Abstract
Un método y aparato para remover arsénico de un material portador de arsénico. El método incluye los pasos de poner en contacto un material portador de arsénico con un agente lixiviador de arsénico para formar una solución que contiene arsénico y sólidos empobrecidos en arsénico. El agente lixiviador puede ser una sal inorgánica, un ácido inorgánico, un ácido orgánico y/o un agente alcalino. Los sólidos empobrecidos en arsénico se separan de la solución que contiene arsénico, la cual se pone en contacto con un agente fijador para producir una solución empobrecida en arsénico y un agente fijador enriquecido en arsénico. El agente fijador comprende un compuesto que contiene tierras raras que pueden incluir cerio, lantano o praseodimio. El agente fijador se separa entonces de la solución empobrecida en arsénico. Se puede separar y recuperar un metal recuperable de los sólidos empobrecidos en arsénico, la solución que contiene arsénico o la solución empobrecida en arsénico. Los metales recuperables pueden incluir un metal del Grupo IA, Grupo IIA, Grupo VIII y los metales de transición.
