Die Erfindung betrifft einen Umschlag mit wenigstens einem randseitigen Falz und einer Verschlußklappe. - Briefumschläge sind in verschiedenen Formaten und Größen bekannt. Sie bestehen in der Regel aus einem Papierzuschnitt, der so gefaltet wird, daß ein Briefumschlag mit randseitigen Falzen und einer Öffnung entsteht, die mit Hilfe der Verschlußklappe verschließbar ist. Die Verschlußklappe weist innenseitig einen Randstreifen aus einem selbstklebenden oder einem aktivierbaren Klebstoff auf. Der Randstreifen erstreckt sich bis kurz vor das Ende des Verschlußklappenfalzes. Beim Öffnen des Briefumschlages kann es zu Problemen kommen, wenn der klebende Randstreifen der Verschlußklappe bis dicht an das Ende des Verschlußklappenfalzes herangeführt ist, weil dann ein Brieföffner nicht mehr in die verbleibende Öffnung eingeführt werden kann.
