Abstract
Description
We know that in mechanics of the Verdol type, the paper is palpated by a series of needles, the vertical position of each of which varies depending on whether its lower end abuts against the paper or enters a hole in it. Each needle is associated with a stopper whose position varies as a function of that of the corresponding needle. Thus, if the stopper is located opposite one of the pushing elements of the train of bars, the advance of the latter causes the translation of the stopper and that of the corresponding needle in order to press the associated hook to this needle. On the contrary, if there is a hole, the needle descends more so that the stop escapes the action of the train of bars.
If you want to reverse the information read, that is to say translate the stop when a hole is under the needle considered, simply move all the elements of the train of bars; thus the stopper which was opposite one of the thrust elements no longer is and that which was not there is there. Of course the paper remains in place under the needles as long as the stops must be biased in the direction of their translation by the train of bars.
It is easily understood that the displacement of the latter entails the production of complicated mechanisms which increase the cost price of a mechanical arrangement thus arranged.
The improvements which are the subject of the present invention aim to remedy this drawback and to eliminate the vertical displacement of the pushing elements of the train of bars while minimizing the time of presence of the paper under the needles.
In accordance with the invention, it is no longer the pushing elements of the train of bars which are displaced but the points lettes. To do this, each of them has means of being associated with a movable plate which constitutes a kind of memory of the selection made. In fact, at each reading, the plate in question is moved to cooperate with a device for retaining the needles so that the selection can then be preserved even by uncoupling the latter and the paper. In this way provision is made to vertically move the entire support and paper advance system so that it can advance during the movement of the train of bars. An appreciable saving of time is thus obtained and a reduction in the pressure time of the needles on the paper so that the latter being less stressed has a greater longevity.

- Fig. 1 schematically represents a Verdol armor mechanism comprising application of the improvements according to the invention.
- Fig. 2 to 8 illustrate the operation of the reading device established in accordance with the invention.
- Fig. 9 to 12 are views similar respectively to FIG. 2, 4, 5 and 8 but relating to an alternative embodiment of the invention.
There is shown in fig. 1 the principle of Verdol mechanics comprising in the known manner a series of
In operation, the set of
For the manufacture of certain fabrics and in particular terry cloth, the paper is perforated in a strictly reverse manner at two successive positions. According to the invention there is provided a device capable of permitting the inversion of the selection without advancing the paper.
To this end, provision is made to place a
5).When the
7).In one or the other case as soon as the selection is complete, that is to say once the needles have completed their down into the holes in the paper or come up against it, the
3 et 7).It is easy to understand that the action of the
8).If you wish to invert the selection, you just have to move the
A device for reading the perforated paper has thus been produced comprising simple means for inverting the selection and which may advantageously include a system for storing the latter so as to save time on the advance of the paper.
