Description

Process for improving the smell of gasoline The treatment of gasoline Using caustic soda to remove unwanted components is a widely used one Process in the petroleum processing industry. One can have a similar one, in some Cases achieve better improvement from gasolines by using the same over Active charcoal soaked in caustic soda conducts.

It has now been found that treatment with alkali is advantageous and charcoal carries out in two stages, in such a way that in the first stage the Solution of the sulfur-containing compounds contained in gasoline, especially the Merkaptarne, made in caustic soda and in the second stage the in such a way Caustic soda loaded with sulphurous products from contact with charcoal or other adsorbents in one for the new absorption of sulfur-containing products brings usable initial state. The procedure works in the following way: The gasoline to be cleaned is in a washing tower with caustic soda using the countercurrent principle washed. The gasoline enters the washing tower from below and is there through suitable apparatus measures finely distributed, while the sodium hydroxide solution is introduced from above will. The lye drawn off at the bottom of the washing tower is transferred to a second washing tower, which is filled with activated charcoal, freed from the mercaptans enriched in the lye and then pushed back into the other washing tower to refine more gasoline there.

This cycle of the lye, which is related to the speed of rotation and can vary with regard to the ratio of lye to coal, as well as the variable Petrol throughput allow the alkali to have an impact on the petrol depending on its content of undesirable components, thus setting optimal conditions. The method also enables an adaptation with regard to the different content of the treated gasoline in the different types of Mercaptans.
