Description

The invention relates to the use of an expansion compensator consisting of two sheet metal strips connected by a vulcanized intermediate strip made of a rubber-elastic material.

Gutter or similar construction elements made from sheet metal are subject to a change in length under the influence of temperature; According to VOB, a temperature difference of 100 K must be expected. The change in length of the individual gutters due to the effects of heat must not be impeded and must be compensated for by larger expansion lengths by means of expansion joints without causing leaks.

To ensure the expansion possibilities of the gutters, sliding seams are known in which the Joints of the gutters are movably pushed into each other, floors are soldered to the gutters and a sliding plate is inserted. It is also known to push the joints of the gutters provided with semicircular cutouts into one another and to flare the edges of the cutouts downwards. The gutter socket is arranged under the resulting boiler.

In CH-PS 456 106, an expansion compensator is also provided, which consists of two sheet metal strips which are connected to one another in a watertight manner by means of a strip of rubber-elastic material. The rubber-elastic material is an elastomer that is approved for a permanent weather-related temperature of -40 ° C to + 100 ° C. No embrittlement occurs in this temperature range; it is therefore resistant to all weather influences and UV radiation. Such expansion compensators are pre-profiled according to the profile of the structural members to be connected and the sheet metal strips are soldered with a slight overlap with the joints of the two gutters arranged to form a space. For aesthetic reasons, it is necessary to cover the expansion compensators with an appropriately pre-profiled cladding sheet. Since a bead is missing from the expansion compensator, a bead cap covering the expansion compensation in this area is screwed into the channel beads.

The disadvantage of such an expansion compensator is that it is covered by the cladding sheet, but on the other hand, because of its bulging longitudinal edges, the wall thickness clearly stands out from the gutters, which gives an optically unfavorable impression.

This deficiency can be remedied by the fact that, according to the invention, the gutters or similar structural elements overlap in their end regions to be connected without soldering, the expansion compensator of the above-mentioned embodiment with its intermediate strip center-the overlap being placed inside the gutters in such a way that the on-site part fits tightly under the water gutter of the gutters, the sheet metal strips are soldered to the respective gutter at their free edges and the bead cap is screwed into the gutter beads of the gutters, the free end of which extends over the edge of the expansion compensator and lies against the intermediate strip. The bead cap is soldered on one side.

Through the connection of the gutters according to the invention, the cladding sheet required for the expansion compensator in the use of the expansion compensator described in the prior art can be dispensed with in a cost-saving manner without the functional reliability being impaired in any way. In its aesthetic effect, such a connection does not differ from that of a fixed solder connection between overlapping ends of gutters. The gutter connection according to the invention practically represents a gutter sliding seam, which is however not visible from the outside.

The use of the expansion compensator according to the invention also offers the possibility of installation in standardized gutter lengths directly by the gutter manufacturer, so that the construction worker can process ready-to-install gutters with expansion compensators and thus there is no risk of the rubber-elastic material being seared during soldering work.

The invention is illustrated by way of example in the drawing and is explained in more detail below:
  • 1 shows a top view and FIG. 2 shows a section along the line I - I. The gutters 1, 2 made of a zinc material are plugged together to form an unsoldered overlap area 3. An expansion compensator is inserted into the gutters from two sheet metal strips 5, 6 which are connected to one another by a vulcanized intermediate strip 4 made of chloroprene. The on-site part of the expansion compensator lies firmly under the water fold 7 of the gutters 1, 2 and the sheet metal strips 5, 6 are connected at their free edges to the gutters via a soldered seam 8, 9. A bead cap 11 is screwed into the channel bead 10, the free end of which extends over the edge of the expansion compensator and bears against the intermediate strip. The bead cap 11 is applied on one side to prevent displacement.
