Abstract

An apparatus for removing soil, clay and the like from vehicle tyres, in particular from wide tread tyres, such as tractor tyres, comprises at least one cleaning mechanism 7a, 7b with a number of impact elements, for example in the form of balls at the ends of radially controlled lengths of wire, which are connected to a preferably flexible shaft 17, which can be driven from the vehicle power take-off 23. The shaft 17 is mounted at a distance from the vehicle tyre such that, as they rotate, the impact elements strike against the tread of the tyre. The vehicle tyres 1 can thereby be continuously cleaned whilst driving. The cleaning mechanisms 7a and 7b may be mounted on a swivelling arm 20, by means of which they can be swivelled away from the tyre 1. <IMAGE>
