A portable belt sander having a guide frame (4) supported, for parallel displacement relative to the effective sanding surface (3) of the sanding belt (2), on the housing (1) of the portable belt sander via a pivotal lever of adjusting means (33) arranged between the housing (1) and the guide frame (4), characterized in that the free end of an adjusting link (23) carries a pivotal excentric lever (35) having at least two abutment faces (42, 43) extending at different radial spacings form its axis to enable the guide frame (4) to be displaced into, and held in, at least two positions relative to the housing (1
2. A portable belt sander in accordance with claim 1, characterized in that a setscrew (24) operably connected with the adjusting link (23) serves as coupling element between the adjusting link (23) and the housing (1).
3. A portable belt sander in accordance with claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the housing (1) carries, in adjustable relationship, brackets (6, 7) to which the guide frame (4) is connected for displacement relative thereto.
4. A portable belt sander in accordance with claim 3, characterized in that the brackets (6, 7) are provided with bearing pockets (17) extending at an angle relative to the sanding surface (3), which bearing pockets are engaged by guide pins (22) connected with the guide frame (4).
