Description

The invention relates to a trigger-actuated dispensing hood according to the preamble of claim 1. Containers under internal pressure, such as aerosol containers, are usually provided with an actuating head or an actuating hood which delimits an output channel through which the contents of the container are closed the dispensing opening formed in the dispensing head or dispensing hood. To dispense the contents of the container, the user grasps the container and then, with a finger of the hand holding the container, press down the head or part of the hood and release the contents of the container.

Although economically successful, finger-operated heads or hoods have the disadvantage that they lead to finger fatigue in some users. In addition, meeting the desired surface area with the dispensed product is difficult because it is relatively difficult to grasp the container while correctly placing the finger. A more convenient grasping and actuation of the container is achieved by means of a trigger mechanism or a trigger.

Known aerosol containers which are actuated by a release mechanism have the disadvantage that the actuation of their valve is not optimally easy, that part of the actuation mechanism protrudes beyond the circumference of the container, so that there is a risk of actuation of the trigger during transport or storage by an unintentional touch, and that they do not appear particularly aesthetic to the consumer. Known trigger actuated aerosol containers are disclosed in U.S. Patent Nos. 3,189,232, 3,580,432 and 3,987,942.

In the delivery hood known from FR-A-2 403 596 according to the preamble of claim 1, the trigger member is pivotally mounted by means of vertical projections in recesses which are formed in the underside of horizontal housing flanges. The actuating member is supported on actuation with the free upper ends of two legs that laterally enclose the actuating member on the underside of the flanges and by means of rounded lower edges of the legs on shoulders of the actuating member. When the trigger member is pivoted, the projections can therefore disengage from the recesses, so that the trigger member is pressed further into the housing member and can no longer be pivoted.

In addition, the force to be exerted on the trigger member to actuate is relatively large.

In the dispensing hood known from GB-A-1 274 976, only one actuating member pivotably mounted on the housing and no additional triggering member which acts on the actuating member is provided. A pivot pin is formed on the actuator and can be snapped into recesses in the housing that are open at the bottom. In the event of unintentional application of a force on the actuator, e.g. during transport, the pivot pin can snap out of the recesses. In addition, a relatively high actuation force is also required here.

The invention has for its object to provide a dispensing hood according to the preamble of claim 1, which ensures a secure hold of the trigger member and is easier to operate.

The inventive solution to this problem is characterized in claim 1.

The formation not only of the trigger member but also of the actuating member as a lever results in a multiple lever action with a corresponding increase in the actuating force, so that actuation with less force is possible. Here, not only the lower actuating force ensures a secure hold of the release member in the housing, but also the formation of the release member pivot bearing as a joint, since a joint provides all-round support of the articulated part.

Further developments of the solution according to the invention are characterized in the subclaims.

The hood according to the invention can thus be compact and aesthetically pleasing. Your housing can have a bottom part which fits on the valve-provided closure part of an aerosol or container under internal pressure. The actuating member can be articulated on the housing in the vicinity of the radial plane remote from the output side of the actuating member, and the triggering member can rest on the actuating member in the vicinity and essentially perpendicular to the dispensing direction.

The housing of the hood of the invention preferably fits the flanged edge of the container formed between the opening in the container and the valve closure, the valve closure normally forming a cup-shaped mounting cap. The actuator may have a vertical portion that is sealed to the discharge side of the valve in the closure and a horizontal portion that terminates in the discharge opening. The dispensing channel in the actuator may communicate with the channel or passage on the dispensing side of the valve to provide a closed channel or passage through which the contents of the container are directed to the dispensing opening. By articulating the actuator on the housing, preferably diametrically opposite the output end of the actuator, the result is a first lever with a lever arm absorbing the exerted actuating force from the joint to the point where the working pressure is exerted on the actuating member, which is longer than the working arm from the joint to the part of the actuating member which touches and depresses (opens) the valve.

The trigger member can abut the horizontal portion of the actuator and extend downward and substantially perpendicular to the horizontal portion of the actuator. Preferably, the trigger member is articulated relative to the output end of the actuator behind the attachment or contact point on the housing, so that a second lever results. With the second lever, the lever arm which absorbs the force exerted, which is formed by the section from the joint of the trigger slide to the point of contact of the trigger and actuating member (where the trigger member can exert a force directed downwards onto the horizontal part of the actuator), is larger as the working arm formed by the section from the hinge between the trigger member and the housing to the point where the vertical part of the actuator contacts the valve of the container. The actuating force exerted on the hood according to the invention is therefore cumulatively increased by the combination effect of the two levers.

