Description

When drilling relatively soft metals with the usual Twist drills gets the material through the drill tip both on the drill entry side as well as pressed outwards on its exit side. It shows on both sides the workpiece has a ridge or crater that is removed by a second operation must become. Such reworking is necessary, especially with large quantities entails an undesirable amount of work. According to the invention it is proposed to eliminate this disadvantage by keeping the drill cutting edge on the surface line protrude beyond the center of the drill. The drill is advantageous according to the invention designed so that the apex of the apex angle is directed inward.

The drawing shows an embodiment of the subject matter of the invention shown.

The twist drill z is ground at its front end so that a crater: 2 forms. When drilling, the edges 3 hit the workpiece first and get used to it. The direction in which the material runs through the crater is squeezed away after the center of the drill. That way, there can be no more disruptive Ridge arise. Even more noticeable is the success when the drill emerges from the Workpiece. The cutting edges protruding from the surface line make the material cut out in the form of a small plug so that there is no thin spot at all arises that can be pushed out.
