Hindernisauflage für Springreit-HindernisstangenObstacle support for show jumping obstacle poles
As is well known, obstacle poles for show jumping must be height-adjustable and also be held in such a way that they can be torn if the horse jumps too low without causing harm. Obstacle supports are used for this purpose, on which the ends of the poles on both sides rest and which are held on the posts on both sides. The obstacle supports consist of a flat shell body, which serves as a support for the relevant end of the pole, and a holding body firmly connected to the shell body, which has a hanging device for optionally hanging in one of the multiple hanging receptacles arranged on the post at certain heights.
Due to the flat shell shape of the support body, if the horse jumps too low, the pole can easily be torn forward over the edge of the only flatly curved support shell, but it also happens in show jumping that a horse hesitates shortly before the obstacle, prepares to jump and jumps high enough, but as a result of the delay before the obstacle, jumps too short and therefore does not overcome the obstacle, but lands on its belly on the pole. Unlike when you pull with the feet when the jump is too low, the pole cannot fall off the supports, but remains lying there, which can lead to serious injuries, especially internal injuries, to the horse.
The invention is therefore based on the object of designing an obstacle pad in such a way that in cases of jumping too short, injury to the horse can be avoided. This object is achieved according to the invention by the obstacle pad specified in claim 1.
The obstacle pad according to the invention differs from a conventional obstacle pad in that the support shell is no longer rigidly connected to the holding body, but that with the aid of the known ball-lock principle, a force-dependent, releaseable form-locking connection is created between the shell body and the holding body, which normally holds the shell body in its correct position relative to the holding body, i.e. approximately at right angles to it, so that an obstacle bar rests securely on it, but in the event of excessive loading of the shell body from above, this ball-locking form-locking connection is released and the shell body can swing downwards, so that the obstacle bar can in this case move downwards and fall down. If a horse jumps too short and lands on its belly on the bar, the bar gives way because the shell body of the obstacle pad is released, so that the horse cannot be seriously injured.
In den Zeichnungen zeigt:An embodiment of the invention is shown in the accompanying drawings and is briefly described below. In the drawings:

According to the drawings, the obstacle support according to the invention consists of a flat shell body (see in particular Fig. 1 and 3) in the form of a cylindrical segment-shaped, only flatly curved shell 1, and of a holding body in the form of a vertically oriented plate 2 with two hanging pins 3 arranged on the back thereof, which serve for hanging in corresponding hanging receptacles of an obstacle post.
Unlike conventional obstacle supports, the plate 2 and the shell 1 are not rigidly welded together, but rather connected to one another by a type of hinge joint. As can best be seen from Fig. 2 and 3, two approximately circular disk-shaped tabs 4 are welded to the back of the shell 1, which (see also Fig. 1) are located on both sides of the lower end area of the plate of the holding body. These two tabs 4 and the lower end area of the plate 2 are provided with a horizontal through-hole for receiving a hinge pin 5. The hinge pin 5 can be designed to be removable, for example by having a thickened head at one end, as shown, and being fixed in position at the other end by means of a snap ring 6 or the like or by means of a screwed-on nut (not shown).
Wie Fig. 1 zeigt, ist die Platte 2 des Haltekörpers etwas oberhalb der zur Aufnahme des Scharnierbolzens 5 dienenden Bohrung mit einer dazu parallelen, ebenfalls durchgehenden Bohrung 7 versehen, die zur Aufnahme einer Druckfeder 8 undAs shown in Fig. 1, the plate 2 of the holding body is provided with a parallel, also continuous hole 7 slightly above the hole used to accommodate the hinge pin 5, which is used to accommodate a compression spring 8 and
zweier beiderseits derselben angeordneten Kugeln 9 dient. The two tabs 4 are each provided with a drilled recess, which is designed or dimensioned to be almost hemispherical in accordance with the balls 9. This recess 10 of each tab 4 is aligned with the transverse bore 7 of the plate 2 in the normal position of use of the obstacle support shown in Fig. 3, so that the balls 9 are pressed outwards into the relevant recess 10 of the relevant tab 4 under the pressure of the spring 8 and thus form a ball catch which locks the relevant tab 4 to the plate 2.
If a horse jumping onto the obstacle bar, which rests on the obstacle support, places excessive vertical stress on it, the pivoting moment acting via the shell 1 on the tab 4 and thus also on the respective ball 9 causes the ball 9 to be pushed back into the hole in the plate, whereby the ball catches disengage and the shell 1 can pivot downwards, as shown in Fig. 4.
Because of the circular disk-shaped design of the tabs 4, they form a wall that closes the cross hole in the plate 2 on the relevant side in every swivel position of the bowl 1, so that the balls 9 cannot fall out. The bowl 1 only needs to be swiveled back up into its normal position of use so that the balls 9 snap back into the recesses 10 of the tabs 4 and the ball lock locking is restored, i.e. the obstacle support is ready for use again.
By selecting the depth of the recesses 10 and/or the strength of the spring 8, the vertical load required for the shell 1 to disengage can be specified. It can also be changed by replacing the spring 8. To do this, it is only necessary to remove the hinge pin 5, after which the tabs 4 can be moved out of the area of the hole 7 or pulled off, thus making the hole 7 accessible.

5After inserting another spring and the two balls 9, the two tabs 4 are guided over the bore ends again and the hinge pin 5 is reinserted.

Deviating from the arrangement shown, it is also possible in principle to arrange a spring catch in the form of a ball catch or other spring catch that releases when a certain force is applied between an area of the shell body and an area of the holding body. There are many possibilities for this. Based on the embodiment shown, a spring catch that only acts on a tab 4 can be provided, or a spring catch oriented radially to the hinge axis can be provided between the holding body and a roller or roller segment-shaped part that can be pivoted together with the shell body, whereby the spring-loaded locking element can be accommodated in the holding body or in the roller part and can interact with a locking recess in the other part. These structural designs, which are immediately apparent to the person skilled in the art from the above description, are not specifically shown.
