Definitions
- the invention relates to a covering over expansion joints in traffic routes, in particular bridges, from a block-shaped strip made of an elastomer laid in cross-sections of the carriageway on both sides of the joint, which is used for reinforcement at least in the overlap region of the joint and for connecting parts in the region of its longitudinal edges has tensile anchoring in the roadway substructure.
- an elastomeric plate is anchored on both sides in the joint edges under tension. Due to the associated high material load, the aging of the material is accelerated; the elastomeric material creeps apart in the direction of the tensile force, so that the preload is reduced over time. The elastomeric plate is then subjected to pressure and bulges upwards.
- inserts are arranged at intervals next to each other, made of spring wire or the like hard elastic material, the longitudinal axes of which run transversely to the longitudinal direction of the joint and the ends of which are each connected to the connecting parts in a tensile manner.
- the spirals act in the sense of a stiffening insert that increases the load-bearing capacity; at the same time, the elasticity and flexibility of the elastomeric strip does not impair its elasticity, so that relatively small strip widths can be used.
- the coils cast or vulcanized into the elastomeric strips form an adhesive bond with the elastomeric material, which preferably consists of synthetic rubber and / or natural rubber.
- the spirals are made of hard elastic Material, either metal or plastic.
- the elasticity and load-bearing capacity of the helixes can be adapted to the respective conditions by a suitable choice of the turns.
- the tensile anchoring of the ends of the coils on the adjacent connecting parts of the strip which serve for anchoring in the concrete substructure.
- the coils are arranged eccentrically closer to the bearing surface of the elastomeric strip opposite the traversed surface, results in a low center of gravity; this causes the elastomeric plate to be pressed down under pressure.
- Embodiment achieve if the coils are arranged in several layers one above the other with sufficient thickness of the elastomeric strip.
- the cross-sectional shape can deviate from the circular shape, for example elliptical.
- the longitudinal axes of the coils can be curved in the vertical plane.
- a particularly interesting expedient embodiment of the invention is that the volume enclosed by a helix is designed as a cavity.
- the particular advantage of this embodiment is that that the elastomeric material can be displaced into the cavity when the strip is deformed without the outer contour of the strip being deformed.
- This embodiment can also be produced particularly simply in that the coils each sit on a core corresponding to their interior during vulcanization.
- the cavity has the shape of an internal thread and limit the turns of the coil in the area of the thread webs to the cavity.
- the core used for vulcanization, on which the coil is seated has the shape of a correspondingly dimensioned screw, so that it can be unscrewed after hardening.
- the material is displaced in the area of the thread grooves of the hollow mold. Accordingly, in this embodiment there is no narrowing of the cavity within the helix.
- this shape of the cavity is advantageously used in that a slide rod, which is displaceably encompassed by the turns of the helix, is arranged at least in the overlap area of the joint.
- Such a slide bar can be held in the middle above the joint gap by means of any control parts; but it can also be anchored at one end in the edge region of the strip, so that its free end is in the narrowest joint position near the opposite edge of the strip and in the widest joint position above the opposite joint edge. Since in this embodiment the Sliding rod does not slide on rubber but on the inner surface of the associated helix, wear and tear can be reduced to a minimum; in addition, this embodiment offers the possibility of accommodating a lubricating grease supply in the thread grooves of the cavity. This results in a significant reduction in wear and the coefficient of friction of the sliding movement compared to a known embodiment in which steel rods engage directly in holes in the rubber material (DE-OS 23 14 967). As in the known embodiment, the slide rods improve the load-bearing capacity of such joint covers decisively. Bulging of the elastomeric strip under pressure is also practically impossible.
- the elastomer zone can be stiffened in the immediate area around the coil by means of a fabric hose which surrounds the coil at a distance, so that the reduction in the material cross section caused by the cavity is compensated for again.
- the elastomeric strip can be structured in the longitudinal direction of the joint in such a way that load-bearing areas alternate with high deformability and the load-bearing areas contain the coils.
- the deformation areas can preferably be designed as a folding mechanism with a folding direction running transversely to the joint; in addition, there can be a difference in the upper and lower webs of the folding mechanism Cable reinforcement extending over the entire length of the joint can be cast in or vulcanized in. In this way it is possible that the folding mechanism can introduce the load into the supporting areas.
