- the present invention relates to an improved device for twisting a wire by double twisting, a device commonly designated by the expression "double twist spindle”, an expression which will be adopted in the description below.
- the wire of the winding taken in the parade, forms a reeling balloon and is engaged from top to bottom in the fixed hollow axis, passes through the channel of the rotating return member, then into a centering barbin- balloon stop, arranged in the extension of the axis of the spindle, the wire forming the balloon between the peripheral surface of the rotating return member and said barbin and then being returned in a conventional manner.
- Double twist pins have been known for a long time and have been the subject of numerous publications. notably in French patents 878,641, 885,434, 57,274 (second addition to French patent 955,185), in British patents 618,028 and 989,608, as well as in patents in the United States of America 2,207,574 and 3 640,060.
- Such a device has numerous advantages and in particular makes it possible to increase the speed of rotation of the spindle for an equivalent tension given to the wire or, to treat fragile wires having to be subjected to low tensions at equal speed. Furthermore, such a device makes it possible to significantly reduce the height of the balloon and consequently the size of the installation.

- the wire first takes a first twist in its path from its unwinding point to the top 15 of the hollow axis 14, then a second twist in the outer balloon B between its exit of the store reference member and the guide barbin 20.
- Curves I and II of FIG. 3 appended show that, at 6000 revolutions per minute, a spindle produced in accordance with the invention (curve I) consumes a power of around 13 watts, whereas with a shape magazine bowl tapered (curve II) the power consumption is approximately 15 watts. Furthermore, in both cases, the voltages communicated to the wires were identical.
