Abstract

In the case of cottons of at least two basic threads joined together by means of a hot-melt adhesive thread, it is difficult to achieve a sufficiently firm bonding whilst still maintaining the necessary cotton characteristics. Known cottons of this type require, in particular, a very strong twist. In order to eliminate these drawbacks, it is proposed that the basic threads formed by multifilament cottons are twirled together with at least one multifilament adhesive cotton, such that, owing to the loops and windings formed during the twirling together and distributed over the cross section of the cotton, a very firm bonding of the individual filaments is obtained, together with other prominent cotton characteristics.