- the rope reinforcement also has the important task of absorbing the stresses in the webs resulting from the folding movement.
- the rope reinforcement prevents the support areas containing the coils from buckling to the side when the joint is tight. This effect occurs particularly perfectly if the load-bearing areas are webs that run alternately at an angle to the longitudinal direction of the joint. Here, the opposing tendency to deform the supporting areas is prevented by the ropes running in the longitudinal direction of the joint.
- the elastomeric strip can also be designed as a folding unit extending over its entire length with folding lines parallel to the longitudinal direction of the joint, the coils corresponding to the folding height at least in the dimension of their cross section extending perpendicular to the strip plane.
- the elastomeric strip 1 shows a cross section through an elastomeric strip 1 made of rubber-like material, in which a helix 2 made of wire is vulcanized into the lower part as an insert.
- the strip 1 covers the joint 3, which is delimited by the joint edges 4 and 5, in a watertight manner.
- the elastomeric strip 1 lies on the horizontal surface 7 of the concrete substructure forming the joint edges.
- the elastomeric strip 1 has at the opposite edges angled connecting parts 8 and 9, the horizontal legs 10 and 11 by means of screws, not shown, on the Concrete substructure are attached.
- the connecting parts 8 and 9 in the form of the angular profile carrier and the spirals 2 are inextricably connected to the elastomeric material by vulcanization.
- the helix 2 with its two ends with the angle section supports z.

- Fig. 4 with egg-shaped turns, wherein a helix with a circular cross section is arranged in the lower part within the helix with an egg-shaped cross section.
- Fig. 5 shows a schematic representation of a helix in which turns with small and large cross sections alternate.
- the windings are narrower in a first section and further wound in a second section.
- the described different designs of helixes which represent only a small part of the conceivable variations, can be adapted by the skilled person to the spe stresses of a joint covering can be selected.
- connection part 8 which is designed as a diaper profile carrier.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a covering over expansion joints in traffic routes, in particular bridges, from a block-shaped strip made of an elastomer laid in cross-sections of the carriageway on both sides of the joint, which is used for reinforcement at least in the overlap region of the joint and for connecting parts in the region of its longitudinal edges has tensile anchoring in the roadway substructure.
In such a known cover (DE-PS 22 35 413) are provided on the underside of the elastomeric plate parallel to the expansion joint, downwardly open recesses with transverse ribs, which may have stiffening inserts. On the one hand, the ribs serve to distribute tension, on the other hand, they are intended to counteract a bulging of the road surface under pressure. By arranging two recesses running next to one another at a distance, the aim is to ensure that the area of the plate in between when the plate is under pressure. is pressed against the concrete substructure. As a result of the high deformation forces inherent in this joint insert, the existing ribs be insufficient um'bei the various states of deformation of a flat characteristic F ahrbahnfläche needs.
In another known carriageway transition (
Furthermore, a joint cover with depressions on the top and bottom is known (DE-PS 1 534 377). In spite of the arcuate course of the depressions extending transversely to the expansion joint in plan view, the risk of bulging out of the road surface cannot be reliably avoided. With this known joint cover, which, like the one described above, consists of a rubber strip without stiffening inserts, only relatively low vertical loads can be absorbed.
Other known joint transitions with significantly improved load-bearing capacity (US Pat. No. 3,316,574, DE-AS 22 28 599) use plate-shaped inserts in the rubber body which bridge the expansion joint. The stretch is taken over by hobby spaces of the rubber body in the sections adjoining the bridging area on the side Since the bridging area for the compensation of material displacements in adaptation to the javelin joint position is eliminated, there is a / considerable width of such joint inserts.
In contrast, it is the object of the invention to provide a covering of the kind mentioned ingangs with gleichzeitig.hoher extensibility both in tension and in the pressure range and high load capacity, maintaining the position avoided in all Verformun g szuständen or Dehnfugenbreiten a stable, each arching .
This object is achieved in that the inserts are arranged at intervals next to each other, made of spring wire or the like hard elastic material, the longitudinal axes of which run transversely to the longitudinal direction of the joint and the ends of which are each connected to the connecting parts in a tensile manner.
