Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a miniature pusher for an electronic timepiece comprising a sleeve terminated at its end internal to the part by a bottom provided with an opening and a cylindrical rod comprising a first part with constant diameter and passing through said opening and a second part adapted to slide freely in the sleeve, said second part comprising a flange limiting against the bottom the stroke of the pusher and a control head operable manually and confined in the internal diameter of the sleeve, said flange and said head being separated by a groove serving as a housing for a seal arranged to slide with greasy friction on the interior wall of the sleeve, said rod being able to assume a depressed working position and a rested rest position, the rod being returned by means entirely external to said pusher.
  • the brief CH-A4-5 582/74 shows an arrangement similar to that described above.
  • a head and a flange between which is housed an O-ring form the second part of the rod which cooperates with a bushing driven or glued in the middle.
  • the first part of the rod passes through an opening made at the bottom of the socket.
  • This first part has a second flange, obtained by crimping, intended to retain the rod in the socket against the action of a spring.
  • This construction has at least two drawbacks.
  • the return spring forming an integral part of the pusher takes a significant place in diameter and in length and is therefore unsuitable for producing a miniature pusher.
  • the crimping performed on the stem makes it impossible to dismantle, which can hinder the assembly and disassembly operations of the watch.
  • timepieces of very small dimensions especially with regard to their thickness.
  • the pusher-corrector must be in the image of the timepiece in which it is mounted, that is to say also be very small dimensions. From a certain miniaturization, it is no longer possible to provide a return spring forming an integral part of the pusher because its force would be unable to bring its head back to the place where it was before its actuation.
  • the aims which the present invention proposes to achieve are at the same time as the miniaturization of the pusher, the ease of mounting said pusher. These goals are achieved by the means claimed.
  • Figure 1 shows the miniature pusher according to the invention. It comprises a rod 1 cooperating with a socket 2.
  • the internal diameter D1 of the socket is constant over the entire length of the socket with the exception of the place where there is a groove 8, the function of which will be explained below.
  • the socket is terminated by a bottom 5 in which an opening 6 is made.
  • the outside diameter D2 of the socket is of very small diameter, for example 1.5 mm, its internal diameter D1 of the order of 1 mm and its overall length of the order of 1.8 mm.
  • a bore in the inner surface of the socket allows the desired degree of finish to be obtained.
  • FIG. 2 shows a preferred alternative embodiment of the groove 8.
  • the wall of the sleeve is weakened beforehand by increasing its internal diameter to a dimension D3 and then, using a tool, the end 7 of the sleeve is throttled to form a diameter D4 substantially equal to the internal diameter D1 of the sleeve.
  • the rod 1 of the miniature pusher has two separate parts formed in one piece.
  • the first part 9 of the rod originates inside the sleeve 2, crosses the opening 6 and extends outside the sleeve towards the inside of the timepiece. Note that the diameter of this first part is constant over its entire length and that it is not provided with crimping or bead which would be intended to limit the stroke of the rod to the left.
  • the second part 10 of the rod 1, of larger diameter than the first part 9, is adapted to slide freely inside the sleeve 2.
  • This second part comprises a groove 11 which serves as a housing for a seal 12, which cooperates with the inner wall of the sleeve 2.
  • the groove 11 defines a flange 13 intended to limit the stroke of the rod at the bottom of the sleeve and a head 14 intended to be actuated for example with the tip of a pen ball.
  • this pusher constitutes a dormant corrector since it does not have a return spring. From the position where it is drawn, the rod can be pushed to the right until the flange 13 comes up against the bottom 5. It will be understood that this construction allows a significant reduction in the length of the socket since no space is lost is occupied by a return spring which normally is disposed between the flange 13 and the bottom 5, as is the case in the prior art. Thus, the distance which separates the flange from the bottom is conditioned only by that necessary to close an electrical contact. Likewise, the absence of the return spring makes it possible to substantially reduce the diameter D2 of the sleeve. It is in fact understood that in the reduced dimensions proposed a spring should also be reduced as regards the diameter of its wire, which would result in an insufficient return force to overcome the friction exerted by the seal 12 against the wall of diameter D1.
  • FIG. 3 shows how the miniature pusher is mounted in the timepiece.
  • the middle 15, the crystal 16, the seals 17, the dial 18, the movement 19 and the bottom 20 of the timepiece have been shown.
  • a contact 25 which forms the input terminal of the electrical circuit by which the time or time zone of the watch is operated, for example, when this terminal is grounded.
  • a leaf spring 21 performs this grounding when it comes into contact with the terminal 25.
  • the movement 19 with its dial 18 is introduced into the middle part 15, then the base 20 is adjusted to close the timepiece.
  • the rod 1 of the pusher is introduced into the socket 2 until the end 23 of the rod touches the blade 21.
  • the time setting or time zone operations are do this by pushing the rod 1 into the socket 2 by means of a ballpoint pen for example and according to a program specific to the module mounted in the box. This depression causes the spring leaf 21 to bend until it comes into contact with the terminal 25. If the pressure on the rod is released, the latter will return to its rest position as shown. in FIG. 3. It should be noted here that the return force of the blade 21 must be greater than the friction force exerted by the seal 12 on the wall D1 of the sleeve 2.
  • this restoring force is chosen at around 6 N if the friction force is 3 N.
  • the distance separating the flange 13 from the bottom 5 is chosen at around 0.5 mm, which corresponds to a distance very slightly greater than that required by the stroke of the blade 21 to touch the contact 25.
  • the rod 1 Since the rod 1 must be able to be introduced from the outside of the watch, its first part 9 is devoid of a bead which could limit its stroke to the left (see FIG. 1) as has been explained. It follows that the rod could escape by itself from the bushing following impacts for example.
  • the invention provides a security system presented by the groove 8 already described. In the rest position, the rod 1 is positioned relative to the bushing as shown in FIG. 1 or 2. It will be understood that if the rod should accidentally move to the left, the seal 12, due to the pressure that 'it exerts by elasticity against the wall of the sleeve 2, would be housed in the groove 8 by swelling, which would have the immediate effect of stopping the progression of the rod 1.
