Description

The invention relates to a feed device for a label carrier web, which is drawn off from a supply roll, is gradually drawn by an intermittent drive through a delivery station for the labels and is wound up on a take-up shaft.

Such a device finds its essential application in machine labeling devices which provide labels and apply them to the items in time with the advance of the items to be labeled. The step-by-step or step-by-step feed of the labels creates problems in particular when a large number of labels are to be processed in one 'pass'. Because then the weight of the carrier tape and the labels is considerable, which must first be accelerated and decelerated in time with the step feed on the supply roll, then increasingly on the take-up shaft (there, however, without the labels that have now been dispensed). The resulting inertial forces have a particularly disadvantageous effect if narrow, ie. H. in the feed direction of short labels the respective stride length is small. The mass forces increase or decrease the tensile pretension in the carrier web, so that the step feed, the control of which is based on a specific pretension, moves the carrier web either too little or too much and the label provided in each case is not in the intended position with the object to be labeled comes into contact.

The invention has for its object to ensure the accurate labeling even in the case of large quantities of labels and even when it is narrow labels. This object is achieved in the feed device specified in the introduction in that a suction box acting on a storage loop of the carrier web is arranged between the supply roll and the delivery station, and in that a drive arranged in the feed direction in front of the suction box conveys the carrier web from the supply roll into the suction box. In this way, the actual step feed, in which the carrier web with the labels adhering to it is pulled through the delivery station - for example a dispensing edge - is released from the forces required for pulling the carrier web off the supply roll with regard to the tension in the carrier web as well as when accelerating and braking the supply roll. This is because the force exerted by the suction box on the carrier web in this practically inertia-free always produces the same tension preload against which the step feeder in the delivery station has to work. Furthermore, the bias generated by the suction box is position-independent, so that the device according to the invention can also be operated horizontally. Finally, it is advantageous that the defined bias applied by the suction box can be kept relatively low, so that the power to be applied by the stepper drive is correspondingly small; for the stepper drive (in addition to clutch-connected drives), this allows the use of a relatively small stepper motor in relation to the supply quantity.

Preferably, the arrangement on the feed and discharge side of the carrier web is made symmetrical in that a suction box acting on a loop of the returning carrier web is also provided between the intermittent drive and the take-up roll, the separately driven take-up shaft pulling the carrier web out of the loop. On in this way, the separation between the large masses to be moved with the supply roll and the take-up shaft and the section of the carrier web moved in each case by the delivery station for the labels is complete.

It is then advantageous to combine the two suction boxes and to connect them to a common suction fan, because the construction effort is thereby reduced.

One of the further developments provided according to the invention is that the effective width of the suction box can be adapted to the width of the carrier web by at least one inner plate which can be displaced transversely to the feed direction of the carrier web. In this way, changing the labels to be processed can be taken into account quickly and easily. Since the arrangement is preferably made such that the carrier web loop formed in the suction box forms, as it were, the sixth wall of the cuboid suction box and thus closes it, cover devices for the ineffective sections of the perforated plates are preferably provided in the arrangement of displaceable inner plates, in order to prevent Secondary air 'the vacuum in the suction box breaks down.

In terms of control technology, the arrangement is preferably such that sensors determine the length of the storage loops in the suction boxes and switch the drives of the supply roll or the take-up shaft on or off when certain minimum or maximum lengths are reached. This results in different cycles for the supply roll and the take-up shaft on the one hand, and for the step feed in the delivery station on the other. While the length of the latter is determined by the label width (= length in the direction of advance), a cycle step on the supply roll and the take-up shaft takes as long as until (in the feed section) the storage loop has been built up from its minimum value to its maximum value or (in the discharge section) the storage loop has been dismantled from its maximum value to its minimum value.

Darin zeigt:

  • Fig. 1 eine schematische Seitenansicht der erfindungsgemäßen Vorschubeinrichtung;
The drawing illustrates the invention using an exemplary embodiment. It shows:
  • Figure 1 is a schematic side view of the feed device according to the invention.
  • Figure 2 shows a section through the double suction box according to the line II-II in Figure 1, in a simplified representation. and
  • Fig. 3 shows a cross section along the line III-III in Fig. 2, also in a simplified representation.

The supply roll 2 and the take-up shaft 3 for the carrier web 4 are mounted on a frame plate 1. The carrier web 4 still carries the labels lined up one behind the other on the supply roll 2, while the carrier web 4 alone is wound up on the take-up shaft 3 (and later thrown away). A motor is arranged behind the plate 1 (and therefore not visible), which drives both the receiving shaft 3 and a capstan 5 continuously via a clutch.

