- the subject of the present invention is a stop device, in particular for a pivoting door of a motor vehicle, comprising an arm intended to be pivotally mounted on one of the parts constituted by the door and by the fixed upright on which the door is mounted, this arm having the shape of a blade, in contact with the two opposite edges of which are applied two rollers, one of which is fixed and the other of which, mobile, is subjected to an elastic action which creates a contact pressure between each of the two rollers and the arm, the latter being provided with a catch for retaining the fixed roller in the open position of the door.
- rollers used are solid rollers which, being subject to wear which is all the less avoidable as they are not protected from dust and weathering, require a periodic lubrication, failing which the stop device would become inoperative after a relatively short time.
- the object of the invention is therefore to provide a door stop device which can have a long service life without lubrication being necessary.
- each roller consists of two cylindrical rings nested one inside the other, which each have at one of their ends a flat collar oriented radially towards the outer, the flange of the inner ring having a radial dimension such that it protrudes from the cylindrical surface of the outer ring and that thus a sliding contact can be established, not only radially between the two rings, but also axially between the flanges and the respective external faces of the arm.
- the two rings are advantageously provided with a surface coating in a sliding varnish, made of a material with a low coefficient of friction, such as polytetrafluoroethylene.
- the invention is shown in its application to a vehicle door, but it is obvious that the stop device can be used for other pivoting closing members of the vehicle, such as the engine hood, the trunk, tailgate or the like, or even in other types of device, for example for covers for household appliances, suitcases, chests and the like.
- the term "door” is used here in a very broad sense to designate these various pivoting closing members.

- a coating 58 of polytetrafluoroethylene, or of another material with a low coefficient of friction, is applied superficially on the two rings 46, 47, to improve the sliding characteristics, not only between the two rings, but also between the internal ring 46 and the axis 19, or the element 30, and between the flanges 56, 57 and, on the one hand, the internal faces 18a, 18b of the branches 18 of the fitting 14, on the other hand, the lateral faces 4c, 4d of the articulated arm 4.
