Bei Tunnelöfen, die mit Kohlefeuerungen ausgerüstet sind, ist die Beseitigung der unvermeidbar anfallenden Asche mit großen Problemen verbunden. Bisher sind dazu sogenannte Entaschungskammern vorgesehen, in die der Tunnelofenwagen nach Verlassen des Tunnelofens gefahren wird. In diesen Kammern wird die auf dem Tunnelofen und dem Besatz lagernde Asche durch eine große Luftmenge losgerissen und abgesaugt. Abgesehen von dem für die Entaschungskammern erforderlichen zusätzlichen großen Bauaufwand ist es bei dieser Art der Entaschung unumgänglich, daß die Asche im gesamten Ziegelwerk verteilt wird. Oftmals stehen nämlich die Türen des Ofengebäudes sowie der Entaschungskammern und des Tunnelofens über längere Zeit offen, zumindest aber müssen diese zum Ein- und Ausfahren der Tunnelofenwagen geöffnet werden, so daß große Luftbewegungen auch in der Ofenhalle und ein dadurch bedingtes Austreten der Asche nicht zu verhindern sind.In tunnel kilns that are equipped with coal firing, the removal of the inevitable ashes is associated with major problems. Werden nämlich unmittelbar im Tunnelofen Düsen und Absaugkanäle vorgesehen, so ist es möglich, die Asche, bevor der Tunnelofenwagen den Tunnelofen verläßt, abzublasen und abzusaugen, so daß keine Asche nach außen gelangt. Die Tunnelofenwagen und der Besatz sind auf diese Weise hinreichend von der anhaftenden Asche zu befreien, die Verschmutzungsgefahr ist somit, da mit Asche bestückte Tunnelofenwagen nicht außerhalb des Tunnelofens bewegt werden, außerst gering.