Von der vertikalen Wand 20 erstrecken sich Rückwände 21 nach außen.1 to 3, the dispensing hood 10 according to the invention has a housing 12 with hollow side walls 14 and 16 which delimit a slot 18, a vertical wall 20 (FIG. 3) and front walls 22 and 24 which also delimit the slot 18. The side walls 14 and 16 of the housing 12 have at their lower end a circular flange 26 which, in a manner known per se, can be snap-fitted onto the conventional flanged rim, which is connected to the opening rim by connecting the cup-shaped mounting cap 28 (FIG. 3) of the pressurized container 30 (which is shown partially schematically in FIGS. 2 and 3) is formed. Rear walls 21 extend outward from the vertical wall 20.

In the slot 18 of the housing-12, an actuator 32 is arranged. The actuator 32 has a horizontal part 34 and a vertical part 36. A channel 38 runs through the vertical part 36 of the actuator 32 and continues in the horizontal part 34 as a channel 40. At one end of the vertical part 36 of the actuator 32, a valve stem receiving socket 42 is formed which forms a recess for receiving the valve stem 44 of a conventional valve of the container under internal pressure. One end of the horizontal part 34 of the actuator 32 forms a pin 46 for receiving an insert 48 with a dispensing opening 50.

The pin 46 and the insert 48 can be designed in a manner known per se, preferably as a dispensing system with a plurality of channels which lead to the dispensing opening, usually referred to as a "swirl chamber".

An articulated arm 52, which ends in an articulation 54, extends away from the connection of the horizontal part 34 to the vertical part 36 of the actuating member 32.

The housing 12 and the actuator 32 are preferably formed in one piece from plastic, the joint 54 being produced in one piece with the housing 12.

The movement path of the actuating member when opening an aerosol valve to be actuated vertically in a manner known per se should be as close as possible to that of the valve stem, namely vertically. In order to achieve this direction of movement of the actuator when the valve is opened, the joint between the actuator and the housing is placed in a plane which extends radially outward from the upper end of the valve stem, preferably in the middle of the path covered by the valve stem during actuation.

The trigger member 56 (see in particular FIG. 1) has a yoke part 58 with a cover plate 60 and side walls 62 and 64. Pins 66 are provided on both side walls 62 and 64. The trigger member 56 has a finger receiving part 68, the top of which has a grooved plate 70. The yoke part 58 delimits an opening 72 which is dimensioned such that the yoke part 58 with the opening 72 fits onto the horizontal part 34 of the actuating member 32 and is slidably displaceable thereon.

The grooved plate 70 represents another feature of the invention: it forms a collection channel for falling drops of the product dispensed from the container after the valve is closed. The product dripping onto the plate 70 runs along the groove in the inside of the dispensing hood instead of dripping down from the container or onto the user's hand.

When the trigger member 56 is mounted on the actuating member 32, the pins 66 are guided along in grooves 74 on the inner sides of the hollow side walls 14 and 16. The grooves 74 diverge slightly toward the output end of the actuator 32. They end in recesses 76, which are deeper than the inner ends of the grooves 74, so that when the trigger member 56 has been inserted into its end position beyond the grooves 74, the pins 66 engage in the recesses 76 and the trigger member 56 in this Hold the installation position.

As shown in FIG. 2, the front end of the yoke part 58 closes with the front walls 22 and 24 of the housing 12.

The pins 66 act as a hinge for the trigger member so that it acts as a second lever when the trigger member 56 is moved toward the container.

The maximum leverage of the trip member is achieved by making the trip member hinge as tight as possible, i.e. how it allows the production in the injection molding process and the assembly, is arranged at the counteracting pressure of the valve of the container under internal pressure and away from the point of contact between the trigger member and the actuator.

When the trigger member is moved toward the container, the actuator and thereby the valve stem is pushed down so that the valve of the container is opened. The container contents are then discharged via the channels 38, 40 to the "swirl chamber" at the discharge end of the horizontal part 34 of the actuator 32 and finally to the discharge opening 50.
