Abstract
The meter employs a turbine wheel (4) rotating about a pin (3) in a recess (2) in the wall (1) of a pressure chamber. The surface of the pin has a number of sectors with reflecting coatings (6) in the path of the infrared beam from a diode (7). The reflection is detected by a phototransistor (8) incorporated with the diode in a sealed insert (9) in the wall. The diode emits short pulses preferably 3-5 mu s wide and the phototransistor has a delayed response which extends them to 500 ms for reliable signal processing.
