Wenn man Pflanzen dieser Art mit einem organischen Lösungsmittel, vorzugsweise Chloroform, bei möglichst niedrigen Temperaturen extrahiert und den Extrakt dann bei gleichfalls möglichst niedrigen Temperaturen zu einer konzentrierten Lösung oder zum reinen Produkt aufarbeitet, erhält man ein Proazulen, das wahrscheinlich eine Carbonsäureestergruppe enthält und das hiernach als Proazulen I bezeichnet wird.
