Description

The invention relates to a rotary hearth furnace with a cylindrical or angular furnace space and rotating furnace endodes, which is divided into individual stove segments and with an inlet and outlet door, the width of which corresponds to the width of the stove segments.

Such rotary hearth furnaces are known as heat treatment furnaces with cylindrical or angular furnace space and rotating floor. The parts to be treated are placed on the slowly rotating furnace floor and move through the various heating zones.

The advantage of these rotary hearth furnaces as heat treatment furnaces is that no transfer elements are required for the transport of the batch within the furnace. The batch rests on the rotating hearth, which is stored outside in the cold and is rotated by an external drive. Ovens with a special inlet door and a special outlet door are generally used. These rotary hearth furnaces are between Inlet and outlet are empty so that the beginning of the furnace is separated from the end of the furnace. This does not give rise to the disadvantages that occur when only one door is used as the inlet and outlet door, since the cold batch introduced is placed next to a finished, warm batch without separation. In general, the rotary hearth furnace is operated in cycles and a batch can only be introduced if a batch has been removed beforehand. The new batch then moves from the infeed step by step through the different batch locations to the picking position. Here, it first passes through the heating zone and then the zone for keeping the desired temperature constant. The rotary hearth furnace therefore has an asymmetrical heating density along the circumference. Double gas curtains are provided at the door openings to prevent air from entering. The inner gas curtain is intended for inert gas operation, the outer gas curtain for gas air mixtures. The gas curtains are automatically switched on via solenoid valves and ignited from the inside of the furnace or from an electrically monitored ignition lamp.

Such a rotary hearth furnace has proven itself in its form as a continuous furnace for heat treatment. It has also already been stated to operate the rotary hearth furnace as a batch furnace, which means that it can be fully loaded and after the entire contents of the furnace have been heated it is emptied again. However, this type of use as a batch furnace does not increase the scope of the rotary hearth furnace.

The object of the invention is therefore to operate a rotary hearth furnace in such a way and to provide it with additional devices that its field of application is considerably improved.

The object is achieved according to the invention in that more than one exit door is provided and each exit door is optionally connected to a further treatment device (quenching bath, hardening press or the like) with the interposition of a lock.

It is particularly advantageous to assign a different further treatment device to each exit door (e.g. quenching baths with different quenching temperatures, hardening press or the like). The exit door is advantageously connected to the associated further processing device via a lock in order to avoid disturbances in the gas atmosphere.

The furnace shown in Figure 1 consists of the heat insulated furnace walls 1, which shield the interior of the furnace from the outside air. In these insulating walls 1, an entrance door E and up to three exit doors A1, A2, A3 are provided. In this horizontal section, all three possible exit doors are shown poses. Heating elements 2 are provided in the furnace interior delimited by the insulating walls 1. The grids R1, R2, R3 and R4 are located on a turntable D which rotates about the axis X. The turntable D is fed through the entrance door E with these grates and the batch to be treated, the turntable being rotated by a rotating unit which corresponds to the angle of a grate after each insertion of a grate. If the batch intended for the furnace is present in the furnace, the temperature is increased and the intended heat treatment can be carried out. Depending on the further treatment after the goods have been heated, the grates with the batch leave the oven via exit doors A 1 or A2 or A3.

The furnace 10 is fed through the entrance door E, which is preceded by a lock S1. The grids are provided on tracks 11 and 12. The grids including the batch leave the furnace via the exit door A3 and are fed to the quench bath 13. Here too, a lock S4 is provided between the exit door A3 and the bathroom 13. The batch is moved further in the direction 14, while the gratings are optionally fed to the washing machine 15 with a new batch. Finally, the grates pass the tempering furnace 16 with a new batch. The grates, including the batch located on the inside, reach the entrance door E via the conveyor tracks 12 and 11.

Fig. 3 shows another embodiment of the invention with two quenching baths. The furnace 10 is fed again via the lock S1 and the grates can leave the furnace via the exit A2 or A3. The quench bath 17 is downstream of the exit A2 via the lock S3 switches, the quenching bath 13, as shown in FIG. 2, is connected downstream of the output A3 via the lock S4. For the bathroom 17 bsw. a salt bath and an oil bath can be used for bath 13. However, quenching baths of the same type can also be used, which differ in temperature. The arrangement of the washing machine 15 and the tempering furnace 16 corresponds to the embodiment shown in FIG. 2.

The bath 18 can be designed as a water bath. However, it can also be a salt hot bath or an oil hot bath which differs in temperature from baths 13 and 17, respectively. The arrangement of the washing machine 15 and the starting furnace 16 corresponds to the statements in FIGS. 2 and 3.

Die Anordnung der Waschmaschine 15 und des Anlaßofens 16 entspricht ebenfalls den vorhergehenden Figuren.FIG. 5 shows another embodiment, here a manipulator or robot 20 is connected downstream of the exit door A2. This robot takes the heated objects and places them in a further processing device, e.g. a hardness press 21. As in the previous figures, the exit door A3 is followed by a quench bath 13 via a lock. The arrangement of the washing machine 15 and the starting furnace 16 also corresponds to the previous figures.

The invention shown in Figures 1 to 5 enables a universally applicable rotary hearth furnace. By installing several quenching baths on such an oven, the flexibility of an oven system can be increased considerably. For many hardening units, batches of various qualities can be subjected to various heat treatments at short intervals. The advantage of the rotary hearth furnace system is in the see lower investment costs. A chamber furnace system with the same flexibility would require three furnaces. In addition, it must be taken into account that such a rotary hearth batch furnace has the lowest energy consumption, since it can be used better and has little downtime like a chamber furnace system.

It is also possible to easily expand an existing rotary hearth furnace later.
