Definitions
- the present invention relates to igniters for igniting propellant charge powders which operate on the induction principle.
- the invention is concerned with the secondary coils contained in these igniters and their manufacture.
- the principle of contactless energy transmission for ignition purposes is e.g. known from DE-A-27 34 169 and DE-A-30 24 554.
- the secondary coil which causes the actual ignition via a carrier element with ignition resistor and electrical connection contacts, should be as small as possible in these systems - i.e. the coils should have a maximum diameter of 10 mm with a total height of about 0.5 to 1.5 mm.
- Such support elements with ignition resistance are described for example in DE-A-17 71 889 and DE-A-20 20 016.
- With the usual use of wound wire coils with many individual components the production of solder joints and contact points, as well as the entire connection technology, could be carried out without any problems.
- these known procedures cannot be transferred to the production of coils with small dimensions, so that the desired miniaturization of the secondary coil poses serious problems for mass production.
- a secondary coil which interacts inductively with a primary coil in an inductive ignition means based on the transformer principle and is electrically conductively connected to a carrier element with an ignition resistor and which is designed as a multilayer solenoid coil with several turns in each layer, the secondary coil characterized in that the turns perpendicular to the cylinder axis are in the form of at least two separate flat coils on a folded, foil-shaped carrier material, the turns being connected to each other only at the folds and the folds being arranged such that the individual flat coils after folding lie one above the other and that a flat coil is arranged on the front and back of the fold sides of the carrier material resulting from the folding, the innermost turns of the individual flat coils over the entire edge of a central opening opening are connected to one another by means of a metallization and the individual flat coils are insulated from one another in the area of their planar extent.
- the arrangement of the secondary coil according to the invention has the advantage that it is mechanically very compact and can withstand high pressure; it can be easily contacted with an ignition element via its inner turns.
- the carrier material is preferably a high-strength but flexible polyimide or a corresponding polyeater.
- the various winding parts of flat coils are applied to this carrier material in a manner known per se. This is done e.g. in such a way that a film of a conductive metal, e.g. Copper, laminated and the conductor pattern is etched out on both sides in the form of flat coils in a manner known per se.
- the conductor pattern is arranged in such a way that the outermost turns of two flat coils, which come to lie next to one another in the fully assembled solenoid, are connected to one another at an intended fold point of the carrier material.
- the outermost turn should be understood to mean the turn with the largest diameter in each case.
- the innermost turn i.e. the winding with the smallest diameter passes through the carrier material, so that there is also an electrically conductive transition from one flat coil to the next flat coil on the other side of the carrier material.
- the carrier material is preferably provided at this inner transition point with recesses of corresponding diameter, which are metallized in a known manner for through-plating.
- This arrangement of the conductor pattern in the form of flat coils on the front and back of film-shaped carrier material enables the production of the coils according to the invention in the plane.
- the windings are applied to a film material in the arrangement mentioned above and then provided with an insulating cover layer or intermediate layer or similar insulation.
- the film is then folded at the intended locations and the individual folding pages are pressed together and / or glued.
- the folding is preferably meandering.
- the folding takes place at the transition point from an outermost turn of a flat coil to the outermost turn of the next flat coil, preferably in such a way that the turns on the next fold side come to lie on the inside of the fold.
- the windings thus folded up in the coil are in opposite directions of rotation as right and left coil images. In this way it is possible to produce coils in which the turns of the flat coils of two adjacent folded sides are in opposite directions. An increase in the induced voltage is thus advantageously achieved.
- the two folding sides which form the end of the coil are not provided with a conductor pattern: the one folding string which delimits the folded solenoid outwards is left partially or completely metal-clad. This side is then intended for ground contact in the igniter. The other outermost fold side is completely freed of the metal coating except for a small inner ring in the coil axis. The remaining inner ring then serves as a connection zone for the ignition resistance of the igniter.
- the coils according to the invention preferably have a total of 40 to 90 turns, which are distributed over preferably 4 to 8 folded carrier foils coated on both sides with flat coils.
- the number of turns depends u. a. from the primary coil.
- the carrier film preferably has the same geometric shape and size as the flat coil applied thereon, which is preferably of spiral design, the spiral also being able to be modified in an ellipse or almost rectangular.
- the diameter of the largest circle circumscribing the coil according to the invention is preferably between 5 and 10 mm.
- the height of the coil according to the invention depends on the number of folded sides and the thickness of the carrier film; it is preferably between 0.3 and 0.8 mm; but it can also be considerably larger, depending on how many folding sides with flat coils the coil according to the invention is to have.
- Another preferred embodiment consists in that a resonant circuit is formed in connection with the resistance of the ignition element, the circuit behavior having to be matched to the field change of the transmission system in order to ensure optimal heat conversion in the resistance of the ignition element to activate the ignition charge. It is also e.g. possible to arrange a contact made of magnetic material to the carrier element in the interior of the folded coil arrangement, the frequency response of which is matched to the resonance frequency of the resonant circuit.
- the folded and compressed coil 9, in connection with the carrier element 8, represents a compact component that can withstand high mechanical loads and withstands, for example, later pressing pressures when charging the primer 12 of approximately 20,000 N / cm 2 .
- FIG 4 shows an overall view of the inductive igniter.
- the coil package 9 with the attached carrier element 8, which contains an ignition resistor and serves as an ignition element, is inserted into a support body 10 and forms a mechanically fixed unit with the outer capsule 11. After an electrical check, if necessary, the inductive igniter is charged with the igniter 12.
- the mechanical components 8 to 11 of the inductive igniter can consist of both combustible and non-combustible materials.
- the support body 10 is preferably made of soft iron or of high-strength sintered material with ferromagnetic properties in order to improve the magnetic flux and thereby increase the induced voltage.
- the capsule 11 is preferably made of antimagnetic (slide) or paramagnetic) materials. Brass or stainless steel is preferably used here.
- the support body 10 is made of a composite material consisting of glass fiber, octogen, ferromagnetic metal or metal oxide powder and resin as a binder, the surface having to be electrically conductive for contacting purposes.
- the outer capsule 11 consists of the composite material glass fiber octogen and resin as a binder.
- the inductive ignition means 13 is shown in a combustion chamber 14 in FIG.
- the inductive igniter 13 When the inductive igniter 13 is acted upon by an alternating magnetic field, which is applied by the primary coil 15, the coil and the ignition resistor forming a resonant circuit, the optimal voltage is induced in the secondary coil at its resonance frequency in a known manner, which is caused by the electrical resistance of the igniter element Driving ignition current, which causes a conversion into Joule heat to ignite the ignition charge 12 in the ignition center) 13.
- the propellant powder 16 is thus ignited.
- the result is a complete implementation of all combustible parts in the combustion chamber 14.
