Description

There are washing machines for the floors of large buildings such as stations and other public buildings. These machines generally comprise, on a chassis on wheels, maneuverable by means of an arm, a tank of cleaning liquid, for example water containing detergent, rotating brushes with vertical axes, a channel connecting the tank cleaning liquid to a dispenser near the rotating brushes; a container of dirty liquid communicating with an air-liquid separator, an air suction turbine connected to the separator, motor members driving the brushes and the turbine and a dirty liquid suction nozzle connected by means of a pipe to the separator. Some of the known machines include several suction nozzles, for example one for suction of dirty liquid and the other for dry suction. These known machines are almost always of considerable size and do not adapt to domestic use in a single family house even a relatively large one.

The invention relates to a small machine, easily manipulated and transportable, suitable for the maintenance of residential houses. It is characterized in that a single suction nozzle is connected to a positioning mechanism and in that the positioning mechanism is sensitive to the direction of movement of the machine so as to clear a little from the ground at least one part of the nozzle when moving the machine in one direction to allow dry suction and lowering it when moving the machine in the other direction to ensure scraping of the soil and suction of the dirty liquid.

The invention also relates to a particularly advantageous nozzle positioning mechanism, characterized in that it is sensitive to the horizontal component, perpendicular to the axes of the wheels. the pulling or pushing force exerted on the machine by means of an operating arm. Other characteristics of the invention will emerge from the description of an example of an advantageous embodiment below in which reference is made to the appended drawing.

Un bras 8 est solidaire du cadre I ou d'une partie reliée à ce cadre 1.The figures in the drawing show two variants in 3 views, partially in section of a floor washing machine according to the invention. This machine includes a two-part chassis. A first part of the chassis consists of a frame 1 resting on two wheels 2 at its rear part and on a ball support 3 fixed on a middle support piece 4 at the front part. The frame 1, the middle support piece 4 and various mounting spacers such as the scaffolding frames 5 and 6 are secured with a covering cap 7. An arm 8 is secured to the frame I or to a connected part to this frame 1.

The arm 8 can support a reservoir of clean liquid, not shown in the drawing, including a line symbolized by a broken line 9 to a distributor 10 supplying clean cleaning liquid to the place of two rotating brushes.

A second part of the chassii consists of a sole 11 supporting the heavy parts of the machine, in particular a motor enclosed in a carcass 12, a reduction gear protected by a casing 13, as well as an air-liquid separator assembly 14 and container for dirty liquid 15. The dirty liquid container 15 is suspended for example by means of a spring device, not shown, from the air-liquid separator 14. Such spring fixing devices are known per se and allow release and easy attachment of the dirty liquid container 14 for emptying thereof. The sole 11 is suspended on one side from a pivot 16 by means of a lever 17 fixed to a pivot 18 on a spacer 19 welded to the carcass 12 of the engine. The pivot 16 is secured to a lever 20 with buttonhole 21 in which is engaged a spur 22 secured to the mounting frame 6. On the other hand, the soleplate It rests on the bristles of two rotating brushes 23 with vertical axes 24 fixed in two extensions on either side of a central indentation through which the ball support 3 and the central support piece 4 pass. A suction nozzle 25 is movably connected on the one hand to this sole 11 and on the other hand to frame 1.

The floor washing machine shown in Figure 1 works as follows: during the recoil movement which is that shown on the figure and indicated by an arrow 27, clean cleaning liquid is distributed by a pipe symbolized by the broken line 9 which arises in the tank of clean liquid, not shown, on the arm 8. The nozzle 25 is applied to the ground and sucks and scrapes the dirty cleaning liquid coming out from under the brushes 23. A mixture of air and liquid is transported from the nozzle 25 through a pipe symbolized by the line 26 in the separator 14. The dirty liquid falls in the container 15 while the air is sucked upwards through a filter, not shown, and via a conduit 28, and ejected by a turbine 29 fixed on the end of the motor shaft enclosed in the carcass 12. The same motor is connected on the other side to a reduction gear enclosed in the casing 13. The reduction gear ends with a drive pulley 30 which is connected by belt to pulleys 32 of the brushes 23.

When the movement is reversed, that is to say when the arm 8 is pushed, the frame 1, supported by the wheels 2 and the ball 3, immediately moves forward, while the sole 11 which supports the heavy elements of the machine and rests on the bristles of the brushes 23 does not immediately obey this reversal of movement. This soleplate It therefore moves relative to the frame 1 within the limits imposed by the length of the buttonhole 21 of the lever 20 in the direction of the arrow 27 and influences the position of two levers 33 and 34 connected to the nozzle 25. From this makes the nozzle 25 emerges from the ground and allows a suction of the ground not yet wet or already cleaned and scraped.

