Description

The invention relates to a fiber mixer which is provided for installation in a free space or a chamber in which the mixed fiber material is deposited.

Such a fiber mixer has become known from German patent specification 330 799, in which the fibers to be mixed are supplied to the room by an air stream and which has a rotatable distributor device which is acted upon by the air stream carrying the fibers.

Proceeding from this known fiber mixer, the object of the invention is to design the fiber mixer in such a way that supplied fibers of different properties are mixed with one another so carefully that large batches with consistently uniform properties can be produced.

The fibers can differ either by their color or by their length or by the fiber diameter; however, fibers of different origins can also be mixed with one another, for example fibers of wool, cotton or synthetic.

Mixing such fibers becomes particularly difficult when the fiber lengths and fiber diameters, but especially the specific weights thereof, differ significantly from one another. Then, in the known fiber mixers, there is always a certain segregation, which is caused by the fact that the heavier fibers or the fibers with the higher sinking speed separate more or less strongly from the other fibers in the air flow.

All the more, the fibers have to be evenly distributed and mixed by the fiber mixer so that a batch of completely uniform appearance and properties is achieved.

In the known fiber mixers, it is generally not possible to mix the batches desired in practice up to 20 tons and above so carefully that no differences within the batch can be perceived on the finished product.

The above object is achieved according to the invention by a fiber mixer according to the features of claim 1.

The fiber material opened and swirled in a device upstream of the chamber is fed to the fiber mixer through a wide tube by an air stream and is now whirled up again and distributed so that no separation due to the known wind separation effect occurs. This is achieved in particular by the fact that the air supplying the fibers, which still gets into the supply pipe socket and then into the rotatable pipe socket, is broken after it emerges from the latter by the rotating drum, which is covered with blades, so that the dreaded wind separation effect no longer occurs . Rather, the mixed fiber material is whirled and deposited completely uniformly in a certain area, and the fibers of various types are then randomly mixed up in the chamber in such a way that one can almost speak of a homogeneous mixture. In any case, the optical impression of the fiber material mixed and deposited by this fiber mixer, for example in the case of elongated rectangular chambers, is exactly the same at one end of the chamber as at the other. Accordingly, the other properties of the fiber mixture do not change from place to place, but are completely uniform.

In order to improve the mixing effect even more, the horizontal axis for the drum is attached to an approximately vertically extending arm, which is connected in a rotationally fixed manner on the upper side to the rotatable pipe socket. The drum now rotates not only about its horizontal axis, but also about a vertical axis that coincides with the central axis of the feed pipe socket or the rotatable pipe socket. The drum can be either cylindrical or conical.

The drum is either freely rotatable and is then set to move by itself with the fiber material by the air impinging on the individual blades, or it is driven. The drive can be done either by a special motor or by a connection to the drive of the rotatable pipe socket.

The invention is explained in more detail below in an exemplary embodiment with reference to the drawing.

  • 1 shows a longitudinal section through a fiber mixer according to the invention;
  • Fig. 2 is a plan view of the drum in the direction of arrow 11-11 in Fig. 1 and
  • 3 shows a plan view of the device in FIG. 1.

In Fig. 1, which also represents a section along the cranked section plane I-I in Fig., The fiber mixer is shown with all the individual parts. The fibers are fed to the fixed feed pipe socket 1 on the upper side by an air stream, for example by flanging a pipe or a pipe bend there. On the underside, this fixed feed pipe connection is followed by a somewhat shorter pipe connection 2, which overlaps the supply pipe connection 1 and can be rotated relative to it. The pipe socket 2 carries on the upper side a radially outwardly projecting ring 19 which receives a roller bearing which guarantees easy rotation relative to the fixed feed pipe socket 1. In this case, the rolling elements 18 roll on the outer jacket of the feed pipe socket 1, from which a narrow ring 17 projects outwards, on which the rolling elements 18 rest.

The bearing is closed at the top by a disk 20.

The rotary drive of the pipe socket 2 takes place via the aforementioned ring 19, in that a friction wheel 4, which is driven by an electric motor 3, is placed on the outside of the latter. Both the electric motor and the friction wheel are mounted and supported in a projection of a one-armed lever 14, which is pivotably mounted at 15 in a frame U i, 11, 12, 13. A helical compression spring 16 supported on this frame presses the lever 14 and thus the friction wheel 4 in the direction of the ring 19, so that a drive torque can be transmitted from the friction wheel to the ring and thus to the pipe socket 2.

On the rotatable pipe socket 2, an essentially vertically extending arm 9 is firmly connected to the outside, which therefore rotates with the pipe socket 2 when it rotates.

At its lower end, this arm 9 carries a horizontally extending axis 6, on which a drum 8 is rotatably mounted via roller bearings 21 and 22 and support disks 23 and 24. This drum is conical and closed at one end by the support disk 24 and an additional disk 25, at the other, tapered end by a disk 26. On its circumference, the conical drum carries blades 7, which are acted upon by the fibers falling out of the lower opening 5 of the rotatable pipe socket 2 and set the drum in rotation.

The holding frame for the fixed feed pipe connection 1 consists of two narrow supports 11 and 12 which run tangentially to the connection 1 and parallel to one another and at the end of which a cross strut 10 or 13 connecting them to one another.