The carrier web 4 runs from the supply roll 2 via a tensor roller 6, which is mounted on an arm 7 which can be pivoted against spring force. It then runs through a web brake, which consists of a stationary roller 8 and a pivotable brake block 9. The latter is pressed against the roller 8 while overcoming an opening spring force and prevents the carrier web 4 from returning if the pressure roller 10 is not - as is shown in FIG. 1 - the carrier web 4 against the capstan 5 presses and thus causes the transport of the carrier web 4, but is pivoted about a lever 11 from the capstan 5.

The carrier web 4 then runs in a loop 12 through the upper part 13 of a suction box, designated as a whole by 14, described in more detail below, and via various deflection rollers in the direction of arrow 15 to the (not shown) delivery station for the labels, for example a so-called dispensing edge.

The carrier web 4 freed from the labels comes back in the direction of the arrow 16 from the delivery station and runs around the drive roller 17 of a stepping drive, which ensures the advance of the carrier web 4 between the suction box section 13 and the drive roller 17. The stepper drive can be a clutch-switched motor or a stepper motor. Controlled by the goods to be labeled, it pulls the carrier web 4 forward by the length of the label measured in the feed direction.

The carrier web 4 then runs into a further storage loop 18 in the lower part 19 of the suction box 14 and is pulled from there in sections - via various deflection rollers - from the driven take-up shaft 3.

The suction box 14, although greatly simplified there, is shown somewhat more precisely in FIGS. 2 and 3. From this it can be seen how the upper suction box section 13 and the lower suction box section 14 are combined to form a common housing. Each partial suction box 13, 14 encloses an elongated cuboid interior 20 and 21, which is open at the top and bottom, but is closed in operation by the associated storage loop 12, 18 of the carrier web 4. The respective other end surface of the interiors 20, 21 is closed by a perforated plate 22, which are part of a common suction nozzle 23 which runs transversely to the main axis of the suction boxes 13, 19 which runs perpendicularly in FIGS. 1 and 2. A suction fan 24 is flanged to the suction nozzle 23.

In the interiors 20, 21, parallel to the associated outer walls 25, 26 of the suction box 14, inner sheets 27, 28 are arranged and displaceable in the direction of the double arrows 29. The inner sheets 27 on the one hand and the inner sheets 28 on the other hand are connected to one another in a manner not shown, so that they can be moved together in the interiors 20, 21 and adjusted to the respective width of the carrier web 4.

Between the outer wall 25 and the inner sheets 27 and between the outer wall 26 and the inner sheets 28, tapes 30 can be unwound and rewound from rollers 31 like a roller blind. They serve to cover those sections of the perforated plates 22 that do not belong to the required interior 20, 21 of the suction boxes 13, 19 and therefore have to be rendered ineffective. The covering of the perforated plates 22 by the strips 30 fastened with their free ends to the inner plates 27, 28 is indicated in FIG. 3 by shading.

Each partial suction box 13, 19 has two light barriers 32, 33, which each sense the minimum or maximum length of the storage loops 12, 18 and, depending on this, switch on the capstan drive 5, 10 or the drive of the receiving shaft 3. In the situation shown in Fig. 1, both drives are at rest. If the drive roller 17 of the stepper drive now conveys the carrier web 4 by a few cycles, the storage loop 18 increases, while the storage loop 12 downsized. As soon as the storage loop 12 'leaves' the light barrier 32 belonging to its partial suction box 13, the pressure roller 10 is pressed against the capstan 5 and at the same time the brake block 9 is released from the roller 8, so that the carrier web 4 with labels is removed from the supply roller 2 and the storage loop 12 is enlarged again until it reaches the light barrier 33 in the partial suction box 13. Then the pressure roller 10 is pivoted away from the capstan 5 and at the same time the brakes 8, 9 are closed again.

Furthermore, when the storage loop 18 reaches its maximum size and actuates the light barrier 33 in its partial suction box 19, the clutch on the common drive motor switches on the receiving shaft 3 and pulls the carrier web 4 (free of labels) out of the suction box 19 until the Photoelectric switch 32 responds and the drive clutch opens again.

Entsprechendes gilt für die Speicherschleife 18 der Trägerbahn 4 im Saugkasten 19.From the above explanation it has also become clear that the work cycle of the drive roller 17 is completely independent of the work cycle of the capstan 5 and the take-up shaft 3. Furthermore, those forces which occur in front of the storage loop 12 play no role for the counter-pull in the carrier web 4, because the force exerted on the carrier web 4 in the suction box 13 is always the same regardless of the length of the storage loop 12. The same applies to the storage loop 18 of the carrier web 4 in the suction box 19.
