Description

Imidazolinderivate der Formeln I - III verwendet:

It is known that washed textiles, especially those made from cellulose fibers, have an unpleasant hardening after drying. This occurs particularly when the laundry is done in the washing machine. Such undesirable hardening of the handle can be eliminated by treating the textiles after washing in a rinsing bath with cationic substances which contain at least two long-chain aliphatic residues in the molecule. In practice, the water-dispersible dialkyldimethylammonium salts or imidazoline derivatives of the formulas I - III are used in particular for this purpose:
Figure imgb0001
Figure imgb0002
Figure imgb0003

In these formulas, R 1 is alkyl or alkenyl with 8-22, preferably 10-18, carbon atoms, R 2 alkyl with 1-4 carbon atoms, preferably methyl, R 3 is methyl or hydrogen, x is 1-5 and A is an anion such as C1 (-) , Br (-) , CH 3 OSO 3 (-) or CH 3 OPO 3 (-) . Depending on the nature of the alkyl radical R 1 , the products of these formulas I - III have a liquid or solid consistency. If R 1 is a saturated residue, the product is solid at room temperature. The transport then takes place in heated tankers or rail tank cars. It is delivered in barrels for transport to overseas. The manufacturers of fabric softeners then have the products transferred to heated tank systems. If the raw material is processed, the warmed-up product is dispersed in hot water. If barrel goods are processed, the products must first be liquefied in a barrel heating system and can then be further processed.

So entsprechen in der weichmachenden Wirkung 1 kg der Verbindungstypen Formel I bis III mit gesättigtem Rest R1 ca. 1,33 kg der Verbindungstypen der Formel I bis III mit ungesättigtem Rest R1.If, on the other hand, the alkyl radicals of the compounds I - III consist of unsaturated units, these derivatives are liquid at room temperature. They can be processed into dispersions with cold water. Liquid fabric softener raw materials, however, have a reduced softening effect compared to the saturated derivatives. In order to achieve comparable grip properties, much more cationic substance has to be offered to the tissue in the case of unsaturated compounds. Thus, in the softening effect, 1 kg of the types of compounds of the formula I to III with a saturated radical R 1 corresponds to approximately 1.33 kg of the types of compound of the formula I to III with an unsaturated radical R 1 .

Compounds of the formulas I-III with saturated alkyl groups are therefore preferred, but these have the disadvantages described above for the manufacturer of ready-to-use fabric softeners. In order to avoid these disadvantages, it is therefore the task of the producers of the quaternary ammonium compounds mentioned to make these compounds available to the processing company in such a way that heating or liquefaction of these raw materials is unnecessary. This is done in such a way that the manufacturer produces the quaternary ammonium compounds conditions in the form of a highly concentrated liquid formulation, known as a pre-concentrate. With water alone, however, such high concentration settings can not be produced, is obtained so that only L ö- solutions with a very low content of active substance. It has now been found that significantly higher concentrations can be achieved if the quaternary ammonium compounds are combined with a liquid fatty amine oxyethylate and with a paraffin, a fatty alcohol, a fatty acid, a fatty acid ester, a polyglycol or a polyglycol ester or mixtures thereof.

These are substances or auxiliaries, such as cationic or nonionic surface-active substances, solubilizers such as e.g. p-cumene sulfonate, electrolytes, acidifying agents such as e.g. Phosphoric acid, acetic acid, organic complexing agents, optical brighteners as well as colors and fragrances. These concentrated premixes are prepared by simply stirring the individual components in water in the stated ratio. These premixes can be easily diluted with water for the production of commercially available fabric softeners with an active substance content of approx. 4 to 8%. With correspondingly less water, it is also possible to produce so-called 3-fold, 4-fold, 6-fold or 8-fold concentrates. These fabric softeners are used as usual by adding them to the last rinsing bath after the textile washing and then drying the textile material.

By adding water, emulsifiers, acid, and liquefier, commercially available fabric softening agents with about 5-8% softening substance content can be produced from the examples according to the invention. Common substances such as e.g. nonionic surfactants of the type nonylphenol oxethylates or alcohol oxethylates are used. It is also no problem to use concentrated fabric softener such as 3-fold concentrates, 4-fold concentrates, 6-fold concentrates.

In the following examples, some ready-to-use laundry softeners are described in the form of so-called triple concentrates, which are produced from the premixes described above.

Getrennt davon löst man 0,5 g Na-para-Cumolsulfonat (40 %) sowie 8 ml 1n H3P04 in 70,10 ml kaltem Wasser. Diese Lösung wird in die Vormischung eingerührt. Man erhält eine stabile Emulsion. Die Viskosität beträgt ca. 100 mPas.20 g of the premix from Example 1 are mixed with 0.9 g of perfume and 0.5 g of a nonionic emulsifier of the type nonylphenol + 10 EO. Separately, 0.5 g of Na-para-cumene sulfonate (40%) and 8 ml of 1N H 3 P0 4 are dissolved in 70.10 ml of cold water. This solution is stirred into the premix. A stable emulsion is obtained.
