Definitions

  • the invention relates to a band saw that can be attached as an additional device to the frame of a basic device preferably formed by a planing machine, in particular for DIY or construction use with a C-shaped frame, on each of which an adjustable upper belt wheel and a lower belt wheel that can be driven by the motor of the basic device are accommodated , which are each rubberized and over which the saw band is guided.
  • a band saw of this type is known from US-A-1 973409 and US-A-1 834 684.
  • the lower band wheel is rotatably connected to a stub shaft, which in turn can be coupled to a driven spindle of the basic device designed here as a turning device.
  • a driven spindle of the basic device designed here as a turning device To achieve an exact synchronization between the spindle and the stub shaft, an exactly aligned arrangement of the spindle and the stub shaft is required. The accomplishment and compliance with this exact alignment requires a not inconsiderable manufacturing and construction effort. A further expense arises in the known arrangement due to the coupling required here for connecting the stub shaft of the band saw to the driven spindle of the basic device.
  • the lower band wheel of the band saw is also firmly connected to a stub shaft, which in turn can be coupled to a shaft mounted on the frame of the basic device, which alternatively or simultaneously to the tool spindle of the basic device from the motor of the basic device is drivable.
  • a stub shaft which in turn can be coupled to a shaft mounted on the frame of the basic device, which alternatively or simultaneously to the tool spindle of the basic device from the motor of the basic device is drivable.
  • the band saw attachment consists of a separate lower band wheel, which is clamped on the working shaft of the basic saw unit instead of the circular saw blade, and a housing attachment that only accommodates the upper band wheel and can be screwed onto the table top of the basic circular saw unit Table top of the basic circular saw unit is provided with a removable foot.
  • arrangements of this type are extremely difficult and cumbersome to achieve the required alignment of the upper and lower band wheel.
  • the combination process which is to be accomplished by the operator of such an arrangement, therefore requires relatively long set-up times.
  • Another disadvantage of the known arrangement which also uses the circular saw table as a band saw table, is the fact that practically no pivoting position of the band saw table is possible.
  • the known arrangement has only one band guide attached to the frame attachment and effective above the band saw table. Below the circular saw table used here as a band saw table, no band guide can be attached with reasonable effort. This also has a negative impact not only on work accuracy, but also on accident safety.
  • Another very particular disadvantage of the known arrangement is, however, that the diameter of the lower band wheel and thus the working width of the entire band saw additive is limited to the diameter of a circular saw blade. The disadvantages associated with the known arrangement are therefore to be seen in particular in the long set-up times required, the high risk of accidents and the relatively limited possible uses.
  • a friction wheel connected to a shaft is provided for driving the lower band wheel of the band saw, that the shaft with its end facing away from the friction wheel and projecting beyond the frame of the band saw into an additional tool carrier with an attachment device for alternate attachment basic device provided with additional devices can be firmly clamped, and that the attachment device receiving the band saw and the additional tool holder of the basic device assigned to it can be moved relative to one another in terms of height.
  • the friction wheel assigned to the lower belt wheel can advantageously be brought into and out of engagement simply by actuating the height adjustment, which is already present in the basic device, between the attachment device and the additional tool holder, which results in a simple but reliable drive and makes the attachment and detachment process simple and safe.
  • the band saw remains in an advantageous manner as a complete unit and therefore does not have to be rebuilt every time it is attached, which has proven to be extremely user-friendly and safe. Since the band saw has a complete machine frame, it is also easily possible to design the band saw table as a swiveling table, which often proves to be very desirable. The same applies to the belt guides normally provided above and below the table.
  • 1 and 2 an embodiment with a band saw attachment and shown in a view and top view, attached to a basic device
  • FIG. 2 shows an enlarged illustration of the drive unit based on a section along the line 11-11 in FIG. 2.
  • the band saw shown in FIG. 1 and denoted as a whole by 1 is combined with an assigned do-it-yourself basic device, here a denoted as a whole by 2, a planing machine set up on a table 3, which is provided with an attachment device to be described in more detail below .
  • the basic structure and mode of operation of a band saw of the type in question here is known per se and is therefore only briefly outlined below.
  • the band saw 1 has an approximately C-shaped frame 4, which is to be designed here simply as a greeting blank, for example an aluminum die-casting blank.
  • the frame 4 could also be designed as a welded structure.
  • the frame 4 consists of a solid rear wall, which can be stiffened by side flanges and ribs, not shown here.
  • a plastic cover also not shown here, can be provided.
  • the frame 4 of the band saw 1 does not need its own foot, since the band saw 1 is fixed in the working position shown on the planing machine 2 forming the basic device.
  • An upper band wheel 5 and a lower band wheel 6 are mounted in the frame 4, around which the saw band 7 runs.
