Description

The invention relates to a device according to the preamble of claim 1 (H-A-596 407), that is to say a so-called expansion joint element or dilation element.

In the German patent application P 29 41 365.8, which does not count towards the prior art, such an element is also described in which an intermediate sheet metal strip is provided for holding the sheet metal cover on the synthetic rubber central strip, which is vulcanized onto the synthetic rubber central strip and with which the sheet metal cover is attached individual consecutive positions is connected. The intermediate sheet metal strip used for mounting is therefore an additional component.

The sheet metal cover serves to protect the synthetic rubber center strip against all kinds of environmental influences, for example against heat, ultraviolet radiation, ozone, air pollution, dust or larger parts which could cause damage.

From time to time there is a need to check the vulcanization connection between the sheet metal edge strips and the synthetic rubber center strip for leaks. For this purpose, the metal cover must be removed in order to be able to carry out a visual inspection or peel inspection of the rubber-metal connection.

The invention is intended to provide a device with which two things can be achieved at the same time, namely once to create a possibility of attaching a continuous sheet metal cover from the outset prior to laying in prefabrication, so that a uniform, complete component can be delivered to the construction site can be bent or folded at the construction site together with the sheet metal cover as a whole, and at the same time to create a possibility to easily remove and re-attach the sheet metal cover as a whole at any time after laying the element, for control purposes in the bent or folded state of the element or the sheet metal cover. Overall, a simple structure, a simple and inexpensive manufacture and a simple processing of the device with the possibility of checking at any time after installation are sought.

According to the invention, this is essentially achieved in that the sheet metal cover is vulcanized continuously over the entire length of the device with a width that is considerably narrower than the area between the inner edges of the sheet metal edge strips.

An additional bracket for the sheet metal cover is therefore not necessary. The sheet metal cover can be applied from the start in the manufacture of the device. The device can be bent or folded together with the sheet metal cover as a whole at the construction site without the sheet metal cover bulging or lifting off. At the same time, however, it is possible to easily remove and replace the sheet metal cover at any time for checking purposes, even after installation and when bent. This can e.g. by specifically heating the sheet metal cover in the vulcanization area along the median strip, as a result of which the sheet metal cover detaches from the median strip. The actual device is therefore not removed. After checking the device, the sheet metal cover can then be vulcanized again or fastened in some other way.

It is particularly advantageous here that the width of the vulcanization area is very narrow compared to the width of the synthetic rubber center strip between the sheet metal edge strips. The parts of the synthetic rubber middle strip remaining between the vulcanization area and the sheet metal edge strips then remain freely movable for the shrinking and stretching movements to be absorbed by the device.

For the inclusion of these movements resulting from temperature differences, it is advantageous according to claim 2 if the synthetic rubber middle strip in those areas in which it is vulcanized with the sheet metal parts (sheet edge strip and sheet cover), i.e. that is, in the central region and in its regions adjacent to the sheet metal edge strips, it is thicker and in its intermediate areas which are not vulcanized with sheet metal are made thinner. The thinner areas then mainly absorb the dilation movements.

In a development of the invention according to claim 3, it is sufficient if the synthetic rubber middle strip is vulcanized to the underside of the inner edges of the sheet metal edge strips and to their inner edges. In the area under the sheet metal cover, the top of the central strip is then flush with the top of the two sheet metal edge strips. This not only results in a flat, low-profile design, but also avoids the risk that the synthetic rubber middle strip can detach or peel off from the sheet metal edge strips because the synthetic rubber is drawn from the underside of the sheet metal edge strips around their inner edge. The flat design also makes it easier to fold the device.

According to claim 4 can be achieved that the device with the sheet metal cover on the top is substantially flat, which is not only aesthetically advantageous, but also eliminates obstacles that z. B. would interfere with walking on a flat roof. Here too, the device has an overall low overall height.

