Description

Rinsing liquid for phosphated metals When phosphating with usual solutions of primary, d. H. heavy metal acid phosphates occur, though the rinsing process only with water and, if necessary, with neutralization of the rest Phosphating liquid, e.g. B. with weak soda solution, takes place, but easily Corrosion. It has therefore been suggested to use clean chromate solutions as well Use chromic acid solutions as rinsing liquids for phosphated metals. from Quite apart from economic considerations, these rinsing liquids have the disadvantage that with their use the risk of occurrence of considerable Skin damage is associated. It has now been found that one is surprising in such a way can also avoid the disadvantages of corrosion in phosphated metals, if you treat the phosphated metals with rinsing liquids that come from a aqueous solution of a mixture containing sodium metasilicate and sodium nitrite exist. The aqueous solution can advantageously be one of about 65 parts of sodium metasilicate and 35 parts of nitrite existing mixture can be used.

Since the solutions used according to the invention or the the salts required for this are particularly easily accessible and do not cause skin damage give is with their use a significant technical advance tied together.

Example one with a solution of primary heavy metal phosphates Sheet metal treated with the usual composition is briefly with water and then afterwards with an 0.5% solution of 65 parts of sodium metasilicate and 35 parts of sodium nitrite containing mixture rinsed. The sheet metal treated in this way tends to -to an iron sheet treated with a phosphate mixture and rinsed only with water not to rust.
