Definitions

  • the invention relates to a warning signal generator for feeding a pressure chamber loudspeaker, the transmission range of which lies above a predetermined fundamental wave of a warning signal to be emitted by the pressure chamber loudspeaker, which contains a large proportion of harmonics which fall within the transmission range of the pressure chamber loudspeaker.
  • pressure chamber loudspeakers are often used, which due to their design have certain radiation characteristics.
  • the horn size of a pressure chamber loudspeaker can be built into or attached to vehicles or the like. be limited.
  • Such pressure chamber speakers are used for example for ambulances and police cars.
  • the basic frequencies of warning signals are standardized and lie in the frequency range from 360 Hz - 630 Hz. Since these basic frequencies lie outside the transmission range of the pressure chamber loudspeakers used, they can only be emitted with significantly reduced efficiency. A high volume can only be achieved when these fundamental frequencies are emitted by a high amplifier output.
  • DE-B 2104954 discloses an acoustic signal generator for motor vehicles, in which a modulation sound signal lying in the optimum transmission range of an electromechanical sound radiation means is generated in that a fundamental oscillation of, for example, 400 Hz, which has the frequency of a desired signal, is generated by a second generator A first generator generates an overtone oscillation of, for example, 2 kHz, so that 1.6 kHz, 2 kHz and 2.4 kHz are produced and the ear perceives the difference tone signal of, for example, 400 Hz.
  • the invention has for its object to provide a warning signal generator which requires as little effort as possible and in particular does not require a modulator and which provides an output signal with the crest factor 1.
  • the warning signal is a composite square wave signal with constant amplitude, which consists of a first square wave signal with the frequency of the fourth harmonic and a second square wave signal with the frequency of the second harmonic, with between the first and the second square wave signal the frequency of the fundamental wave is switched so that at the output of the warning signal generator, the first rectangular signal and the second rectangular signal appear as a warning signal (FIG. 2d) during every first half period of the fundamental wave and alternately in time with the fundamental wave.
  • the rectangular output signal of which has the crest factor 1 essentially contains the 2nd, 3rd and 4th harmonic of a warning signal and yet subjectively gives the impression that the human ear is receiving a warning signal with the frequency the fundamental wave is fed. So the basic frequency is still heard by human hearing.
  • the amplifier power can in particular be kept low if, on the one hand, the harmonics to be transmitted by the pressure chamber loudspeaker are in its transmission range, and on the other hand, if these harmonics are at the same time in the range of the maximum sensitivity of the human ear.
  • the warning signal generator shown in FIG. 1 consists of a square wave generator 1, a first divider 2 connected downstream of it, a second divider 3 connected downstream of the first divider 2, a changeover switch 4 and a signal amplifier 5.
  • the signal amplifier 5 feeds a pressure chamber loudspeaker 6 which is connected to the output A of the warning signal generator is connected.
  • the square wave generator 1 generates a first square wave signal 4f with four times the frequency of the fundamental wave of the warning signal to be emitted.
  • the rectangular generator 1 is connected to the input of the divider 2 and to a first changeover contact u of the changeover switch 4.
  • the divider 2 divides the square-wave signal 4f supplied by the square-wave generator 1 in a ratio of 2: 1, so that a second square-wave signal 2f occurs at its output with twice the frequency of the fundamental wave.
  • the divider 2 is in turn ver on the output side with a second divider 3 and a second changeover contact v of the changeover switch 4 bound.
  • a control signal f now occurs which has the frequency of the fundamental wave.
  • the control signal f is fed to the control input s of the changeover switch 4, so that the changeover switch 4 switches over with the frequency of the fundamental wave between its first changeover contact u and its second changeover contact v.
  • the first square-wave signal 4f and the second square-wave signal 2f pass alternately to the input of the signal amplifier 5 via the changeover switch 4 in time with the fundamental frequency.
  • Fig. 2a shows the first square wave signal 4f, which occurs at the output of the square wave generator 1;
  • Fig. 2b shows the second square wave signal 2f, which occurs at the output of the plate 2;
  • Fig. 2c shows the control signal f that occurs at the output of the plate 3;
  • 2d shows the signal fed to the input of the signal amplifier 5, which occurs at the output A as a warning signal.
  • the rectangular shape of the warning signal results in harmonics that lie in the transmission range of the pressure chamber loudspeaker.
  • the warning signal is fed to the signal amplifier 5 as an alternating signal, i.e. as a signal which alternately has a positive and a negative voltage. Energy can thus be delivered to the signal amplifier 5 during the entire period, whereby DC magnetization in the output transformer 7 is avoided.
  • Switching between the first square wave signal 4f and the second square wave signal 2f with the frequency of the fundamental wave results in a signal which, broken down into its spectral components, contains a large proportion of 2nd, 3rd and 4th harmonic waves and a low fundamental wave component.
  • the 2nd, 3rd and 4th harmonic are in the transmission range of the loudspeaker when the fundamental frequency is in the range of 300 Hz to 800 Hz.
  • the current to be switched in the output stage transistors and and the output transformer can be kept small.
  • the output stage transistors are not shown in detail, but two amplifiers 8 and 9 are shown, which form a push-pull output stage in connection with the output transformer 7.
  • the square-wave generator is designed such that the frequency it generates can be switched between two values 4f and 4f 2 , for which purpose a periodic control device 10 is used.
