BUNDESREPUBLIK DEUTSCHLANDFEDERAL REPUBLIC OF GERMANY
Tag der Anmeldung: 30. Juli 1952 Bekanntgemacht am 9. Februar 1956Registration date: July 30, 1952. Advertised on February 9, 1956
DEUTSCHES PATENTAMTGERMAN PATENT OFFICE
Nicotinic acid esters are prepared by direct methods according to the previously known methods Implementation of nicotinic acid with the corresponding alcohols in the presence of larger amounts Mineral acids, preferably sulfuric acid, or by the action of nicotinic acid chloride or its hydrochloride to the corresponding alcohols (R. Charonnat, M. Harispe et L. Chevillard, Bull. Soc. chim. de Fr., 1948, p. ιοί4 to 1017). Larger amounts of strong mineral acids as esterification catalysts are only used in the implementation lower aliphatic alcohols with nicotinic acid useful. With increasing chain length of the Alcohols drop the ester yields noticeably. The attempt in this way z. B. benzyl alcohol to esterify fails because the side reactions leading to resinification predominate. The representation on the nicotinic acid chloride has the disadvantage that already in the preparation of the Acid chloride (Mayer and Graf, Ber., Vol. 61 [1928], p. 2202fr.), Significant losses of valuable starting materials occur.
It has now been found that nicotinic acid interacts directly with primary or secondary alcohols Can be esterified in good yields if this is done instead of the high acid concentrations customary hitherto such amounts of an inorganic or organic acid are used that about

Außer der Nicotinsäure selbst können beispielsweise Pyridin, Chinolin und deren DerivateUp to 8% of the nicotinic acid is converted into the salt form and the reaction stops before the conversion of all of the nicotinic acid. You can also use appropriate amounts of salts apply from acids and tertiary bases in the esterification; in this form the used unfold Acids have the most favorable catalytic action. In addition to the nicotinic acid itself, for example Pyridine, quinoline and their derivatives

The heating time is of decisive importance for the course of the reaction. One to prolonged heating leads to the decomposition of the resulting esters, so that it is necessary to start the reaction interrupt before the complete implementation of nicotinic acid. The unreacted one Nicotinic acid can be recovered and reused for new approaches.

Vakuum fraktioniert destilliert.20 g nicotinic acid and 0.2 ecm sulfuric acid are mixed with 60 ecm n-hexanol- (i) and 11 hours under, abortion of the resulting water of reaction boiled. After cooling down the precipitated nicotinic acid is suctioned off, washed with ether and the filter residue is dried. The rest of the unreacted nicotinic acid is obtained from the ether-diluted filtrate by shaking with soda solution until the reaction is weakly alkaline and neutralized this solution with hydrochloric acid. A total of about 2.7 g of nicotinic acid is recovered. the essential solution, which contains the nicotinic acid ester and excess hexyl alcohol, is over Sodium sulfate dried and then im. Vacuum fractionally distilled.
