Definitions
- the invention relates to a concrete protective housing for receiving and storing a fuel element storage container that is loaded with spent nuclear reactor fuel elements and is suitable for transport and storage, the clear dimensions of the concrete protective housing being somewhat larger than the external dimensions of the fuel element container.
- the fuel assembly tanks be placed in silo tanks made of concrete or reinforced concrete.
- These silo containers forming a concrete protective housing can have different designs.
- the protective container has lateral supply air ducts on the lower edge of the casing and lateral exhaust air ducts in the region of the upper casing edge below the lid on the older, unpublished EP-81 102 674.9 (EP-AI-0 039 785 ).
- the arrangement of these exhaust air and supply air channels results in natural convection within the concrete protective housing, which is used to dissipate the heat of decay.
- the invention is based on the object of designing a concrete protective housing for receiving fuel element containers in such a way that simple monitoring of the fuel element containers is possible during their intermediate storage.
- the shell of the concrete protective housing has inclined radial ventilation openings at different heights from the horizontal and that on the inside of the container shell embedded in the concrete measuring probes are also arranged at different heights and are designed as temperature sensors so that the temperature sensors Use the radial ventilation holes to record any temperature profile that may arise differently.
- the radial ventilation openings that deviate from the horizontal increase natural convection while simultaneously reducing the radiation emission.
- the temperature sensors mounted at different heights can detect a temperature profile that may arise differently due to the radial ventilation holes.
- the entire length of the fuel assembly can be monitored by the invention, which is advantageous in the event of different cooling or post-decay heat.
- the concrete protective housing consists of a base part 3 in the form of a pallet, a cylindrical concrete protective jacket 4 placed thereon and a cylindrical cover 5 lying on the concrete protective jacket 4.
- the foot part consists of a square base plate 6, at the corners of which a foot 7 is arranged, so that the foot part 3 is designed as a pallet that can be driven under.
- the cylindrical concrete jacket 4 is placed on the foot part 3 and aligned with the foot part 3 by suitable centering devices (not shown here).
- the concrete protective jacket 4 has recesses 9 at its lower end, which serve as supply air ducts.
- the cover 5 lying on the concrete protective jacket 4 also has recesses 11 in the edge area on its surface facing the jacket 4, which serve as exhaust air ducts.
- a fuel element container 12 shown here in broken lines, is arranged upright.
- the container jacket 4 is penetrated by radial ventilation openings 13 which are inclined from the horizontal. At different heights, temperature sensors 14 are embedded in the inside of the container jacket, which are connected via appropriate electrical connecting lines 15 to a connection 16 located on the outside of the container jacket 4.
- the fuel assembly 12 When the fuel assembly 12 is delivered to the intermediate storage facility, the fuel assembly 12 is placed on the base plate 6 of the foot part 3. The concrete protective jacket 4 is then placed over the base part 3 over the fuel element container 12.
- the contents of the entire concrete protective housing 3, 4, 5 are now moved to the storage area by means of a suitable lifting truck, which is preferably located outdoors.
- a suitable lifting truck which is preferably located outdoors.
- the electrical connection between the temperature sensors 14 that monitor the temperature inside the concrete protective housing can be established by a simple plug connection on the outer surface of the container shell 4 and the overall surveillance system.
- the temperature sensors 14 and the electrical connecting lines 15 can already be inserted into the mold during the production of the concrete protective jacket 4, so that they are enclosed by the setting molding compound.