Overall, the construction and manufacture of the device are thus simplified by the invention. The metal parts only need to be opened a surface are ground, namely the sheet metal edge strips on the underside at their edge area on which the central strip is vulcanized, and the cover plate also on its underside in the central area with which it is vulcanized onto the central strip. To manufacture the device, only a rubber blank has to be prepared and placed in the vulcanizing press.

From DE-OS 25 31 695 or the corresponding CH-PS 596 407, each Figure 2, a device is known in which a sheet metal cover directly covers the inner edges of the two lateral sheet metal edge strips, under which the rubber-elastic central strip is vulcanized on one side. However, between the sheet metal cover and the median strip there is only a liability in the entire central area and there in places, which is achieved by inserting a paper layer between the median strip on the one hand and the sheet metal edge strips and the sheet metal cover on the other hand, which has a perforation at the points where adhesion between sheet metal cover and median strip is desirable. As a result of this design, on the one hand, stretching of the synthetic rubber center strip transversely to the longitudinal direction of the device is hardly possible at the adhesion points, and, on the other hand, when the device is bent or folded over an axis lying transversely to the longitudinal direction, the sheet metal cover is displaced relative to the other parts of the device has the consequence that the sheet metal cover, depending on the direction of bending, bulges inwards or outwards or bends. As a result, the sheet metal cover can tear off at the adhesion points from the synthetic rubber center strip. The points of adhesion formed by the perforation in the paper are no longer recognizable or accessible from the outside after the dilatation element has been laid, so that it is difficult to remove the sheet metal cover for control purposes and it is impossible to re-attach it. After removing the sheet metal cover, there is also no possibility of checking the rubber-metal connection because, because of the paper intermediate layer, there is no liability on the edge between the central strip and sheet metal edge strip exposed after the sheet metal cover has been removed. Rather, due to the paper liner, there are pockets that extend laterally under the sheet metal edge strips. The vulcanization area between the rubber and metal outside these pockets is therefore not accessible for inspection even after the sheet metal cover has been removed.

The bags mentioned are also disadvantageous for another reason: sand, dirt and other foreign bodies can penetrate into these bags and, due to the constant expansion movements, work into the vulcanization area between rubber and metal, which can damage the connection, so that there is a risk of The rubber is peeled off from the sheet metal edge strip. This risk of peeling is avoided in the invention because there are no pockets. In the invention, the sheet metal cover is easier to remove by targeted heating than in the last-described prior art.

In another embodiment according to Fig. 1 of the mentioned DE-OS 25 31 695 or CH-PS 596 407, the sheet metal cover is not above the sheet metal edge strips, but is inserted below the sheet metal edge strips in side pockets between the sheet metal edge strips and the synthetic rubber strip. An intermediate paper layer is also provided here, so that the structure and manufacture are complicated. In addition, there is a risk that in this embodiment the sheet metal cover will pop out when folding, while on the other hand, after the element has been laid, the sheet metal cover can practically not be removed or removed at all. Because of the side pockets there are the same disadvantages as in the known embodiment described above, namely the possibility of incorporating contaminants and the risk of peeling.

An embodiment of the invention is described below with reference to the drawing.

Fig. 1 shows schematically a perspective end view of the device, wherein the synthetic rubber center strip already has the final cross-sectional shape that occurs during vulcanization and only the cover plate is arranged a little above the device for clarification.

Fig. 2 zeigt einen Querschnitt durch die Vorrichtung gemäß Fig. 1 im gebrauchsfertigen Zustand nach dem Vulkanisieren.FIG. 2 shows a cross section through the device according to FIG. 1 in the ready-to-use state after vulcanization.

The device (expansion joint element, dilatation element) consists of a central strip 1 made of rubber-elastic material (plastic, rubber or synthetic rubber, all in short also referred to as "synthetic rubber"), the lateral edges 1a of which each engage under a sheet metal edge strip 3. The lateral edges 1a of the central strip 1 are vulcanized onto the underside of the inner edge regions 3a of the sheet metal edge strips 3. The edge regions 11a of the central strip 1 are also vulcanized onto the lateral inner edges 3b of the sheet metal edge strips 3. The device is used, for example, to bridge a parting line on a building. When configured as a dilation element with zero movement (DE-PS 1 709 019), the device can be used to bridge a joint between sheet metal profiles on roof edges. The synthetic rubber center strip 1 takes up the movements resulting from temperature differences in the form of an expansion or contraction.

