Abstract

PURPOSE:To make reflected luminous flux incident on the photodetection part of a light wave distance measuring instrument even when constitution is simple and the surface of liquid waves and to measure a distance stably by providing a corner cube which floats on the surface of the liquid. CONSTITUTION:A light source 8 projects luminous flux l on the corner cube 5 through a half-mirror 9, an objective 10, and a window 6 and the luminous flux l which is reflected by the reflecting surface of the corner cube passes through the same optical path and is reflected 9 toward the photodetection part 12. The luminous flux is reflected by the mirror 9 toward a reflecting mirror 11 as well, passes through the mirror 9, and reflected 11 toward the photodetection part 12. The photodetection part 12 photodetects those two pieces of luminous flux and a measurement part 13 measures the position of the liquid level according to the phase difference between the pieces of luminous flux. Here, a measurement part 13 calculates the difference between the positions of the reflecting surface of the cube 5 and the liquid level previously from the liquid specific gravity in a tank 1 and the weight of the cube 5, so the position of the reflecting surface of the cube 5 is only measured to know the position of the liquid level.
