Description

We know that in mechanics of the Verdol type, the paper is palpated by a series of needles, the vertical position of each of which varies depending on whether its lower end abuts against the paper or enters a hole in it. Each needle is associated with a stopper whose position varies as a function of that of the corresponding needle. Thus, if the stopper is located opposite one of the pushing elements of the train of bars, the advance of the latter causes the translation of the stopper and that of the corresponding needle in order to press the associated hook to this needle. On the contrary, if there is a hole, the needle descends more so that the stop escapes the action of the train of bars.

If you want to reverse the information read, that is to say translate the stop when a hole is under the needle considered, simply move all the elements of the train of bars; thus the stopper which was opposite one of the thrust elements no longer is and that which was not there is there. Of course the paper remains in place under the needles as long as the stops must be biased in the direction of their translation by the train of bars.

It is easily understood that the displacement of the latter entails the production of complicated mechanisms which increase the cost price of a mechanical arrangement thus arranged.

The improvements which are the subject of the present invention aim to remedy this drawback and to eliminate the vertical displacement of the pushing elements of the train of bars while minimizing the time of presence of the paper under the needles.

In accordance with the invention, it is no longer the pushing elements of the train of bars which are displaced but the points lettes. To do this, each of them has means of being associated with a movable plate which constitutes a kind of memory of the selection made. In fact, at each reading, the plate in question is moved to cooperate with a device for retaining the needles so that the selection can then be preserved even by uncoupling the latter and the paper. In this way provision is made to vertically move the entire support and paper advance system so that it can advance during the movement of the train of bars. An appreciable saving of time is thus obtained and a reduction in the pressure time of the needles on the paper so that the latter being less stressed has a greater longevity.

  • Fig. 1 représente schématiquement une mécanique d'armure Verdol comportant application des perfectionnements suivant l'invention.
The appended drawing, given by way of example, will allow a better understanding of the invention, the characteristics which it presents and the advantages which it is capable of providing:
  • Fig. 1 schematically represents a Verdol armor mechanism comprising application of the improvements according to the invention.
  • Fig. 2 to 8 illustrate the operation of the reading device established in accordance with the invention.
  • Fig. 9 to 12 are views similar respectively to FIG. 2, 4, 5 and 8 but relating to an alternative embodiment of the invention.

There is shown in fig. 1 the principle of Verdol mechanics comprising in the known manner a series of needles 1 whose lower end palpates a paper 2` having perforations 2a and which is supported by a drive mechanism 3. Each needle is provided an eyelet la through which passes a horizontal stop 4 movable axially by means of one of the pushing elements 5a of a train of bars 5 so as to communicate this movement to a needle 6 against the reaction of a spring of 7. The compression knitting needles p ille 6 being associated with a hook 8, if the bar rail 5 moves to the right the hook 8 is deformed such that its upper beak 8a escapes claw 9a of a frame 9 The bottom of the hook is associated with a heddle 10 intended to lift a warp thread 11 placed on a weaving loom.

In operation, the set of needles 1 is applied against the paper 2 which moves in a jerky manner, synchronized with the movement of the needles, that is to say their vertical movement. When the bottom of a needle 1 abuts against the paper, the corresponding stopper 4 is located opposite the element 5a of the train of bars 5 so that if the latter is moved the stopper undergoes translation to the right.

For the manufacture of certain fabrics and in particular terry cloth, the paper is perforated in a strictly reverse manner at two successive positions. According to the invention there is provided a device capable of permitting the inversion of the selection without advancing the paper.

To this end, provision is made to place a plate 12 having as many perforations 12a as needles above the paper so that the latter pass through all of said perforations. Each needle is provided with two camberings in U lb, lc of depth less than the width of the perforation 12a and the height of their transverse veil oriented vertically is greater than the thickness of the plate 12.

5).When the needles 1 abut against the paper it is their lower camber lc which is at the level of the plate 12, while if the needle enters the perforation 2a of the paper it is the upper camber lb which is located in screw opposite plate 12 (fig. 5).

7).In one or the other case as soon as the selection is complete, that is to say once the needles have completed their down into the holes in the paper or come up against it, the plate 12 is moved to the left so that one or the other of the bends comes to lock relative to the edge of the corresponding perforation 12a (fig. 2 and 6). In the first figure, the needle is in the high position since its lower end abuts against the paper and consequently the stopper 4 is located opposite the element 5a of the train of bars 5, so that when the latter moves ( Fig. 3) the needle 4 undergoes translation. In fig. 5 the needle is in the low position and the stopper is not actuated by the element 5a during the movement of the train of bars (fig. 7).

3 et 7).It is easy to understand that the action of the plate 12 memorizes. in a way the position of the needles since those which abut against the paper as well as those which have penetrated into its holes 2a are locked in position by the plate 12. Under these conditions it is then possible to subject the support 3 to a releasing descent the paper needles and its holes and advance the paper to bring it to the next position (figs. 3 and 7).

8).If you wish to invert the selection, you just have to move the plate 12 upwards (fig. 4 and 8) in such a way that the buffers which were opposite the pushing elements of the train of bars 5 escape the action of these, or that on the contrary the bumpers not interested are placed opposite the pushing elements (fig. 8).

9 à 12 il n'est pas possible d'avancer le papier pendant le mouvement d'avance du train de barres 5 puisque les aiguilles restent en contact avec lui ou traversent ses trous 2a.An identical result could be obtained with regard to the inversion en.prévoyant that the support 3 has blind holes 3a on the bottom of which the needles passing through the holes 2a would abut (fig. 11). In fig. 9 there is shown a needle coming to abut on the paper 2. In the two cases illustrated in fib. 9 and 11 it suffices to move the support 3 down (fig. 10 and 12) to obtain the inversion of 1. selection without advance of the paper. Of course with the device illustrated in fig. 9 to 12 it is not possible to advance the paper during the advance movement of the train of bars 5 since the needles remain in contact with it or pass through its holes 2a.

A device for reading the perforated paper has thus been produced comprising simple means for inverting the selection and which may advantageously include a system for storing the latter so as to save time on the advance of the paper.
