mop covers with a high dirt and moisture absorption capacity, it has already been proposed in DE-GM 8434710 and DE-GM 8503569 to apply wavy nonwoven strips on the cleaning-active side, which have longitudinal slots in the underside of the shaft through which dirt and liquid pass can penetrate particularly well into the spaces formed as a laterally open hollow body between the support structure and the corrugated nonwoven web. With such damp mop covers, however, the cleaning effect desired by the users could not be achieved in practice. On the one hand, the moisture absorption capacity of the material described in these literature references is not sufficient, and on the other hand, the dirt absorption capacity and the wiping performance of these covers do not match that of known damp mop covers with fringes, loops or shag on the bottom. In particular, the cross-sectionally wavy closed design of the nonwoven webs of such wet mops prevents their entire surface from being used for cleaning, since the surface located within the slots provided with slots is not available for the wiping movement for cleaning.

The object of the invention is to improve a generic damp mop cover with regard to the lowest possible weight and high absorbency as well as large liquid storage capacity with high dirt absorption capacity.

In the case of a damp mop cover of the type mentioned at the outset, this object is achieved according to the invention in that the underside material is sponge or fleece material with high liquid absorption capacity in the form of a plurality of strips which are arranged in rows in a row and form open channels on the bottom, the strips in each case are partially attached to the support structure.

This creates a damp mop cover that is very light and, compared to conventional damp mop covers, significantly reduced in weight or improved in its wiping effect and ability to absorb dirt. Due to the arrangement of the sponge material strips, the damp mop cover glides very easily over the floors to be cleaned and absorbs moisture and dirt. The strip-like arrangement of the material improves the absorption of moisture and dirt, since such wet mop covers are usually guided over the floors in so-called figure eight movements and the strips of sponge cloth fold over when the wet mop cover is partially pulled over the floor and partially pushed in opposite directions during such movements.

Due to the low weight of the damp mop cover according to the invention, there is a further advantage that the cleaning and washing costs for the damp mop cover are lower compared to conventional covers.

Furthermore, the invention alternately provides rows of fringes, loops or shag attached to the underside of the strips. This ensures that in addition to areas with high fluid absorption capacity (sponge or fleece material strips) areas with particularly high dirt absorption capacity (fringes, loops or shag) are formed.

Furthermore, the invention provides that the sponge or fleece material preferably consists of cotton and cellulose or of synthetic fibers or a fiber mixture which has a thickness of 0.5 to 5 mm, a weight per unit area of 200 to 300 g / m³ and a water absorption capacity of up to 3600 g / m³. The wet mop according to the invention is expediently equipped with such a material.

Finally, the invention provides that the carrier structure consists of a sponge or non-woven cloth material preferably of cotton and cellulose or of synthetic fibers or a fiber mixture, which has a thickness of 0.5 to 5 mm, a weight per unit area of 200 to 300 g / m³ and has a water absorption capacity of up to 3600 g / m³. As a result, the water absorption capacity or liquid storage capacity of the damp mop cover is further increased.

An embodiment is explained below with reference to the drawing, for example. This shows a wet mop according to the invention in a partially sectioned illustration.

The damp mop cover, designated as a whole by 1, has a textile carrier structure 2, on which two insertion pockets 3 are sewn on the longitudinal end side for a holder to be inserted therein are. The insertion pockets 3 are preferably each formed as a plastic part, but can also be formed from flat textile structures. On its underside, ie on the active cleaning side, the textile carrier structure 2 has strips 4 of sponge cloth material arranged next to one another in rows. These strips 4 are arranged parallel to one another in the longitudinal direction of the support structure 2 and are each fastened to the support structure 2 in regions along lines 5 (indicated by dashed lines and not drawn in full length). The strips 4 can be sewn, glued or welded. Fringes 6 are also fastened all around the outer edge of the textile support structure 2 on its underside. These have a usual length in the case of damp mop covers and are sewn, tufted, glued or welded onto the carrier structure 2. This outer, circumferential fringe wreath is arranged in the area of the greatest accumulation of dirt. The fine hairs of the fringes hold the dirt particularly firmly and penetrate all joints and crevices without any problems. Apart from the fringed outer edge, the textile carrier structure 2 is otherwise only covered with the strip-like sponge material on its underside.

The sponge material of the strips 4 consists of a mixture of cotton and cellulose. The strips have a thickness of 0.5 to 5 mm, a weight per unit area of 200 to 300 g / m³ and a water absorption capacity of up to 3600 g / m³. The sponge cloth material is boil-proof, so that the entire damp mop cover is washable at temperatures of 60 ° C. The water absorption capacity of up to 3600 g / m³ was determined according to DIN 53 923. Based on the weight per unit area, this water absorption means that the relative water absorption of the Sponge material is up to approx. 1400%. This means that the sponge cloth material can absorb around 1400% of its weight in the cleaning liquor. Previously known wet wiping covers do not have such a high water absorption capacity. Furthermore, the sponge cloth material is characterized by a wetting time of less than 4 s and a suction speed of more than 5 cm. The latter is measured on 15 mm wide test specimens based on DIN 53 924, the measurement duration being 30 s and working without any weight. When wet, the sponge material has a tensile strength greater than 20 N.

The strips 4 can also consist of non-woven cloth material made of synthetic fibers or a fiber mixture, polyvinyl alcohol, polyester or polyamide being suitable as materials. Such a fleece material has the same properties as described above for the sponge material. It can also be provided that in addition to the strips 4, the carrier structure 2 also consists of the sponge or fleece material described above.

The fringes 6 attached all around on the outer edge of the textile support structure 2 can also be designed as loops or shag.

In a further exemplary embodiment, not shown in FIG. 1, 4 rows of fringes, loops or shag are arranged alternately on the underside of the carrier structure 2 next to the strips. Like the strips 4, these are arranged parallel to the strips 4 in the longitudinal direction of the support structure 2 and in each case along the lines 5 on the support structure 2 attached. The same fastening options exist for these rows as for the fringes 6. All the fringes, loops or shaggles described consist of a material that is usually used for damp mop covers.

Of course, the described exemplary embodiments of the invention can be modified in many ways without departing from the basic idea of the invention. For example, it is also possible for the rows of strips 4 and, if appropriate, strips of fringes, loops or shaggles not to be arranged parallel to one another in the longitudinal direction of the support structure 2, but rather in the transverse direction to the support structure 2. It is also conceivable that the underside material is attached in a circular shape or zigzag shape or similar patterns.
