Process for the production of solid propellants for rockets In the main patent - a process for the production of solid propellants on the basis of nitrocellulose with an addition of a gelatinizing agent and optionally with conventional additives such as stabilizers, combustion regulators and the like is described by molding and pressing is characterized in that a fibrous nitrocellulose with a fiber length of 0.5 to 2.5 mm is used, which before or after pressing and / or molding, optionally at a pressure of up to a maximum of 10 kg / cm2, especially at 6 to 8 kg / cm2, is so gelatinized by brief immersion in a known liquid or liquefied gelatinizing agent that the fiber structure of the nitrocellulose is retained.
a.In this way of working, it is not always easy to find the uniform one
Bringing the gelatinizing agent all over the body. Surprisingly
it was now found that the gelatinization is uniform and easy to carry out,
if water-containing nitrocellulose is used instead of gelatinizing agents
known liquid solvents for nitrocellulose, in particular ketones
or ester, used, this in So to Go% water or an organic diluent,
based on nitrocellulose, emulsified or dissolved. the
Emulsions
or solutions should contain 5 to 2o% solvent and the nitrocellulose before
gelatinized after pressing with these solutions or emulsions and the solution
and / or diluents driven off during curing. As a solution emulsifying medium
water or organic liquids such as methanol are preferred,
Ethanol, propanol, aliphatic hydrocarbons such as heptanes, hexanes, octanes,
and their mixtures, aromatic hydrocarbons such as benzene, toluene, xylene and the like.
a.
As a known liquid solvent for nitrocellulose can
for example ketones such as acetone, methyl ethyl ketone, diethyl ketone, or esters such as
Ethyl acetate, but also nitrated hydrocarbons, such as nitromethane, can be used.
Acetone has proven to be particularly advantageous.
Beispiel i io,8 kg (Trockengewicht)
gelöst in 15 kg Aceton, zulaufen.
suspendiert. The manufacture, such as the pressing, drying and finishing of the solid propellant charge, is carried out as described in the main patent. According to a particularly advantageous embodiment of the invention, the diluents or solvents can be selected in such a way that they are driven out again at the same time as the bodies harden. The following examples are intended to explain the procedure according to the present invention in more detail, without the invention being restricted to the specific conditions given herein. Example 10.8 kg (dry weight) of water-moist nitrocellulose of 12.8% N are suspended in about 100 liters of water with vigorous stirring. A solution of 2 kg of nitroglycerin, 150 g of Centralit I and 1 kg of dibutyl phthalate, dissolved in 15 kg of acetone, is slowly run into the suspension obtained, with vigorous stirring. The amount of acetone is calculated to give a concentration of about 15% in the aqueous slurry. The acetone is absorbed by the wool. After about 20 minutes of stirring time, the wool is freed from the excess liquid by suction or centrifugation (moisture content about 55010) and pressed on a press at a pressure of 5 to 7 kg / cm 2. The pressed bodies are first dried at 30 to 35 ° C and then cured at temperatures of up to 0 ° C. The propellant charges produced in this way can - depending on the degree of compaction achieved, ie the remaining porosity in the propellant charge - be set to burn rates between qo and 100 mm / sec (at 70 kg / cm2 and normal temperature). EXAMPLE 2 10 kg (dry weight) uniformly nitrated Ni.trocellulose of 12.6o0 / 0 N are suspended in 10 kg of water at 25 ° C. by means of a high-speed propeller stirrer.
Nitroglycerin, i5o g Centralit I (Stabilisator), i kg Dibutylphthalat und g kg Nitromethan
einlaufen.
i weiterbehandelt. A solution of 6.95 kg of nitroglycerin, 150 g of Centralit I (stabilizer), 1 kg of dibutyl phthalate and g kg of nitromethane is slowly run into this suspension. The amount of nitromethane is calculated so that a concentration of about 10% nitromethane results in the aqueous slurry. While stirring, the nitromethane is absorbed by the wool. After 20 minutes of stirring, the mass is spun off in a centrifuge to 50% residual moisture (volatile constituents). The mass obtained in this way is pressed at a pressure of 10 kg / cm 2 and treated further as in Example i.
Propellant charges produced in this way can be set to burning speeds between 50 and 100 mm / sec (at 70 kg / cm2 and normal temperature).
