Abstract

In the known projectiles, a groove is provided in the projectile body (10) for fastening the hood (18) to the projectile body (10). This groove in the projectile body (10) is undesirable for armor-piercing projectiles. This groove can be avoided by sticking a hood (18) onto the projectile body (10). By tilting (29) on the inner surface (28) of the hood (18) lying on the projectile body (10), an exact alignment and centering of the hood (18) on the projectile body (10) is ensured.

Description

The invention relates to a method for fastening a ballistic hood to a projectile body, which has a conical, smooth surface for receiving the hood.

In a known projectile of this type (see CH-PS 622 883), an annular groove is provided in the projectile body for fastening the hood to the projectile body, into which an annular rib of the hood projects. Such a groove on the circumference of the projectile body is undesirable for armor-piercing projectiles because of its notch effect.

The invention has for its object to develop a fastening method for the hood, with which a disadvantageous for the armor-piercing effect of the projectile groove is avoided.

The inventive method with which this object is achieved is characterized in that
  • a) the ballistic hood is provided with ring-shaped, deformable ribs and adhesive on its inner surface lying against the projectile body,
  • b) the projectile body in a chuck and
  • c) the hood is centered in a press-fit chuck and
  • d) the ring-shaped, deformable ribs and the inner surface provided with adhesive are printed on the conical, smooth surface of the projectile body with the aid of a pressure stamp.

An implementation example of the inventive method for attaching a ballistic hood to a Projectile body is described in detail below with reference to the accompanying drawing. It shows:
  • 1 is a view, partly in section, of a projectile body with a ballistic hood and with the fastening tools,
  • Fig. 2 shows a section through the ballistic hood on an enlarged scale.

Behind this hood support 11 there is a cylindrical hood centering 12 and a conical section 13 to which a cylindrical section 14 is connected. In the rear part of the projectile body 10, two circumferential grooves 15 are provided, which are used to anchor the projectile body 10 in a sabot, not shown. A light set sleeve 17 is anchored in the conical, rear end face 16. A ballistic hood 18, described with reference to FIG. 2, is attached to this projectile body by a method described below.

As shown in FIG. 1 is at the projectile body 10 in a chuck 19 and the ballistic hood 18 extends in an up p ressfutter 20 for pressing the ballistic cap 18 is used on the projectile body 10, a pressure stamp 21. The projectile body 10 located in the chuck 19 is supported finally on a support sleeve 22.

Vor diesen Rippen 29 ist eine Aussparung 30 zur Aufnahme von Klebstoff 31 vorgesehen (Fig. 1).2, the ogive-shaped, ballistic hood 18 has a cavity which is formed by three sections, namely a front, conical section 23, a rear, conical section 24 and a central, cylindrical section 25. The rear conical section 24 opens into a cylindrical part 26. Between the central section 25 and the cylindrical Part 26 of the rear, conical section 24 is provided with a conical support surface 27 which is supported on the conical hood support 11. The inner surface 28 of the rear, conical section 24 has a number of relatively easily deformable ribs 29. A recess 30 for receiving adhesive 31 is provided in front of these ribs 29 (FIG. 1).

To attach the ballistic hood 18 to the projectile body 10, the projectile body 10 is first inserted into the chuck 19 until it is supported on the support sleeve 22. Furthermore, the ballistic hood 18, after it has been provided with adhesive in the recess 30, is inserted into the press-fit chuck 20 and pressed onto the projectile body 10. Finally, with the aid of the pressure stamp 21, the inner surface 28 is pressed against the smooth surface 32 of the conical section 13 on the projectile body 10.

The ribs 29 are deformed and thus enable the ballistic hood 18 to be precisely centered, thereby preventing the hood 18 from sitting obliquely on the projectile body 10.

Ferner gewährleistet der Klebstoff 31 eine zuverlässige Befestigung der Haube 18 am Geschosskörper 10.Thanks to the described method for fastening the ballistic hood 18 to the projectile body 10, it is no longer necessary to arrange fastening grooves on the projectile body 10 for fastening the hood 18 to the projectile body 10. Thanks to the conical support surface 27 of the hood 18, which is supported on the conical hood support 11 and thanks to the ribs 29, which are supported on the smooth surface 32 of the conical section 13 on the projectile body 10, the hood 18 is reliably centered on the projectile body 10 guaranteed. In addition, the cylindrical part 26 of the hood 18 is pushed onto the cylindrical hood centering 12 with a press fit. Furthermore, the adhesive 31 ensures reliable Attachment of the hood 18 to the projectile body 10.
