Description
The invention relates to a velour carpet tile which is a component of a floor covering.
For air conditioning and ventilation systems in buildings, raised floors are increasingly being used to supply fresh air to the room. These raised floors or hollow floors have air outlets from which the fresh air exits into the room. To avoid draughts, the air outlets are designed as displacement air outlets from which the air exits at a very low exit speed. The raised floor is provided with a floor covering that can also extend over the air outlets. To allow the air to pass through the floor covering, air-permeable carpets with a very loose structure were used, which have a low flow resistance overall. Such a carpet, which consists of a looped fabric, for example, has little wear resistance and the loose knotting that occurs due to the air outlets.

It is also known to use hard flooring, e.g. made of PVC, and to provide these hard floorings with holes in the area of the air outlets.
The invention is based on the object of creating a velour carpet tile that can be used as a floor covering for air outlets.
This object is achieved according to the invention with the features specified in claim 1.
The velour carpet tile according to the invention has a primary backing and a secondary backing, both backings being penetrated by holes which make the carpet tile permeable to air. These holes extend through the entire structure of the carpet tile, but they are practically invisible on the top, i.e. on the velour layer. The velour carpet tile according to the invention can be used to cover a floor air outlet, while the floor of the room is otherwise covered by unperforated, similar carpet tiles or with a sheet material. The invention makes it possible to evenly cover a raised floor with velour material with high wear resistance without the floor air outlets being visible. The velour carpet tile is placed on a perforated cover plate of the raised floor, with the holes in the carpet tile aligning with the holes in the cover plate. In this way, direct air passage is achieved.
The hole diameter of the carpet tile should be a maximum of about 4 mm. The holes are preferably truncated cone-shaped so that their entry area is relatively large, but the exit area facing the velour layer is smaller.
In the following, an embodiment of the invention is explained in more detail with reference to the drawings.

Fig. 2 in vergrößertem Maßstab einen Schnitt entlang der Linie II-II von Fig. 1.Fig. 2 shows, on an enlarged scale, a section along the line II-II of Fig. 1.
The carpet tile 10 has a square base with an edge length of about 60 cm. It has a primary backing 11 made of fabric in which the velour layer 12 forming the wear layer is anchored. The secondary backing 14, which can consist of a felt, a jute fabric, a medium-weight bitumen layer, a PVC coating or the like, is attached under the primary backing 11 with an adhesive layer 13. The secondary backing 14 has a layer thickness of about 2-3 mm, while the height of the velour layer is 3-4 mm.
The carpet tile 10 is provided with a hole pattern 15, which consists of numerous regularly arranged holes 16. The holes 16 are arranged in rows and columns, with the hole spacing being 10-20 mm.
-A--A-
An der Unterseite des Zweitrückens beträgt der Lochdurchmesser 2-4 mm.The holes 16 extend through the secondary backing 14, the adhesive layer 13 and the primary backing 11. The holes are punched into the carpet tile from the back. They have a truncated cone shape, i.e. their largest diameter is on the underside of the secondary backing 14 and they taper towards the primary backing 11. On the underside of the secondary backing, the hole diameter is 2-4 mm.
The holes 16 are made by placing the carpet tile with the velour layer facing down on a perforated plate and then pressing a spike plate with numerous pointed spikes against the secondary back 14, whereby the spikes pierce the holes 16. The spikes are conical and have a maximum diameter of 4 mm. After the spikes are pulled out of the holes 16, the holes partially close again. By piercing the pointed spikes, no material is removed, but only a displacement and compaction of the material around the holes 16. A significant advantage is that the holes on the velour layer 12 are hardly visible. The visibility of the holes 16 from the top of the carpet tile is further reduced by the fact that the velour layer 12 is provided with a color pattern.
The carpet tile 10 contains approximately 1,000-1,500 holes on an area of approximately 0.36 m 2 , in the present embodiment approximately 1,280 holes.
