Description
The innovation relates to an insulation element, in particular for pitched roofs, in the form of a rectangular roof panel with, if necessary, a stepped edge, on which an aluminium foil rests that ends at the upper edge of the roof panel, with a plastic foil being provided to cover at least the joint to the adjacent insulation element downstream of the roof.
In a known insulation element of this type (see EP-A-O 248 193), the aluminum foil forms the outermost layer. The plastic foil used to cover the joints is designed as a strip that runs along the edge of the foam plate beneath the aluminum plate in the foam and is anchored in it. The disadvantage of such a construction is that the aluminum foil is easily damaged when stepped on. A rain-drenched foil is also by no means safe to walk on.
The possibility of varying the construction described in detail there with external aluminum foil was already discussed in DE-U-18 63 352 in such a way that the aluminum foil is placed between the roof panel and a final glass fleece sheet. In any case, however, the joint is to be covered with aluminum foil. As correctly explained in DE-B-19 56 842, such a sealing strip has the disadvantage that it has no deformation possibilities and tears even with slight relative movements of neighboring panels.
The innovation, on the other hand, creates an insulating element that is relatively robust and safe to walk on even in the rain.
This is achieved by the plastic film completely covering the aluminum foil.
In order to ensure the necessary flexibility of the joint cover, the film intended for this purpose is preferably made of polyethylene foam. This is more elastic than the material of the roof panel itself (usually polyurethane foam). The water vapor diffusion resistance of such a film is sufficiently low to avoid problems with condensation. In addition, it is possible to connect the PE film covering the joint to the neighboring element only at certain points, which means that the possibility of vapor dissipation is maintained between the bonding points.
A particular advantage of the innovation is that the film used to cover the joints simultaneously provides full-surface heat and sound insulation. The PE film can be colored as desired and, unlike aluminum foil, is glare-free from the start.
Details of the innovation are then explained using the drawings, which show a schematic cross-section through the connection area of two adjacent insulation elements.
The insulation elements shown essentially consist of roof panels 3 made of PU foam that are rectangular when viewed from above. The edge can be formed, for example, by shifting two rectangles diagonally. The edge can also be provided with a tongue and groove or even be beveled straight.
An aluminum foil 1 is located over the entire surface of the plate 3, which ends at the edge 2 of the plate 3. A film 4 made of polyethylene foam projects downwards over the edge 2 and preferably also to one side. If the thickness of the plate 3 is 5 to 12 cm, the thickness of the film 4 is typically about 5 mm. The side of the plate 3 resting on the roof 8 can also be provided with an aluminum foil 1 and a polyethylene layer 7, which is usually thinner than the film 4.
The strip 6 of the foil 4 covering the joint 5 between adjacent panels 3 can be glued to the top of the lower insulation element in spots or strips by heating with warm air. This is a further advantage that results from the innovative proposal to provide the aluminum foil 1 above the panel 3 but not below the edge strip 6 of the foil 4.
