Claims (6)

1. Apparatus for filling sacks (16) comprising gripping means (17, 18), which serve to hold the flat sacks adjacent to their opening-defining edges and their side edges and have clamping jaws for engaging the outside side faces of the sack, as well as mutually opposite end faces, which are spaced a predetermined distance apart, also comprising suckers (19, 20), which engage mutually opposite side faces adjacent to the opening-defining edges and pull open said edges, and a filling pipe (3), which is provided with filling funnel halves (1, 2), which are pivotally movable in mutually opposite senses about parallel axes (7, 8) and comprise spreading plates for pulling open the opening-defining edges, characterized in that the pivotal axes (7, 8) of the filling funnel halves (1, 2) extend transversely to the line which connects the gripping means (17, 18) and the spreading plates of the filling funnel halves (1, 2) have substantially convex profiles, which have outwardly faces apices, which are mirror images of each other and disposed on the vertical plane of symmetry of the gripping means (17, 18).
2. Apparatus according to claim 1, characterized in that the profiles of the filling funnel halves (1, 2) have an approximately circular or elliptical configuration.
3. Apparatus according to claim 1, characterized in that the profiles of the filling funnel halves (1, 2) have the configuration of an isosceles triangle.
4. Apparatus according to any of the preceding claims, characterized in that the side edges of the profiled surface are connected to sheet metal elements of the filling funnel halves (1, 2), and said sheet metal elements are parallel to the pivotal axes and together with the profiled sheet metal elements define passages (5).
5. Apparatus according to any of the preceding claims, characterized in that side walls (1.1, 1.2), which are parallel to the plane in which the filling funnel halves (1, 2) are pivotally movable, are provided at the side edges of the spreading plates and overlap each other throughout their height when the filling funnel halves are in their swung- out position.
6. Apparatus according to any of the preceding claims, characterized in that the end edges and side walls (1.1, 1.2) are in sealing contact with each other when the filling funnel halves (1, 2) are in their swung-in position.
