Abstract

Card slivers are laid side by side next to one another and shaped to form a lap, and the card slivers and/or the lap are drawn. According to the invention, the lap is deposited in folds into a rectangular container (16), presented in this container (16) to the combing machine (17) and fed from this into the combing machine (17). The result of new developments in combing is that, with an increase in the size of the rolls used for presenting the lap to the combing machine, the rolls become more difficult to handle. By increasing the winding speed, moreover, the centrifugal forces occurring during winding become higher and impede the winding process. Furthermore, there is the danger that adjacent lap layers will shift relative to one another as a result of the torques or by fulling processes. All these disadvantages will be avoided according to the present invention. <IMAGE>

Description

The present invention relates to a method for preparing the combing of cotton fibers by means of a combing machine, in which method cards made of cards are placed side by side side by side and formed into a cotton wool.

It is known from French patent specification No. 858 326 to warp card slings in a drafting system, to line them up and to store them in folds in a mobile container. However, this patent does not contain any information regarding the further use of the tapes stored in the container.

According to the general prospectus of Maschinenfabrik Rieter AG, No. 1105 dV.63, a cotton wool to be combed, consisting of essentially parallel fibers, is presented to the combing machine as cotton wool wound into coils and fed into the combing machine while unwinding. These wraps are manually placed on the combing machine and in their working position. In order to have to carry out the insertion of new wraps less often, that is to say one time savings and thus to achieve increased efficiency, the demand for larger coils is raised today in the combing. Larger wraps, however, result in part that they are impractically heavy to handle. On the other hand, the wadding to be wound is supplied at a speed of at least 120 meters per minute, so that the fiber material must be wound onto the winding sleeve at a relatively high rotational speed. This in turn means that the maximum winding diameter that can be achieved is reduced by the higher winding speed. Thus, the winding speed or the maximum diameter of the roll cannot be increased further beyond a certain value in the fiber wadding. If one tries to counteract these conditions by pressing on the fiber wadding, the latter can later no longer be handled in a satisfactory manner, since wadding which has been unwound later and fed into the combing machine proves to be "hairy". As a result, the quality of the subsequent product suffers. As a result of the centrifugal force acting on the cotton, there is a less tight winding. Also, when the winding is rotated, the layers are displaced relative to one another as a result of flexing processes or the occurring torques, which likewise leads to "hairiness" when the winding is subsequently unwound. The above phenomena are also unintentionally brought about by the improvement of the drafting systems known today. With today's drafting systems, one obtains a better parallelism of the fibers of the cotton wool compared to earlier. On the other hand, the better the parallelism of the fibers, the lower the tensile strength of the fiber wadding. The improvement in the drafting systems thus brings about a reduction in the tensile strength of the wadding, which the above-mentioned difficulties arising from the wraps are magnified.

According to the present invention, these disadvantages are to be avoided by placing the cotton in folds in a rectangular container, presenting it to the combing machine in this container and feeding it into the combing machine from this container.

The tapes produced by these are placed in cans 12. By means of the latter, the Kardenbaen be - the brought to a track 13 in which a Delay of the tapes is made. The warped data arrive in container 14, in which they are presented to a cotton machine 15, on which the tapes are placed next to one another and combined to form a cotton wool. After leaving the cotton machine 15, the latter is placed in folds in a rectangular container 16. The cotton wool is brought up to the combing machine 17 in the container 16 and is fed into the combing machine 17 from these containers 16.

A route 13 is shown in detail in FIG. 3. The card slivers 21 formed by the cards 11 are removed from the cans and fed to the drafting system 22. According to this example, six card slivers 21 are combined or compacted and stretched to six times the length by the drafting system 22.

In this way, a warped band 24 is formed on each half of the feed table 23. Each of these bands 24 is filled into a can 14.

