Description

The invention relates to a defenseless weaving machine with a drawer, with a nozzle arranged on the drawer for inserting a weft thread drawn from a stationary yarn supply, with a weaving reed carried by the drawer for striking and with a cutting device for cutting off the inserted weft threads and with one between the Nozzle and the reed arranged thread clamp.

For a long time it was common for jet weaving machines of this type to mount the thread clamp on the machine frame. However, since after the weft insertion has ended and the thread clamp has closed, the reed with the inserted weft thread moves to the fabric stop edge and the distance between the stationary thread clamp and the point of intersection between the weft thread and the edge of the warp thread cluster adjacent to the thread clamp increases, with this arrangement the Thread clamp of the weft thread is pulled out of the shed over a certain length and subjected to increased tension. This tension has led to an excessive stretching of the weft thread, particularly in the area between the thread clamp and the adjacent shed end, and the weft thread stretched in this way has a tendency to spring back when cut, which often leads to weaving errors.

Attempts have been made to prevent the weft thread from stretching and springing back by placing the thread clamp on the drawer in front of the thread inlet opening. Although very good results have been achieved with this arrangement of the nozzle, certain yarns, in particular those with little twist and a smooth surface, are still damaged in the region of the front weft end and thus weaving errors. It has been assumed that these weaving errors are caused by the effect between the fluid ejected by the nozzle and the weft thread in the acceleration phase at the beginning of the weft insertion, and attempts have been made to improve it by modifying the nozzle, but without achieving the desired success entirely achieve.

It is also known, for example from NL-A-7 704 471, to arrange on the frame of the weaving machine a clamping device which projects against the space between the cutting device and the reed and into which the weft thread is inserted after the entry by the stop movement of the reed . However, this clamping device is used exclusively to hold the so-called auxiliary bar on the respective fabric side edge and thus to stabilize the fabric bar and thus cannot prevent the weft thread from being stretched and jumping back.

The invention is intended to eliminate the damage to the weft thread mentioned. The invention is based on the new finding that even when the thread clamp is arranged on the drawer in front of the nozzle, the weft thread is still so tight that it springs back into the nozzle after being cut off and can be damaged in the process, whereby this damage can go so far that knots appear in the weft.

The object is achieved according to the invention in that the thread clamp is arranged between the nozzle and the cutting device and is mounted on the drawer.

The arrangement of the thread clamp according to the invention prevents the weft thread from jumping back into the nozzle, so that all disturbing factors caused by the springing back are eliminated. This not only leads to greater protection of the weft threads and to an improvement in the fabric quality, but also to an expansion of the field of application of jet weaving machines that was previously not considered possible, since less twisted and smooth yarn can now be used as weft thread.

  • Fig. 2 ein Detail von Fig. 1.
The invention is explained in more detail below using an exemplary embodiment and the figures of the drawing; in the latter show:
  • 1 is a schematic view of the parts of an air jet loom necessary for understanding the invention in perspective, and
  • FIG. 2 shows a detail from FIG. 1.

In Fig. 1, the reference numeral 1 shows part of the drawer which can be moved in the direction of the double arrow A. This drawer carries a bar 1a, on which the leaf teeth forming the reed 2 are mounted, which delimit a conveying tunnel in a known manner, through which the weft thread 4 is inserted into the shed. A nozzle 3 with a mixing tube 3a is also mounted on the bar 1a, which is fed with blown air in the direction of the arrow X and is arranged in alignment with the said conveying tunnel.

The weft thread 4 is drawn off from a stationary yarn package 6 in a known manner by continuously rotating rollers 5.

The weft thread supplied by the rollers 5 is fed to a blowing nozzle, designated 7, whose outlet end 7a is directed against the opening 8 of a flattened storage device 10 fastened to the weaving machine frame 9. The storage device 10, the end of which (not shown in the drawing) can be connected to a vacuum source, is of a type known per se. The thread forms a loop in the storage device 10 with an entry leg and an exit leg 4a or 4b. The storage device 10 is continuously supplied with weft thread from the blowing nozzle 7 in the direction of the entry leg 4a and intermittently from the nozzle 3 in the direction of the exit leg 4b, namely with each weft insertion, according to the stored thread length, a certain thread length is removed and entered into the shed. The removed shot which is fed to the nozzle 3 via a stationary guide eyelet 11.

A schematically illustrated cutting device 12 is provided between the thread outlet end of the mixing tube 3a of the nozzle 3 and the thread inlet end of the conveyor tunnel formed by the blade teeth. In addition, a thread clamp 13, also shown schematically, is mounted between the thread outlet end of the mixing tube 3a and the adjacent end of the reed 2. The thread clamp 13 has the function of holding the weft thread 4 after completion of the weft insertion and before cutting off the inserted weft thread and releasing it again at the beginning of the next weft insertion.

The invention is not restricted to the embodiment described. For example, the arrangement of the thread clamp 13 shown could also be advantageous in a weaving machine in which the nozzle 3 is not mounted on the drawer, but rather is fixedly mounted on the machine frame. In addition to the thread clamp 13 after the nozzle 3, a further thread clamp could also be arranged in front of the nozzle 3, either on the drawer 1 as described in GB-A-1 550 547 or on the machine frame.

As shown in the entry direction after the thread exit end of the mixing tube 3a on the bar 1 a of the drawer 1 (Fig. 1) an obliquely upward and rearward directed plate 14 is mounted, which forms the fixed part of the thread clamp 13 and as a stop for the movable part works. The movable part of the thread clamp 13 consists of a clamping arm 15 formed by a spiral spring, which is fixedly mounted on a pivot shaft 16. The pivot shaft 16 is rotatably mounted on the beam 1 a and is fixedly connected to one end of a first pivot lever 17, the other end of which is pivotally connected to one end of a second pivot lever 18. The other end of the second pivot lever 18 is pivotable about a bearing point which is fixed relative to the machine frame. This bearing point can be formed, for example, by a shaft 19 which is fixedly connected to the machine frame.

If the drawer 1 (FIG. 1) swings back and forth in the direction of arrow A, then the first pivot lever 17 swings in the direction of arrow B and the clamping arm 15 accordingly in the direction of arrow C, specifically when the drawer 1 moves forward the plate 14 and when the drawer moves backwards away from it.

The thread clamp 13 is designed such that the clamping arm 15 would swing beyond the plate 14 when the sheet stops, the resilient clamping arm 15 deforming accordingly and its contact pressure against the plate 14 and the weft thread 4 increasing steadily. The weft 4 is not clamped abruptly, but softly. Likewise, when the drawer swings back after the stop, the weft is released not suddenly, but gradually. Since the weft thread 4 is held at its tip in front of the thread outlet opening of the mixing tube 3a after cutting, it cannot spring back into it and be damaged or knotted in the process.

The thread clamp 13 shown in FIG. 2 is only one of several possible exemplary embodiments. In general, the thread clamp 13 can be designed as an active or a passive element, and in the case of an active element, as in FIG. 2, the clamping arm 15 could also be driven by a curve. As a passive element, for example, an elastic thread clamp moved with the drawer could be used, such as the clamp described in published NL patent application No. 7 704 471, which would also have to be arranged between nozzle 3 and cutting device 12, but close to the latter . As a further variant, when using a cutting device 12 mounted on the drawer and moved with it, it could be designed as a cutting clamping device which on the one hand cuts the weft thread and on the other hand clamps it behind the cutting point in the entry direction.
