DEUTSCHES PATENTAMTGERMAN PATENT OFFICE
The offset cylinder of offset printing machines As is known, takes over the print image from the plate cylinder and transfers it to the paper. Since the non-printing, moistened areas of the printing plate are approximately at the same height as the areas that carry ink, the blanket comes into contact with them. It takes over the moisture and gives it to the paper or the like when printing. Those in the wake of this apparition occurring difficulties are well known. Coated papers roll up and it is sometimes impossible to get them exactly to the filing table; format changes and associated registration difficulties occur, especially in the case of multi-color machines, if at all possible, only with a great deal of time spent setting up are to be fixed.
Ein trockenes Gummituch entzieht Attempts have been made to avoid these disadvantages by having the blanket after Application of the print image and before contact with the paper by heating or inflating from air dries. This in itself makes it possible to use some of the Remove moisture. However, by doing this, the balance between that of the The amount of moisture supplied by the dampening rollers and removed by the rubber blanket is disturbed. A dry blanket removes it

der Platte wesentlich mehr Wasser, als dies bei einem mit Feuchtigkeit gesättigten Gummituch der Fall ist, und der erhöhte Feuchtigkeitsverluist muß durch verstärkte Wassergabe wieder ausgeglichen werden, was auf der anderen Seite die Gefa.hr des Emulgierens der Farbe nach sich zieht.the plate has considerably more water than is the case with a rubber blanket saturated with moisture The case is, and the increased loss of moisture must be compensated for by increasing the amount of water on the other hand, the danger of Emulsification of the color entails.
Es ist ferner schon vorgeschlagen worden, dieIt has also been suggested that

■• swelling and tackiness of the rubber surface zui prevent zui and it is this end, a process is described as similar in the treatment of chromium colloid emulsions is known. The rubber blanket should be provided with a non-swellable closed layer which protects the rubber layer underneath from contact with the substances that create a relief or make the rubber surface sticky. Such a cured rubber layer is not suitable to prevent a Übertraguing of Feuichtwasser from the printing plate to the printed paper to 1, which was not intended for the above proposal. ■
In contrast, the invention is characterized by the use of an elastic elevator material for the offset cylinder of offset printing machines, which has silicone on its surface is treated or consists of silicone rubber. The silicones cannot be wetted by water, and it is achieved on the one hand that no moisture from the printing plate on the Offset cylinder reaches the paper to be printed, and that on the other hand the 'printing plate only the Fire quantities are to be supplied, which by the unavoidable evaporation on the Lost disk. Through this water-repellent prepared surface of the offset cylinder elevator it becomes possible to keep the plate free of clay with a previously unattained low level of moisture.
If an elastic rubber blanket is used, this can be done at certain time intervals or continuously be provided with a thin layer of silicone oil.
However, an elastic rubber blanket can also be used, the surface of which is made of a vulcanized Layer is made up of silicone rubber. Such a blanket cannot be wetted by water and usable without additional facilities.