In the wadding machine 15 shown in detail in FIGS. 4 and 5, the warped tapes 24 brought into the cans 14 are guided over the rods 27, placed side by side and combined to form a wad 26. The latter is carried between two conveyor belts 31, 32, which move in operation in the sense indicated by the arrows. Depending on the requirements, pairs of drafting rollers 38 serving to warp the bands can also be provided.

Below the conveyor belts 31, 32 there is a container 16. This is rectangular in shape and can be moved on wheels 33. Inside the Be haelters 16 is a plate 34 which is supported by springs 35. By swiveling the bands 31, 32 around the rollers 36 and by correspondingly simultaneously reducing the angle α, the rollers 37 move to the right in a horizontal direction. They can generally be moved back and forth in the horizontal direction over the container 16. If cotton wool 26 is supplied from the outlet slot between the rollers 37 during operation, the cotton wool 26 is deposited in folds in the container 16, as shown by the broken line.

The elasticity of the springs 35 is adjusted in such a way that with increasing amount of cotton on the plate 34 the plate decreases by such amounts that the cotton wool 26 always extends to the upper edge of the container 16. In this way, a very clean and exact fold-like deposit of the cotton 26 is obtained.

In practice, the cotton to be combed has been wound up into coils which have been brought to the combing machine 17. While the cotton was unwound from the roll, the latter was then fed into the combing machine 17. Instead of such wraps, rectangular containers 16 are used according to the invention, which are filled with pleated cotton 26. The method according to FIG. 1 thus forms a simple and advantageous preparation for combing, in which all the disadvantages and difficulties mentioned above are avoided. The fold-down placement can easily be done with sufficient speed and there is no disturbing centrifugal force. The load on the cotton 26 on tension is so small that the tensile strength of the same is practically irrelevant. A mutual one Moving neighboring positions as a result of walking processes or the occurring torques cannot deteriorate. The provision of a spring plate 34 allows the cotton to be deposited very cleanly. If the container 16 is additionally provided with wheels, the weight of the amount of wadding to be used is practically completely free. There are only space issues to consider. A quantity of cotton wool of 15 kg or more, if it is in the form of a wrap, is already difficult for transporting, for example, female editorial staff, but does not pose any difficulties in the form of folds stored in a container.

In the exemplary embodiment according to FIG. 2, the card slivers coming from a carding machine 11 are fed directly into a cotton machine 15 as shown in FIGS. 4 and 5 in cans 12. The cotton wool formed by this is collected in a rectangular vessel 41. A sweeping section 42 is then provided. In this, several wadding brought in different vessels 41 are combined, processed into a new wadding and placed in a rectangular container 16. By means of this container 16, this cotton is presented to a combing machine 17 and fed from the container 16 into the combing machine 17.

4 and 5, wadding 26 produced by means of wadding machines, such as the wadding 26 shown in FIGS. 4 and 5, are continuously placed on one another on an endless conveyor belt 44 and taken along by it, as is shown for three wadding 26. The superimposed wadding 26 passes from the conveyor belt 44 via a drafting device 45, in which they are warped, for example six times. The cotton 46 supplied by the drafting device 45 becomes, as already 4 and 5 for the cotton 26 was shown, by means of two endless wheels 31, 32 rotating around the rollers 36, 37. 6, the direction of movement of the conveyor belts 31, 32 is indicated by arrows. In the manner shown with reference to FIGS. 4 and 5, the cotton 46 is placed in folds in a container 16. This is also provided with a plate 34 resting on springs 35, by means of which an exact, fold-wise depositing of the cotton wool is possible.

If one sets the case, the sweeping section 42 is presented in a known manner instead of the rectangular vessels 41. Under such circumstances, the difficulties in winding the cotton emerging from the wadding machine 15 would generally not yet be very great, because the parallel position of the fibers of the wadding has not yet progressed very much in this production stage and the tearing thereof is not yet so easy. Under certain circumstances, however, it may already be advantageous for the formation of the cotton 46 in the sweeping section 42 if a winding process is no longer used in this working phase, but if the rectangular vessels 41 shown are used instead of winding. These are also advantageously provided with wheels.