  • the upper band wheel 5 can be adjusted in height for setting the desired band tension by means of an adjusting device indicated at 8.
  • the lower belt wheel 6 is driven in a manner to be described in more detail below.
  • the band wheels 5 and 6 are provided in the area of their circumference with a rubber pad 9, as can best be seen from FIG. 2.
  • the saw band 7 is guided above and below the table 10.
  • the upper band guide 11 is adjustable in height, the lower band guide 12 is arranged stationary.
  • the table 10 can expediently be designed as a swivel table.
  • the planing machine 2 provided here as the basic device has a dressing table 13 and a thickness table, not shown here, which can be adjusted in height in a manner known per se in relation to the stationary planing shaft 14.
  • a thickness table not shown here
  • On this height-adjustable thickness table there are two vertical supports at 15 to form the attachment indicated type and two horizontal supports of the type indicated at 16 attached.
  • the supports 15 can expediently run in suitable longitudinal guides, as indicated in the region of the table 3 at 17.
  • the supports 15 and 16 are provided in the region of their upper and front ends with plug pins 18 which can be inserted into corresponding bores in a mounting bracket of the additional devices to be combined with the planing machine 2.
  • the band saw 1 is provided with a box bracket 19 fastened to the rear of the frame 4, which is open at the rear and whose cover plate or front plate is provided with the pins 18 of the supports 15 and 16 associated holes.
  • a lock indicated at 20 is provided, which is actuated after the box bracket 19 has been hooked into the pin 18.
  • the planing machine 2 is provided on the installation side with an additional tool carrier 21 which is assigned to the additional devices to be fitted and which here is simply placed on a projection of the planing shaft 14 and can be driven thereby.
  • an additional tool carrier 21 which is assigned to the additional devices to be fitted and which here is simply placed on a projection of the planing shaft 14 and can be driven thereby.
  • a V-belt groove 220 cut into the additional tool carrier is simply provided, as can best be seen from FIG. 2.
  • the additional tool carrier 21 is used here to drive the band saw 1 combined with the planing machine 2.
  • a friction wheel 23 is provided which is fastened to a shaft 22 which can be clamped in the additional tool carrier and which is set against the lower band wheel 6 and forms a friction pairing therewith.
  • the adjustment of the friction wheel 23 to the band wheel 6 interacting therewith and thus the setting of the desired contact pressure is expediently accomplished simply by correspondingly adjusting the height of the attachment device and thus the band saw 1 suspended thereon.
  • the frame 4 is provided with a corresponding approximately slot-shaped recess 24, as can best be seen from FIG. 2.
  • the recess 24 is expediently placed in such a way that the friction wheel 23 comes to rest on the associated belt wheel 6 in the area adjacent to the belt outlet, ie. H.
  • the friction wheel 23 is expediently preceded by a scraper 25 formed, for example, by a brush or the like, which removes sawdust or the like adhering to the rubberized running surface of the band wheel 6.
  • the friction wheel 23, as can be clearly seen in FIG. 2, should be molded onto the shaft 22.
  • the rubber coating of the tread provided in the band wheels of a band saw in a manner known per se therefore advantageously fulfills a double function here. On the one hand, this ensures a gentle belt run and, on the other hand, this results in an exact friction pairing.
  • the shaft 22 is on-site, i. H.
  • the shaft 22 is provided in the region of its end opposite the friction wheel 23 with a mounting flange 26 and a centering pin 27 which engages in a corresponding centering hole in the additional tool carrier 21.
  • a clamping screw 28 which engages in a corresponding thread of the additional tool carrier 21
  • the shaft 22 is provided with a central bore 29 which is widened in the region of the friction wheel 23. This ensures that the shaft 22 having the friction wheel 23 can be assembled and disassembled quickly and easily.
  • the running speed of the saw band 7 is dependent on the diameter of the friction wheel 23.
  • the height adjustment of the band saw 1 guaranteed here enables the use of practically any desired friction wheel diameter. Since the basic device of a do-it-yourself equipment, such as the planing machine 2, has two running speeds anyway, the speed field is further enlarged. As a result of the free choice of the friction wheel diameter which is possible here, a relatively large speed field is evident here even with basic devices with only one running speed.
  • the measures according to the invention are not intended to be limited to this.
  • a combination of the attachment band saw according to the invention with a circular saw designed as a basic device would also be conceivable. Since, in the case of circular saws, the working shaft assigned to the circular saw blade can generally be adjusted in height, the friction wheel could be adjusted to the associated band wheel with the height adjustment of the working shaft in such an embodiment, provided that the additional tool carrier is attached directly to the working shaft.
  • the attachment device could be arranged stationary.
