Description
Austenitic steel welding wires or electrodes for welding of austenitic manganese steels Addition to patent 3'46 130 in patent 7q.6170 is the use of welding wires and electrodes made of austenitic steels with Up to 0.7% carbon, at least 120/0 manganese, the remainder iron with the usual contents of silicon and impurities for joint and sealing welding of austenitic Manganese steels protected if the welded joint has high toughness after air treatment is required without other alloying elements being added to the weld. The wires or electrodes are preferably made of an austenitic one Steel containing 0.25 to 0.6 percent carbon and 20 to 13 percent manganese. The electrodes can be welded blank, and the finished weld does not require any tempering treatment to experience.
Further investigations have now shown that it is advantageous welding with wires or electrodes made of austenitic steels, .the maximum 0.7% carbon, at least 12% manganese and 0.6 to 1.550 / 0 silicon, The remainder contains iron with the usual levels of accompanying iron elements. By improvement brought about by this increased silicon content works especially when welding by hand. If the in austenitic Manganese steels with the usual silicon content of around 0.3% are mainly used in manual welding the weld pool is still very restless and the spray losses are correspondingly proportionate high. These disadvantages and also the gas bubble formation that is otherwise sometimes noted could be, occur after increasing the silicon content to at least 0.6%, preferably to more than 0.70 / 0 no longer. These electrodes can also be bare be welded, and it is not necessary to heat-treat the finished weld to subjugate.
In general, the silicon content will not go beyond i 9 / o to need.
