DEUTSCHES PATENTAMTGERMAN PATENT OFFICE
In the course of previous studies it has been observed that the dentifrices are soap-based The means of this kind, which are always alkaline, call upon contact mi, t the gums heirvoir an enlargement of the tissue pores that allow the passage of. outside coming Relieves contamination and, at times, causes inflammation of the gums. This Effect is caused by one of the soaps and foaming agents. Decrease in surface tension of saliva worsens, which i & t is unfortunate, for the surface tension is a natural protective agent for the oral mucous membranes and gum tissue.
To avoid these disadvantages, it is known to use the dentifrice sodium chloride or even more better to incorporate ordinary sea salt, i.e. neutral bodies, which affect the surface tension the saliva does not act. If so, the incorporation in the dentifrice in such Amount takes place that the liquid coming into contact with the gums, a so-called has hypertonic composition, d. H. is greater than the salt concentration in the blood serum, calls the dissolved salt produces an osmosis effect, from which a contraction of the tissue pores and which prevents the penetration of infectious substances.

Die Vorteile von Zahmputzmitteln dieser Art sind in zahlreichen Veröffentlichungen beschrieben worden, insbesondere in Revue meinsuelJe sui.sse d'Odontologie, September 1947, S. 74 bis 724; Therapeutische Umschau, Bern, Februar' 1949, S. 185 bis 193; Medecine et hygiene, Genf, i.August 1949; L'Odontologie (Association Generale des Dentisitea de France), März 1950, S. 163 bis 168.The benefits of toothbrushes of this type have been described in numerous publications, especially in Revue meinsuelJe sui.sse d'Odontologie, September 1947, pp. 74 to 724; Therapeutic review, Bern, February 1949, Pp. 185 to 193; Medecine et hygiene, Geneva, August i, 1949; L'Odontologie (Association Generale des Dentisitea de France), March 1950, p. 163 to 168.
In any case · offers the manufacture of a dentifrice numerous difficulties on the salt base. It is known to be solid salt in the ordinary Form and use it the. different To incorporate components of the paste. This method is unsuitable. In fact, that is resolving Salt is not immediately and completely in the saliva when used, so that salt crystals remain when in contact with the gums; an unbearable one. Cause pain. In addition, own these crystals have sharp edges and do not only have a grinding effect on the. Enamel, but also, on the gums they injure.
Since the use of the solid salt is not suitable, it is already known that it is used in dentifrice in liquid form, i.e. 1 . H. in solution. But so that the salt reaches the desired proportion, you have to. necessarily use a concentrated solution. This is described in German patent specification 805 416.
However, experience has shown that you can. in a toothbrush with the usual, necessary basic materials, such as abrasives, fatty substances, that dissolve the tar or nicotine, etc., a concentrated salt solution in a form that is stable and does not give rise to the formation of dangerous salt crystals, is difficult to incorporate can.
Im the well known, toothpastes mentioned in the reference "Cosmetic Internship", Part III, The Cosmetics of the Mouth, by H. Janistyn, 1939, P. 154, last paragraph, and p. 155, paragraph 1 are, the proportion of salts, namely, bicarbonate, sulfates and chlorides is so weak that their dissolution is not a problem. The glycerin only plays the role of an emollient.
The invention relates to a method by which a toothpaste agent is obtained, in which has dissolved enough salt to exert the necessary osmotic pressure and at the same time from, salt in solid form is free.
This process consists in introducing the salt in the form of an aqueous solution with the addition of glycerol into the dentifrice, by mixing this solution with a suitable carrier which contains the abrasives and the fatty substances. The present simultaneously with the solution of the salt water as a vehicle glycerol, which also develops a 1 solution own effect, prevents the evaporation of the water undi Safeguard sufficient moisture, thereby-induced supersaturation of the aqueous solution crystallization avoided. By / its own ability to dissolve the salt, the glycerine prevents the crystallization of the salt, in the case of oversaturation of the aqueous solution by evaporation or the like. Thanks to the hygroscopic effect of the glycerine, the paste produced in this way does not dry out, even if it is exposed to the air in order to keep the salt in a dissolved state. The glycerine also facilitates mixing with the carrier and contributes to its durability.
The carrier of the saline solution is made up of one or more powdery loops together, e.g. B. calcium carbonate, kaolin, phosphates, powdered; Alumina etc. The carrier mixture is also mixed with components which are able to form an emulsion, both in terms of the solution and the carrier as well as the added fat is persistent.
Colloidal koalin or bentonite is preferably used as the emulsifying agent. Similarly, in the product fragrances or antiseptic agents and optionally foaming agents, e.g. B. methylcelluilose, introduced.
It should be noted that after this method using the; Glycerine made! Dentifrices compared to the earlier salt-based dentifrices, the. has a considerable advantage of a significantly lower, salty taste. This advantage is likely due to the fact that the glycerin itself has a sweet taste which partially neutralizes the salty taste. The presence of the glycerine enables so- without; that this creates an unpleasant taste when Ge use, a significantly higher content of the tooth brush means of salt and thus a better tonic effect on the gums.
The procedure results in an effective and permanent dentifrice. if. from runs out of a solution which contains, in parts by weight:
Seesialz (oder Natriumchlorid,) ... 10 bis 25%Seesialz (or sodium chloride,) ... 10 to 25%
Wasser 25 - 50'%Water 25 - 50%
Glycerin 25 - 50%Glycerine 25 - 50%
This solution 1 is added to a dusty mixture of abrasives, such as sodium carbonate, to which calcium isophate, clay, kaolin or any other neutral powder and fatty substances such as paraffin oil, petrolatum or the like are added.
Man wendet un- : gefahr 2 Gewichtsteile Bentonit auf 1 Gewichtsteil Fettstoff an.Colloidal kaolin or bentonite is added to the paste thus formed, which has the effect that the whole thing is able to emulsify and that the added fatty bodies are brought into suspension. The proportion of bentonite or colloidal kaolin that must be used depends on the amount of fat to be emulsified. One applies un-: at risk 2 parts by weight of bentonite 1 part by weight of lipid.