The frame 1 and the sole 11, by means of the buttonhole 16, 17, 18, 20, 21, 22 and by means of the levers 33 and 34 constitute a mechanism for positioning the nozzle 25, sensitive to the force of traction or thrust exerted on the operating arm of the machine.

The nozzle positioning mechanism can also be achieved by other means than the subdivision of the chassis into two parts, for example using a friction piece on the ground connected by a flexible joint or connection to the chassis and to the nozzle 25. This friction piece on the ground can fulfill the functions of the sole 11 in the example above with regard to the movement of the nozzle 25.

It is also possible not to move the nozzle 25 vertically, but only a part of it. Such a solution is shown in Figure 2 which shows an enlarged sectional view of the front part of an apparatus in which the positioning mechanism does not require the constitution of the chassis in two parts movable relative to each other .

In FIG. 2, the front part of the apparatus comprises the sole 11, the ball support 3, the brushes 23 and a suction nozzle 35 integral with the sole 11. This nozzle comprises, on the arm side 8 of the apparatus , an optional flap 36, a flow brake brush 37 and a squeegee 38, movable vertically. This squeegee 38 is connected to a linkage, not shown, which ensures its vertical displacement by means of the horizontal displacement of a bar 39 of a positioning mechanism shown in detail in FIG. 3 and mounted at the location of one of the wheels 2 ( figure 1).

In Figure 3, the bar 39 ends with a transverse lug with circular section 40 engaged in an opening 41 in a sheet integral with the sole 11 having the shape of an L. The end of the bar 39 is further connected to a lever 42 pivoting around an axis 43 and actuated by a rod 44. The rod 44 is connected to a triangular lever 45 pivoting around an axis 46 and supporting a tooth 47 by means of a joint 48. The tooth 47 is engaged on the one hand by means of a lug 49 with a lever 50 suspended by an axis 51, pressing on the end of the bar 39 with a force produced by a spring 52. The tooth 47 is engaged on the other hand with a toothing 53 located on one side of the wheel 2. On the other side of the wheel 2 is provided another toothing 54 oriented in opposite direction, engaged with a lever to a tooth 55 suspended by a axis 56. The lever 55 comprises an appendage 57 engaged with one end of an openwork lever 58 supported by the axis 51. The opening 59 du.levi er 58 has an elongated, angled shape and is also crossed by the transverse lug 40 at the same time as the opening 41.

The operation of this mechanism is as follows: when the wheel 2 rotates in the direction of the arrow 60, the toothing 54 pushes the tooth 55 to the left and the lever 58 is pushed into the position shown in FIG. 3. At the same time the tooth 47 is pushed upwards by the toothing 53 so that the lug 49 moves away from the lever 50. The tooth 47 therefore slides effortlessly on the toothing 53. In this position, the bar 39 lowers the squeegee 38 by means of a linkage not shown. This position conditions the wet suction.

When, conversely, the wheel 2 rotates in the direction of the arrow 61, the tooth 55 slides on the toothing 54 and releases the lever 58. The toothing 53 forces the tooth 47 downwards and makes the triangular lever 45 pivot which actuates via the rod 44 the lever 42 and the bar 39. Consequently, the transverse lug 49 moves under the spout of the lever 50 and is forced by the latter and the spring 52 into the hollow of the opening 41. In this position, the bar 39 lifts the squeegee 38 by means of the linkage, not shown. This position ensures dry suction.

The mechanism described above is thus sensitive to the direction of rotation of one of the wheels and has the property of causing for each direction of rotation of the wheel a stable snap-fastening of the position of the squeegee 38 which is maintained until the wheel turns in the opposite direction.

When the machine is operating with the squeegee in the low position, the dirty water passes below the flap 36 through the flow brake brush 37 and arrives in the space between this brush 37 and the squeegee 38 from where it is sucked through a narrow duct, delimited by the support of the squeegee and the fixed walls of the nozzle 35. The brush 37 has the effect of generating a braking in the flow of dirty water and limiting this flow to the quantity that the nozzle is able to aspirate. When the machine is operating, on the contrary, with the squeegee 38 in the high position, the brush 37 delimits the suction space which extends from the end of the machine to the suction duct which in this case is wider the thickness of the squeegee support when the latter is in the high position.
