Abstract

A tennis racket frame, having a heart piece bridging opposite sides of the frame, is provided at the opposite sides of the frame with members interfitting with the tubular heart piece and bolted to the frame members.

Description

The invention relates to a frame formed from a hollow profile for a tennis racket, the heart of which is also formed from a hollow profile, wherein a shaped piece is attached to each leg of the frame in the area of the central piece and one end of the central piece is connected to the shaped piece. In such frames, the hollow profile generally consists of metal or metal-reinforced plastic.

In the case of frames for tennis rackets, the centerpiece is often connected to the frame by means of rivets. A frame for tennis rackets is known, the centerpiece of which has four ore facing the frame profile, which are connected to the frame profile by means of rivets (GB-A-212 195). The ore is subjected to tension and the rivets to shear. When using this tennis racket, the rivet is so heavily stressed that the rivet heads gradually loosen. As a result, loud, unpleasant noises occur when using the tennis racket, i.e. when playing tennis, which are caused by friction between the centerpiece and the frame and between the rivets and the aforementioned parts. It also happens that the rivets break. In addition, this tennis racket has the considerable disadvantage that it twists when the ball does not hit the center of the hitting surface, with the result that the ball does not fly in the desired direction.

In another known frame of the type mentioned at the beginning for a tennis racket, the ends of the centerpiece formed from a hollow profile are inserted into shaped pieces designed as sleeve-like rings which enclose the frame profile (GB-A-246 763). Furthermore, the ends of the heart are welded to the sleeve-like rings. However, welding causes material stresses that lead to premature breakage of the frame. Because of the way in which the centerpiece is fastened to the frame, the frame cannot be made very torsionally rigid. Frameworks of this type have therefore not been able to establish themselves in practice.

The invention has for its object to form a frame of the type mentioned in such a way that a secure connection of the heart to the frame is guaranteed and that this secure connection is maintained even after prolonged use of the tennis racket.

The solution to the problem is that in a frame of the type mentioned, each fitting is attached with one of its end faces on the inside of the frame and with the other end face in the longitudinal direction of the frog and that one end of the frog approximately in the longitudinal direction the centerpiece is plugged onto one of the shaped pieces or inserted into one of the shaped pieces. As a result, the centerpiece sits immovably between the two legs of the frame.

In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the outer shape of the shaped pieces corresponds approximately to the shape of the interior of the hollow profile forming the heart piece, so that the ends of the hollow profile forming the heart piece can be plugged onto the shaped pieces. This gives the tennis racket a particularly pleasing appearance.

In other embodiments of the invention, each shaped piece either has a cavity at its end facing the frog, the shape of which approximately corresponds to the outer shape of the hollow profile forming the frog, or each shaped piece is provided at its end facing the frog with an annular groove, the cross section of which is approximately corresponds to the cross section of the hollow profile forming the core.

Each molded part is expediently connected to the frame by means of a screw. In the case of screw connections, measures which are generally known in the art can be used to secure the screw nut against unintentional loosening without any particular effort.

In a further embodiment of the invention, the attachment of the shaped pieces to the frame can be made even more durable by applying an adhesive between the contacting surfaces of each shaped piece and the frame.

In order to exclude a movement of the frog with respect to the fittings with certainty even if there should be an annular gap due to unfavorable tolerances between the fittings and the ends encompassing or engaging in the ends of the profile forming the frog, according to a further feature of the invention between an adhesive is applied to the contacting surfaces of each fitting and the heart.

A particularly favorable course of forces at the transition points between the frame and the heart piece results from the fact that the heart piece is formed from the same profile as the frame.

  • Fig. 3 einen Schnitt nach der Linie 111-111 in Fig. 2.
In the drawing, an embodiment of the invention is shown. Show it:
  • 1 shows a frame for a tennis racket in front view,
  • 2 shows the detail identified by the circle II in FIG. 1 on a larger scale,
  • 3 shows a section along the line 111-111 in FIG. 2nd

The frame 1 shown in the drawing is formed from a hollow profile. On the two inner sides of the frame 1, in the area of the frog 2, which is also formed from a hollow profile, a shaped piece 3 is fastened by means of a screw 4 (FIGS. 2 and 3). The ends of the hollow profile forming the centerpiece 2 are pushed onto the two shaped pieces 3. The ends of the core section 2 forming the hollow profile can also be inserted into the shaped pieces 3; in Fig. 2 is a corresponding fitting 3 indicated by dash-dotted lines. An adhesive is provided between the contacting surfaces of the frame 1 and the shaped pieces 3 and the heart piece 2 and the shaped pieces 3.
