Abstract
Un método y aparato para separar arsénico de una solución acuosa que contiene arsénico. El método incluye los pasos de poner en contacto una solución que contiene arsénico con una primera porción de agente fijador para remover por lo menos una porción del arsénico. Un agente fijador enriquecido en arsénico se separa de la solución y la solución parcialmente empobrecida se pone en contacto con una segunda porción del agente fijador. El agente fijador puede incluir un compuesto insoluble de alta área superficial que contiene uno o más de cerio, lantano o praseodimio. Luego de la remoción del arsénico, la solución empobrecida en arsénico se puede procesar adicionalmente para separar un metal recuperable a través de refinación de metales. El agente fijador enriquecido en arsénico se puede filtrar para recuperar y reciclar un filtrado hacia la solución para su tratamiento adicional, así como también se puede utilizar un agente fijador parcialmente saturado para remover arsénico de una solución fresca. Se puede formar una solución que contiene arsénico a partir de sólidos que contienen arsénico tales como suelos contaminados, subproductos industriales y materiales de desecho.
