Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a method of manufacturing a mesh elastic band on Rachel or warp looms, and the bands manufactured according to this method.
Stretch bands are known, manufactured on Rachel or warp looms, which consist of a chain of extensible or inextensible yarns alternated in various combinations. In the transverse direction, weft threads connect the chains. In chain, the different tensions of the plies of the extensible or inextensible son, produce, after manufacture, the withdrawal of the elastic son and a recall of the inextensible son which undulate.
When it is desired that the strips have particular qualities of softness, of "swelling", with good absorption power, elastic wrapped threads are used in the chain. That is to say that, in a manner well known in itself, the elastic threads are surrounded, covered, with a thread called "covering thread". The latter is either helically wound in A around the elastic threads B which one wishes to cover, as illustrated in FIG. 1. Or else the covering thread C is knotted by mesh around the elastic thread which one wishes to cover, as illustrated in figure 2.
In any case, such elastic bands require, before weaving, carrying out the operations of covering the elastic threads which are relatively long and costly and require special materials.
The object of the present invention is to remedy these drawbacks by improving the qualities of extensibility of the strips produced, while very considerably simplifying the manufacturing process by eliminating the covering.
L'invention telle qu'elle est caractérisée dans les revendications résout le problème en utilisant en chaîne, des fils inextensibles qui constituent les chaînettes, tandis qu'on fait travailler conjointement par une même aiguille, au moins un fil élastique non guipé avec au moins un fil inextensible, et cela pour une partie des fils inextensibles, en alternant régulièrement ou irrégulièrement des fils inextensibles travaillant conjointement avec,un fil élastique non guipé, et des fila inextensibles travaillant seuls ; on relie de toute manière connue en soi, par des fils travaillant transversalement, les chaînettes inextensibles simples ou les chaînettes double, constituées de fils extensible et inextensible .The invention as characterized in the claims solves the problem by using a chain, inextensible yarns which constitute the chains, while at the same time working with the same needle, at least one elastic yarn not wrapped with at least an inextensible yarn, and that for a part of the inextensible yarns, by alternating regularly or irregularly inextensible yarns working in conjunction with, an uncoated elastic yarn, and inextensible fila working alone; in any manner known per se, by wires working transversely, the single inextensible chains or the double chains, consisting of extensible and inextensible son.
According to another characteristic, the mesh elastic band comprises longitudinally in a chain, inextensible yarns constituting all the chains, a part of the chains, alternating regular or irregular, being constituted by at least one aforementioned inextensible yarn meshed, together with at least one yarn bare elastic, not gimped.
These characteristics and others will emerge from the description which follows.
- Figures 1 and 2 show on a large scale, modes of covering elastic son, requiring previously known operations and which we wanted to eliminate according to the invention.
- Figure 3 illustrates three of the chains of a band executed
- FIG. 4 illustrates several chains of a strip according to the invention, in which the frames are threaded full on two adjacent chains, and interpenetration of the frames.
- FIG. 5 illustrates several chains of a strip according to the invention, in which the frames are threaded full on three neighboring chains, and interpenetration of the frames, each of which is offset by a chain relative to the neighboring frame.
- FIG. 6 illustrates several chains of a strip according to the invention, in which the frames are threaded on three neighboring chains and interpenetration of the frames each of which is offset by two chains relative to the neighboring frame. The single inextensible chains and the double extensible and inextensible chains, are in regular alternation (alternation 1/1).
- FIG. 7 illustrates several chains adjacent to a strip executed according to a variant of the invention, according to which the transverse links of the chains are not provided by weft threads, but by transverse jetties of warp threads.
According to the present invention and in the nonlimiting example illustrated in the figures of the drawings, this method of manufacturing a knitted elastic band, is established from chains which all consist of at least one inextensible warp thread 1, as illustrated in Figure 3, with only three chains to simplify the drawing, but it is good that the bands are formed by a very significantly higher number of chains, varying according to their width. Some of these chains, individually or in groups, alternating regularly or irregularly, consist of at least one inextensible warp thread 1a associated together with an
For this, we work the non-wrapped
The inextensible yarns 1 and 1a are made of cotton, viscose, or other yarns or fibers that are natural, artificial, or synthetic. All these inextensible threads can be of the same nature or of various natures. For example, the inextensible yarns 1 and 1a can be of different natures.
The non-gimped
The chains can be in regular alternation 1/1, that is to say a chain 1 and a chain 1a - 2, alternatively, which is a commonly adopted execution. However, there can be several groups of neighboring chains 1, separated by one or more chains la - 2. Multiple combinations are possible.
The chains 1 and 1a - 2 are linked transversely by inextensible wires 4 forming wefts. Figures 4, 5 and 6 clearly illustrate, by way of example, several possibilities for threading the wefts. In FIG. 4, the frames 4 are threaded full by interpenetrating on two neighboring chains 1 and 1a - 2. In FIG. 5, the frames 4 are threaded full on three neighboring chains, with an interpenetration of each frame 4 which is offset by a chain relative to the neighboring frame. A_la Figure 6, the frames are strung on three neighboring chains, with an interpenetration of each frame 4 which is offset by two chains relative to the neighboring frame. In the three examples of FIGS. 4, 5, 6, the single inextensible chains 1 and the double chains (extensible and inextensible), are in regular alternation (1/1). The embodiments according to Figures 4,5,6 result in strips according to the invention, which have aspects more or less dense, different points and different absorption capacities.
The inextensible weft yarns 4 are made of cotton, viscose or other natural, artificial or synthetic yarns or fibers. The wires 4 are generally of the same nature, but it is not excluded that they can be of various natures.
In the alternative embodiment which is illustrated in FIG. 7, the weft threads 4 are removed, and the transverse connections of the chains 1 and 1a - 2 are provided by the transverse jetties of the warp threads, that is to say - say either wires 1, or wires 1a, or
The strips according to the invention with screening according to Figure 7, are denser and heavier, and this execution can be recommended to execute compression bands. However, the manufacturing process is simplified and the tapes are more economical to manufacture.
The strips then undergo, after their manufacture, appropriation (for example, retraction) and conditioning operations, known in themselves, and which do not come within the scope of the invention.
