Abstract

An apparatus for removing the content from envelopes having two adjacent edges opened by slitting or cutting is equipped with two facing suction devices. At least one suction device is movable perpendicular to the envelope plane for separating the envelope. During the operating phase, one suction device is movable with respect to the other in the envelope plane in order to effect a relative movement between the envelope and the contents of the envelope. This facilitates removal because the envelope held by the suction device is additionally deformed, i.e., given a corrugated configuration by the movement in the envelope plane. As a result, easy removal of the envelope content is possible.

Description

The invention relates to a device according to the preamble of claim 1.

In a known device of the type mentioned above, the envelopes opened on one longitudinal edge are separated by two suction cups located opposite one another. For this purpose, at least one of the two suction cups can be moved perpendicular to the handling plane. After separating, it is generally possible to remove the contents of the envelope. This removal can be made more difficult, for example, by the fact that the letter sheet rests on the inside of one cover page or is sucked in by a sucker. The latter is particularly the case with thin envelopes. Automatic removal by the machine is not possible with the known device (DT-OS 25 43 692).

Der entsprechende Sauger wird jeweils möglichst nahe an die geschlitzte Kante heranbewegt (DE-OS 27 32 936).A device for processing envelopes is also known, which has two suction cups located opposite one another in order to open the envelope, which is only slit on one edge. One of the suction cups is additionally adjustable in relation to the other in the envelope level. This adjustment in the envelope level does not occur when there is an envelope between the suction cups, but at a standstill to allow adaptation to the envelope format. The corresponding suction cup is moved as close as possible to the slotted edge (DE-OS 27 32 936).

This object is achieved by the characterizing part of claim 1.

According to the invention, the two suction cups are not only movable perpendicular to the envelope level in order to separate the opened envelope pages, but the one suction cup is also movable in the envelope plane during the opening phase in order to carry out the relative movement between the envelope and the letter content. This makes removal easier, since the envelope held by the suction cups is additionally distorted by the movement in the envelope plane, i. H. it is corrugated so that the non-corrugated letterhead can be easily removed. If the envelope has advantageously been opened on two adjacent edges by cutting or slitting, the letterhead is pushed out by the relative movement relative to the envelope on the one slotted edge, which in turn makes removal easier. Through this preparation of the removal according to the invention, it is also possible to carry out an automatic machine removal by means of a gripper or the like, namely by carrying out a clear separation of the cover pages from the letterhead. Furthermore, the relative movement between letterhead and envelope triggers a possibly thin envelope with the letterhead sucked in from the corresponding cover page. In an advantageous manner, it is possible to arrange the suction cups offset from one another in the envelope plane. This prevents that, in the case of thin, air-permeable letters, suction occurs against one another, which could prevent separation.

Finally, it is still possible to provide a counter for the other suction device on one suction device in the case of suction devices arranged offset in the handling plane, specifically on the one that can be moved perpendicular to the handling plane. This ensures that the envelope transported into the area of the suction cups and already opened by slitting or cutting is also safely sucked in, since the counter-holder presses the envelope onto the other suction cups.

Advantageously, the device can also be provided with a light source which illuminates the opened envelope with preferably focused light. In this way, targeted access is made possible on the one hand, and on the other hand a visual inspection is made possible, which also ensures that the complete content is removed.

The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the drawing using an exemplary embodiment.

Es zeigt :

  • Figur 1 eine perspektivische Ansicht einer Ausführungsform mit zwei Schneidwerken der gesamten Vorrichtung nach der Erfindung ;
  • Figur 2 eine schematische Seitenansicht eines zu entleerenden Umschlages vor der Relativbewegung der Sauger senkrecht zur Umschlagebene ;
It shows :
  • Figure 1 is a perspective view of an embodiment with two cutting units of the entire device according to the invention;
  • FIG. 2 shows a schematic side view of an envelope to be emptied before the suction cups move relative to the envelope plane;
  • Figure 3 is a view corresponding to Figure 2, but after performing the movement of a suction device perpendicular to the envelope plane. and
  • 4 shows a view corresponding to FIGS. 2 and 3, however, after carrying out the additional movement of a suction device in the envelope plane in the direction of an open edge.

The device shown in FIG. 1, which can also be referred to as a post office / place or letter removal station, is accommodated in a frame 1. The envelopes are individually fed from a magazine 2 through a swiveling suction device 3 onto a conveyor 4 and slit at 5 on one edge thereof. They are then transported by the device 6 to a second conveyor 8. Here the adjacent edge is slit at 7. The conveyor 8 conveys the envelope 11 slit in this way on two edges into the area of the suction devices 9 and 10 which, as can be seen in FIGS. 2 to 4, are arranged offset with respect to one another in the envelope plane. Furthermore, a stop 13 is provided in the area of the conveyor 8 for the cover page located below.

On the suction cup 9, which is perpendicular to the order plane is pivotable, a counter-holder 14 is provided for the other suction device 10.

When an envelope to be emptied has reached the area of the suction cups 9 and 10 and assumes the position shown in FIG. 2, which is defined by the stop 13, the suction cup 9 is pivoted onto the envelope. As a result, the suction device 9 comes to rest with the cover side facing it. The other cover side is pressed against the other sucker 10 by the counter-holder 14. Now the suction takes place through the suction cups 9 and 10. The suction cup 9 is swung back so that the envelope 11 with the letter 12 takes the form shown in FIG. 3. Now the other sucker 10 is in the envelope level by the stroke a in the direction of the open edge, d. H. in the direction of the stop 13. The parts assume the position illustrated in FIG. 4.

It can be seen that the cover pages show an enlarged distortion or waveform. In this way, the letterhead 12 can easily be removed. Furthermore, it is clear that the left closed edge is moved upwards and to the right, to the right approximately in the order of magnitude of the stroke a of the sucker 10. The letterhead 12 is moved out of the other opened edge by the corresponding piece. This also simplifies and simplifies removal. Automatic removal by a gripper, not shown, is readily possible.

If the letterhead assumes the position shown in FIG. 3, this position is released again when the position according to FIG. 4 is assumed, since there is a relative movement in the envelope level between the envelope and the letterhead.

The fact that the two suction cups 9 and 10 are offset from one another in the envelope plane means that they cannot suck each other in thin letters and thus prevent them from opening at all. The counter-holder 14 ensures that as little secondary air as possible is sucked in when the suction device 10 is actuated.

The removed letterheads can expediently be sorted into the various storage compartments shown in FIG. 1.

Auch bei der Öffnung an drei Kanten entsteht die erwünschte « Wellenform •.In the drawing, in particular Fig. 1, two cutting units 5 and 7 were shown. In the context of the invention, however, it is also possible to provide a third cutter on the side opposite the cutter 7 in order to also slit the third edge of the envelope. In this embodiment with three cutting units, the edge is first opened with the cutting unit not shown in FIG. 1. Following this, the functional sequence is as described in connection with FIG. 1. The desired “wave shape” is also created when opening on three edges.

A light source 15 that shines in the opened envelope is also provided, as shown in FIGS. 1 and 4.
