Dadurch kann die Auftriebskraft der Luftblasen, die beim Abschäumvorgang im Kontaktrohr {3} nach oben steigen, ausgenutzt werden, um das Wasser im Rohr zu bewegen. Damit entfällt die Notwendigkeit, für den transport des Wassers eine elektrische Förderpumpe einzusetzen. Während der Passage des Kontaktrohres findet der Abschäumvorgang statt; die Schadstoffe sammeln sich, wie bei üblichen Abschäumern auch, im oben befindlichen Schaumbecher (4).This problem is solved by an S-shaped pipe (1 and 3) leading the water out of the aquarium, passing it through the entire skimmer to allow it to rise above the water level of the aquarium so that it can flow passively back into the aquarium.