The spirals act in the sense of a stiffening insert that increases the load-bearing capacity; at the same time, the elasticity and flexibility of the elastomeric strip does not impair its elasticity, so that relatively small strip widths can be used. The coils cast or vulcanized into the elastomeric strips form an adhesive bond with the elastomeric material, which preferably consists of synthetic rubber and / or natural rubber. In contrast, the spirals are made of hard elastic Material, either metal or plastic. The elasticity and load-bearing capacity of the helixes can be adapted to the respective conditions by a suitable choice of the turns. Of essential importance for the load-bearing capacity of the strip according to the invention is the tensile anchoring of the ends of the coils on the adjacent connecting parts of the strip, which serve for anchoring in the concrete substructure. The fact that, according to a further embodiment, the coils are arranged eccentrically closer to the bearing surface of the elastomeric strip opposite the traversed surface, results in a low center of gravity; this causes the elastomeric plate to be pressed down under pressure.
An increase in load capacity can be achieved with a; Embodiment achieve if the coils are arranged in several layers one above the other with sufficient thickness of the elastomeric strip. As far as the design of the coils themselves are concerned, in terms of cross-sectional shape, pitch, etc., numerous variants are conceivable that can be adapted to the respective application; the cross-sectional shape can deviate from the circular shape, for example elliptical. ' Furthermore, the longitudinal axes of the coils can be curved in the vertical plane.
A particularly interesting expedient embodiment of the invention is that the volume enclosed by a helix is designed as a cavity. The particular advantage of this embodiment is that that the elastomeric material can be displaced into the cavity when the strip is deformed without the outer contour of the strip being deformed. This embodiment can also be produced particularly simply in that the coils each sit on a core corresponding to their interior during vulcanization.
According to a particularly advantageous embodiment with hollow coil bodies, it is provided that the cavity has the shape of an internal thread and limit the turns of the coil in the area of the thread webs to the cavity. The core used for vulcanization, on which the coil is seated, has the shape of a correspondingly dimensioned screw, so that it can be unscrewed after hardening. In the case of strips of this type, the material is displaced in the area of the thread grooves of the hollow mold. Accordingly, in this embodiment there is no narrowing of the cavity within the helix. In a further embodiment of the invention, this shape of the cavity is advantageously used in that a slide rod, which is displaceably encompassed by the turns of the helix, is arranged at least in the overlap area of the joint. Such a slide bar can be held in the middle above the joint gap by means of any control parts; but it can also be anchored at one end in the edge region of the strip, so that its free end is in the narrowest joint position near the opposite edge of the strip and in the widest joint position above the opposite joint edge.
The elastomer zone can be stiffened in the immediate area around the coil by means of a fabric hose which surrounds the coil at a distance, so that the reduction in the material cross section caused by the cavity is compensated for again.
To improve the elasticity and to increase the load capacity at the same time, the elastomeric strip can be structured in the longitudinal direction of the joint in such a way that load-bearing areas alternate with high deformability and the load-bearing areas contain the coils. The deformation areas can preferably be designed as a folding mechanism with a folding direction running transversely to the joint; in addition, there can be a difference in the upper and lower webs of the folding mechanism Cable reinforcement extending over the entire length of the joint can be cast in or vulcanized in. In this way it is possible that the folding mechanism can introduce the load into the supporting areas. The rope reinforcement also has the important task of absorbing the stresses in the webs resulting from the folding movement. In addition, the rope reinforcement prevents the support areas containing the coils from buckling to the side when the joint is tight. This effect occurs particularly perfectly if the load-bearing areas are webs that run alternately at an angle to the longitudinal direction of the joint. Here, the opposing tendency to deform the supporting areas is prevented by the ropes running in the longitudinal direction of the joint.
According to a further embodiment, the elastomeric strip can also be designed as a folding unit extending over its entire length with folding lines parallel to the longitudinal direction of the joint, the coils corresponding to the folding height at least in the dimension of their cross section extending perpendicular to the strip plane.

Fig. 5 shows a schematic representation of a helix in which turns with small and large cross sections alternate.
