In Fig. 4 sind die Anschläge 3 übrigens in einer Stellung gezeigt, die zu einer relativ losen Banderole 28 führen würde. In der Praxis wird der Weg der Anschläge 3 so eingestellt, dass sich diese beim Schweissvorgang praktisch auf der Höhe des Schweiss- und Schneidbackens 9 befinden. Claims (3)

1. An apparatus for banding a loose stack of sheets, such as bank notes or the like, by means of bands comprising a carrier plate having a feeding station and a packing station, means for conveying said stack aligned parallel to said carrier plate from said feeding station to said packing station and a pressing plate for compressing said stack in said packing station, said pressing plate being lowerable in the direction of said carrier plate, a first band from a first supply roll above the conveying path of said stack and a second band from a second supply roll below the conveying path of said stack being fed to a sealing and cutting device, said sealing and cutting device having at least one pair of sealing jaws movable relative to said carrier plate, said sealing and cutting device further joining said bands by means of two sealing seams and severing said bands between said two sealing seams in one operating cycle, wherein said conveying means have stops (3) for engagement with the rear edge of said stack (1), arranged on both sides of said stationary carrier plate (2) and perpendicular to said carrier plate, said stops further being moveable from said feeding station into a position immediately behind said sealing and cutting device (9,26), and wherein said pressing plate (4) and said conveying means (3) are operatively connected, the weight- and/or spring-loaded downward movement of said pressing plate (4) being initiated in the course of the movement of said stack (1) into said packing station.
2. An apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said pressing plate (4) is movably guided by means of parallel links (5, 5') parallel to said carrier plate (2).
3. An apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said pressing plate (4) has an aperture (7) arranged adjacent to said sealing and cutting device (9, 26), the upper band (6) being fed through said aperture to said sealing device (9, 26).