For the uses described 3c on the outer parts Sheet metal edge strips 3 roof covering sheets, not shown, for example made of roofing felt, or - in the case of a scissor-like device with zero-motion movement B! "'Cllprofile be attached to a roof edge - or shrinking movements of the components, the central stripe 1 itself shrinking or stretching due to its elasticity. In order to achieve stretching or shrinking preferably not at the vulcanization points but in the central region of the central stripe 1, its edge parts 1a are thicker and its middle part on both sides of a central region 5, which has a meaning to be described later, is made thinner in the regions 1b by depressions running in the longitudinal direction on the underside. This is only a preferred embodiment. Other qu Sectional designs of the median strip 1 possible.

The edge regions 1a of the central strip 1 are drawn around the inner edges 3b of the sheet metal edge strips 3, so that the upper sides of the inner edges 3a of the sheet metal edge strips 3 are flush with the upper side of the central strip 1 and form a continuous flat surface. The, as described below, the sheet metal cover 9 applied to the central strip 1 can have essentially the same thickness or height as the roof covering to be applied to the sheet metal edge strips 3, so that a practically flat roof surface results in the fully installed state.

The sheet metal cover 9, which overlaps and covers the inner edges 3a of the sheet metal edge strips 3, is vulcanized along the central region 5 directly onto the upper side of the central strip 1, and that throughout the entire length of the device. The width of the vulcanization area 5 is considerably narrower than the width of the synthetic rubber center strip between the sheet metal edge strips 3. There is no fixed connection between the side edges of the sheet metal cover 9 and the inner edges 3 a of the sheet metal edge strips 3, so that a displacement of the sheet metal edge strips 3 during the described movement of the device across the sheet metal cover 9 is possible.

Trotzdem ist eine Querverschiebung der Blechrandstreifen 3 gegenüber der Blechabdeckung 9 möglich, wobei zu bedenken ist, daß die in Betracht kommenden Bewegungswege sehr klein sind.2 shows, the inner edges 3a of the sheet metal edge strips 3 in the area under the sheet metal cover 9 are offset relative to the outer parts 3c of the sheet metal edge strips 3 by approximately the sheet metal thickness of the sheet metal cover 9. This configuration results when the device is pressed in the vulcanizing mold, the sheet metal cover 9, due to the pressure exerted, bending the edge regions 3a of the sheet metal edge strips 3 in the direction of the synthetic rubber center strip 1, that is to say perpendicularly to the sheet metal plane. The top of the outer parts 3c of the sheet metal edge strips 3 is then approximately flush with the top of the sheet metal cover 9, while the edge areas 3a of the sheet metal edge strips 3 are, so to speak, recessed within the synthetic rubber center strip 1. This gives you a design whose top surface is practically flat. Nevertheless, a transverse displacement of the sheet metal edge strips 3 with respect to the sheet metal cover 9 is possible, whereby it should be borne in mind that the movement paths under consideration are very small.

The expansion joint element or dilatation element, which is prefabricated in the factory, arrives as a whole with the sheet metal cover at the construction site and can be used there, for example, to bridge structural joints. It can also be folded several times across its longitudinal direction, which is easily possible due to the low overall height. The element can also be laid in the form of a gutter, the bending to form the gutter shape taking place transversely to the longitudinal direction of the element. The device according to the invention can also be used with particular advantage as a scissor-like dilation element with a zero point of movement (in the manner of a tuning fork) for bridging the joint between the ends of sheet metal roof edge profiles (DE-PS 1 709 019). In all cases, the entire width of the synthetic rubber center strip 1 between the inner edges 3b of the sheet metal edge strips 3 can be used to accommodate the movements occurring, although the movement is essentially recorded in the thinner areas 1b of the center strip 1.
